    We took this video to show you how to do an oil change on a Hyundai Sonata with the 3.3 V6 ENGINE. We demonstrated on a 2006 Model but it will be the same for this generation from 2006 to 2010 with the 3.3 v6 engine.
    If you want to make sure that your oil is changed correctly then this video will be for you. More and more stories have been shared that people take their car for an oil change to a shop and they either do not replace the oil filter or do not even change the oil and charge you for it.
    You will need between 5.5 and 5.8 quarts for oil.
    NEVER exceed the Maximum mark because you will damage the catalytic converters.
    This procedure should work for:
    2006 Hyundai Sonata 3.3 v6 Oil Change Change oil Filter
    2007 Hyundai Sonata 3.3 v6 Oil Change Change oil Filter
    2008 Hyundai Sonata 3.3 v6 Oil Change Change oil Filter
    2009 Hyundai Sonata 3.3 v6 Oil Change Change oil Filter
    2010 Hyundai Sonata 3.3 v6 Oil Change Change oil Filter

    Thanks for the video.Did find it very helpful but I would suggest 4 things.1) wear nitrile gloves, dirty oil is really nasty stuff.2)Remove filter cap,dipstick and oil filler cap first before removing sump plug.3) use a crush washer when putting sump plug back on or it's going to leak.4) Clean all the components with a cloth to remove as much old oil as possible before reinstalling components to reduce amount of contaminants in the oil. Engine purrs like kitten now.Cheers!

      +World Mechanics Great. Also, for what it's worth, I have been getting P0021 and P0022 (over advanced AND over retarded) codes consistently. I noticed that at about the same time the CEL light came on the engine would occasionally run rough or jerky for a couple seconds around city cruising speed only; and then run normal again. Otherwise, runs perfect with no other symptoms.
      Trying to avoid the stealer.
      Did I just say "stealer"? I'm sorry, I meant dealer. Freudian slip. :)

    That is totally wrong. That's not the right way of changing the engine oil especially if the oil filter is on the top with the canister type. First, warm up the engine. Second, shut off the engine then remove the cap and loosen the dipstick. Third, remove the oil filter first then the drain plug. install the filter the last after putting back the drain plug. why? because the canister type oil filter especially the top ones, holds vacuum, meaning it holds some a quart of an oil. I've been a lube tech for years that includes working on transport trucks and light vehicles.

      By "remove the cap and loosen then dipstick" you mean remove the oil fill cap and pull out the dipstick?
      Would this work?
      1 warm engine
      2 shut off engine
      3 raise front and put on jackstands
      4 remove oil fill cap from engine
      5 remove or pull up the dipstick
      6 remove oil filter cap
      7 remove oil filter
      8 drain oil from oil pan with 17mm wrench
      9 put oil plug back on with new crush washer
      10 put new gaskets on oil filter cap
      11 put new filter on oil filter cap and put filter cap back on
      12 fill engine fill cap with oil
      13 tighten fill cap
      14 push dipstick back in and check level
      15 if oil level is ok on dipstick start car
      16 shut off engine and check dipstick again

    my brother in law has been using this car my beater but he got a new car and shipped in down to florida to return it to me. He can do proper oil changes and did them often. Can the oil filter cap be removed and reinstalled without the pliers? i know I don't own a pair like that and I doubt he does either. I've been doing the oil changes from 34 miles to 85,000 miles. She's at 112,000 with a minor upper valve seeping of oil onto the alternator. I use that crc stuff for alternators and starters and disconnect my negative terminal. About a can a month and all the oil drips into a large oil pan below. I think the alternator job on this car is a bear, even when going from underneath. So I'm going keep it clean, new belt new pulleys. Maybe build the alternator a little stainless steel roof.

    • @buzoff4642
      @buzoff4642 Před rokem

      Not at all likely you'll be able to get the cap off without pliers.
      Part of the oil change is changing the filters and the rubber gaskets, which prevents leaks, and the crusher washer on the bolt going into the bottom of the oil pan. Do it right, and this car will last a long time.
      My first Hyundai, far too busy at work, rarely changed the oil or tracked it's level at all, lasted 100K miles.
      Current Hyundai, loyal to 7500K oil changes as manufacturer recommended, is about to roll to 230,000K miles.

    I thought Castrol GTX SAE 5W-30 doesn’t fit a “2006 Hyundai Sonata V6 3.3L” ??

    • @buzoff4642
      @buzoff4642 Před 2 lety

      Reading up on this, 5W-20 is thinner oil, and better for the engine if you live in very cold winter areas, as the oil flows easier in below freezing temps. 5W-30's viscosity does better in high heat, so a better choice if you live in hotter areas with milder winters. My Sonata here in the north east has consistently been run with 5W-20, and its over 220K miles.

    @user-sl4rk5zm1j Před 6 lety +2

    the least of your worries is damage to your catalytic converter...The biggest of to much oil, issue is oil pressure raising and blowing everything out of proportion. This is a machine and it is nothing like the old style engines which you could use cliche or you tube videos to do any work on.. Frodo hobbit is right about the canister first. People on you tube come for the quick fix, but in the REAL engineering world where youtube videos are for people who trying to create an illusion for others or even themselves, that what they are doing is correct, in times of money crisis, there is a difference between them and the people who bettered themselves to do this line of work. Vaccum not letting oil drain fully will KILL an engine. filling it back up with that issue, will also make people ignore the remaining oil and put in the manufacturers spec for oil level and type. To much oil/ mix of dirty, = PERSON ruining engine= EXPENSIVE REPAIR.
    Oil Raising pressure not only raises temperature, It ruins seals, unbalances things meant to be moved with proper pressure(valves, piston clearance,EVERY moving part.)
    If your not a true Technician. Dont post videos claiming you know what you are doing, when you are giving instructions to make a $2400 mistake.
    Odds are, if one person who is cheap watches a youtube video that makes the car move yet doesnt know what sounds or movements are natural, they will keep making the same mistake . Life is delicate . If you believe life or people are the same, you will have misfortune. There are so many irresponsible people.
