- Beloved "Back to the Future" castmates Christopher Lloyd (Doc Brown) and Tom Wilson (Biff Tannen) pair up for an insightful, emotional and hilarious Q&A panel at the 2018 Fan Expo Canada in Toronto.
Christopher Lloyd (born October 22nd, 1938 in Stamford, Connecticut) portrayed "Doc" Emmett L. Brown in the "Back to the Future" trilogy, the live-action portions of "Back to the Future: The Animated Series," "Back to the Future: The Ride" and the short film "Doc Brown Saves the World." He also depicted the character vocally in "Back to the Future: The Game," "Back to the Future: Blitz Through Time" and "LEGO Dimensions."
Thomas F. "Tom" Wilson (born April 15th, 1959 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an actor and comedian who portrayed Biff Tannen, Griff Tannen, and Buford Tannen in the "Back to the Future" trilogy; as Biff in footage on "Back to the Future: The Ride;" and the voice of Biff and his ancestors and descendants in "Back to the Future: The Animated Series." He provided the voice for Biff in "Back to the Future: The Game - 30th Anniversary Edition."
"Back to the Future" is a 1985 American science fiction film directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Zemeckis and Bob Gale. It stars Michael J. Fox as teenager Marty McFly who accidentally travels back in time to 1955 where he meets his future parents and becomes his mother's romantic interest. Christopher Lloyd portrays the eccentric scientist Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown, inventor of the time-traveling DeLorean, who helps Marty repair history and return to 1985. Tom Wilson portrays the villainous bully Biff Tannen who threatens to wipe Marty out of existence with his antagonizing ways.

Always seems that the actors that play mean characters are the nicest ones.
Suddenly makes me think of Christopher Lee
Larry Linville on M*A*S*H comes to mind
It does seem that way. Also it seems that a lot of actors (not all) who play nice likable guys/girls are not always so nice in real life and are jerks. So I sometimes tend to think, with them being actors, they are playing someone they are not and many are playing the opposite of who they really are.
Tom is so, so different from Biff in real life that you suddenly realise just how good an actor he is. He didn't just play Biff, but different eras of the Tannen family who were all mean and bullies, but each uniquely different. I don't think they could have cast better for the role.
Yeah, and he was worried he was the one being fired, when they all got called in to a meeting, where they found out Eric Stoltz was being fired😬 He's that humble.
I’ve been watching these movies since they first came out. As a kid I didn’t appreciate how good Tom was but as I’ve gotten older I’ve come to think that his performance was the best in the whole trilogy.
"You always play the character best opposite your trueself"
Damn, he played Adult Bully Biff, young bully Biff, adult wimp Biff, adult evil Trump, Griff, Old man Biff, and Buford.
To say he had one of the hardest jobs in the trilogy is an understatement.
And a few voice acting from Spongebob
agreed!
That and all the manure trucks 🤣
he really shines in those movies
Don't forget Leah... Depressing Adult Lorraine, Happy Adult Lorraine, Young Lorraine, Old Grandma Lorraine, Boobjob Lorraine and Maggie in the old west
I like the way that Tom Wilson shows so much respect and kindness towards Christopher Lloyd.
He has to, he doesn’t want him to go back in time and dump manure on him for the 4th time!
Wilson's a class act. Seems a genuinely nice guy that'd be fun to have a few beers with.
As long as he doesn't get into the Biff character and drive your car.
@@jonstefanik9400 In deep shit if he says, "nobody can start this baby, but me."
Overall, but he did have to throw politics into it by talking bad about Busey.
@@dunktheball he's mentioned Gary Busey in his song every time I've seen him do that song. I think it's funny.
I have met Tom Wilson years ago at a stand up show he did...one of the nicest people that I have ever met. I actually got to be a part of his act...
I'm glad that they brought Tom Wilson on board.
He's necessary.
So am i
@@kalel311superman9 Yes you are. Everyone is. But not on that panel.
These two work so well together at these events.
Christopher is quiet and Tom has no problem talking and thinking on his feet and really helps Christopher.
When someone says to Tom that they hate him, he should take it as a compliment. It takes great acting to be a convincing bully that was Biff Tannen. In real life, he seems like a very likable and funny guy. Hope to see his show one day.
Wow biff really turned out ok!!!
Thanks😎
Must be the alternate reality.
Biff 1 Tannen are you really Tom Wilson?
.
@@JustinMacri007 Dude.....
Seriously?
Wilson's quite a naturally funny guy.
Tom Wilson, always underrated as an actor and a great guy!
Small role in The Informant movie, took me a minute to realize it was biff
...well..not so sure about the "Great guy" part. On a German Convention he denied to be on the stage with his German voice....not realy a friendly decision.
@@hansbier5198 Any proof for this? Would like to know more about this.
@@ente_tangente2415 Meanwhile his German-Voice died....so nobody to confirm it now. He was okay with that, but also very disappointet...
@@hansbier5198 Hey thanks for that fast answer. I didn´t know that the German-Voice died, I always liked his performance as german Biff. I can really imagine, that if this is true, that he would have been disappointed.
But from I have seen of Mr. Wilson, I can´t believe this to be honest. I don´t want to say you lie or anyhting like that, really. If you didn´t checkout it already: Mr. Wilson has a nice CZcams channel. From what I saw there, I can´t imagine him to be so rude to the German Voice-Over. This is just my oppinion however.
Again, thanks for your answer and have a nice day.
Wow...i was impressed with the Ukele playing!!!!
Thanks😎
Oh man Tom Wilson, you make me smile man. Yep B.T.T.F. The best trilogy ever made.
He's just like 1985 Biff Tannen from the second movie
Without the mini-guitar, maybe!
@@thefront5871 It's an ukelele, you uncultured swine.
Looks more like John Larquette from the late 90’s.
I should hope not.
You heard ladies? The party is over!
I’ve just discovered Tom after all these years and wish I had followed him sooner. I grew up watching the BTTF movies.
He seems like such a cool, funny, likeable guy who’s funny and just a normal person and not a star who believes he’s above the public who watch his movies.
Same. Listened to several of his songs and subbed to his CZcams channel last week.
Yes. I think he would make a great late night talk show host.
I had the honor of being one of the volunteers at that Panel :) Tom Wilson was a RIOT!
I got to meet Mr Lloyd at a comic con years ago, I absolutely love cons that give you a chance to say hello to these people that made my childhood
How was he in person?
That "Questions" song. I enjoy every time when I listen. Mr. Wilson is a great comedian.
And Doc. Brown... He was a great mentor for Marty. And he is STILL a great mentor for all BTTF fans like me.
Greetings from Turkey.
I had no idea Wilson was so funny. I have to look up more stuff with him in it.
Tom, you probably never going to see that, but I think you deserve an Oscar for btf part 3. Old west Biff was one of the funniest characters I ever saw on movies. It is a very different Biff when compared to the others, and this is a proof of your talent. Thank you Tom, Cristopher, and Michael for all of these sweet memories your talent gave us.
When he spit that ball out with that expression like where that come from was hilarious.
15:50 Christopher Lloyd having a perfect Doc Brown moment.
Perfection
Couldn’t plan that any better.
I gotta say, Biff Tannon has really mellowed out with age.
It's so nice to see Tom Wilson in recent years embrace his legacy as Biff Tannen. For the longest time he was so bitter and hated the fact that he was typecast as the aggressive meathead... but he grew to accept it and love it. Just like Leonard Nimoy and playing Spock.
I have watched Back To The Future more times than I can remember
The song at the beginning was brilliant
Tom is one of the best panelists I've ever seen at these things.
I've seen Tom Wilson perform his standup show several times. Dude is FREAKING hilarious!
He has a lot of energy, and has even been compared with Jim Carrey.
I’ve compared ostriches to oranges before.
Doc, Marty and Biff were truly the big 3 of the trilogy...I mean, they had a MAJOR role in all of it that's why it's such a classic...I can't imagine anyone else in their places, and the rest of the cast places either..
that was the best intro to a panel I've ever seen
You know it's 2018 when Biff & Doc Brown look the same age XD
I have so much respect for Tom Wilson as an actor after watching this,it's easy to take for granted the work that is put into a character like Biff and how difficult it is to pull off.he understands because it's personal..and he is hilarious.
Tom Wilson is amazing this just makes me like him more
Pls give this man a show or CZcams channel
Please? He can do it himself if he so wishes!!
Wilson does have a CZcams channel if you type his name up it's the first thing you'll find.
The whole thing is good, but the song in the beginning is the best part.
The real Tom Wilson for president
Yes 👍🏻, and if he ever ran and if I lived in the US 🇺🇸, I would totally vote 🗳☑ for him.
I feel like Tom's "Questions" song has become as much a mainstay of his con appearances as hearing him say "Butthead" or "Hey McFly!"
You can tell Christopher Lloyd is having an excellent time with Tom, in this interview. Ive seen Christopher in interviews by himself & he seems so low energy, but here he is just beaming & ready to have a good time with his thespian buddy!
What we can tell about Christopher Lloyd? He's a nice actor. Very respectable like an old sir. A master of the actuation.
Tom Wilson is not only one of the nicest guys in Hollywood... But he's also one of the coolest and most epic... I still to this day love him as Maniac in the Wing Commander games!! .. He's been involved with video games since the mid 90s!.. Truly an epic dude!! :)
22:04 the moment of buford tannen comes alive for 1 second.... PRICELESS
Kudos to that kid that asked the last question being if Mr Lloyd can say Great Scott!!!... awesome ending to this!!
Watched that part over and over again!
Man, Tom was on fire.
That was one hell of an awesome intro 11/10
Tom Wilson is totally right about recasting and doing a continuation. This trilogy is perfect. Maybe someday a reboot may suit in other time but the Gioconda will still be eternally beautiful and self-contained
so glad somebody asked a Taxi question - especially that Yellow Light scene - that is such a classic episode pure comical genius - thanks so much Mr. Lloyd
I love Tom, he was so fun to the sences! Christopher makes me happy.
Tom seems like the type of actor who is going to be in a serious performance piece and win an oscar. I guarantee that we will see that soon
I love Thomas playing the ukulele, and that song is hilarious.
I would literally take a 10 hour video of him playing the ukulele.
Chris and Tom are such amazing actors. One way you can tell that is the fact they are nothing like their characters. Tom isnt a mean bully at all, hes the nicest guy, and Chris is always very quiet and reserved, nothing like the high energy characters he usually plays.
I can't believe how much Wilson is in the Biff character. He was so great in those movies. And Lloyd is such a natural, and seems a genuine nice person.
I love Tom Wilson! Such an under-appreciated actor.
Tom has aged a lot more gracefully than Biff did in the movies! Love his song at the beginning!
I love that Christopher Lloyd didn't hesitate for a second before saying "great Scott!" I imagine having fans ask you to say a characters catchphrase, especially from decades ago, can get wearing over time. I always enjoy knowing the actor still indulges people so readily. Respect :)
That intro is pure epicness!
Lloyd looks like citizen brown from the game
Speaking of bully, I just found out Tom Wilson played Flats the Flounder in spongebob episode the bully.
What the hell I didn’t even know that
Holy shit youre right 😳
@@OneBirdAllStoned That was the first thing i noticed when they first aired that episode ( i was 10 at the time) i remember pointing that out to everyone who've watched the movie and was so freaking excited when it turned out that i was right :D
Holy crap, why am I just discovering how awesome he is?
I've seen a fair amount of Tom online over the years and I gotta say he's one of my favorite people now.
Tom Wilson is hilarious great energy and not enough credit given Bttf wouldn't be what it is without him
Omg that song….genius he is😂❤
I legitimately had no idea Tom Wilson could play the ukulele!
He plays guitar also. If you search him here on CZcams, there are videos of him doing the "Questions" song on guitar.
He's actually pretty good at the ukulele, and guitar too, more than just playing simple chords to back him up in his comedy shows.
his stage presence is off the charts
The song cracked me up so much. Not a good idea to watch this in class
30:34 in excitement (gasp) oh can a little boy wants you to say great scot for him.
"Why don't you make like a tree...and gidawda heee."
LOL Holy Crap Fred was there 10 years ago at Comic Strip when I went to see Tom Wilson LOL!!! Small World!
this is my favorite interveiw evvvverrr
Tom Wilson still knows how to make us laugh and keep us entertained
Todd Maniac Marshall rocks the ukulele.
Tom explained a lot of things about acting that I didn't know. Especially about creating a character. Excellent.
Really enjoyed that :) I agree that they should never make any more BTTF movies, but I really think it would be amazing if they could create a special edition version where Tom Wilson, Lea Thompson, Michael J Fox and Crispin Glover all re-shoot their "middle aged" scenes now that they really ARE middle aged! I so wish they would do this!
Never gonna happen. But I was exactly thinking the same!
Marc Kloosterman i say lets leave the game as part 4 nuff said?
Tom is so professional and funny!
I’m a fan. Love Chris/Doc! He’s a couple of years older but so nice guy!
Tom's natural charisma and comedic abilities are off the charts. I would love to see him in some more leading comedic roles.
Wow! Brilliant!! I never knew he sang and played. Such a talented guy. Funny and entertaining.
Tom is such a freaking ham lol.
But damn he's really become 1985 Biff! Very wicked
Gwan Biff! What a personality!
biff is so right at the end about the closed story and remember the trilogy!
GREAT SCOTT!!!
Well he might be right, but i really would like to see a 4. movie.
Tom Wilson is an accomplished painter too. I saw an exhibition of his in the 90s. Nice guy too.
Sweet Mr. Lloyd is very respectful, I wish he had more to say.
I had no idea this would be so funny, damn, my cheeks hurt from laughing
Old Biff is looking pretty good for 2018
This was Awesome!!! Enjoyed watching them.
i love tom and how much he cares about his co workers.
Glad to see Tom Wilson talking about and embracing the love of BTTF. He shows so much range in these movies (even though he's playing the villain).
wow, this was unexpectedly interesting. (I love them, but didn't expect such a great conversations!)
Beautiful - this was a great movie and cast
Class act. Nothing but respect for both of those guys. The talent is so incredible that it should make true enthusiasts weep. And I am not just talking about enthusiasts for either of them, but for the craft they have mastered.
10 points for entrance Mr Wilson.
Tom Wilson the real showman!
Tom Wilson is so utterly likeable.
This is amazingggggggggggggggg.
Thank you for this. I just wish the questions asked would have been clearer and heard as much as the actors. Didn't watch completely til the end but I guarantee some little kid got their day made with that final line!!!! We all love that line "GREAT SCOTT" a truly iconic line for the trilogy!
I've always been a fan of Christopher Lloyd, but I've been getting these recommends of Tom Wilson's interviews and I gotta say that this guy is great. Always been a fan of his work, but now I'm also just a big fan of him as a person.
man i love em both.
Can't wait to see Thomas Wilson in DCs Legends of Tomorrow. Wilsons sense of humor is exactly like Rosenbaums and Barrowmans.
I so hope they meet at some point.
How is Tom not a huge star? Dude can do it all
I was very surprised to see Tom Wilson on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. He did an excellent job.
Not only is Tom Wilson a nice guy in real life, but he's also funny.
I appreciate Christopher Lloyd's and Tom Wilson's great work. I was watching an old Batman: The Animated Series episode and recognized the voice of a character Tony Zucco, who had murdered the parents of Robin, Dick Grayson. Haha, it was Biff! The man is a legend.
Back to the future one of the movies, doesn't matter how many times you've seen it every time you're scanning through and it's on you stop and watch it.
