I recorded this years ago on VHS, and had the pleasure of sharing it with Tom Wilson, who told me he had never seen a recording of it before, almost 20 years later.
Anytime I see a movie and I see "Thomas F. Wilson" in the opening credits my first thought is "Well there's at least one solid performance! Don't think I ever seen a role in a movie from him I didn't like.
+Ethan Price In fact, he has stated in a recent interview that he was able to play the role of a bully so convincingly because, up until his growth spurt, he was bullied severely at school and had stared them in the face so often.
Even after the growth spurt, I'm sure there were some douchebags who still messed with him because of their little man insecurities. Tom himself does not seem like the type who wants to fight (though he did apparently have the urge to smack Eric Stoltz around a bit), regardless of being a big guy. He'd rather tell a joke, play a song or paint a picture. We need more people like him everywhere in the world. :)
I love that he is NOTHING like Biff Tannen, thats the mark of a great actor. Watching him, I dont see even a hint of Biff. He's funny, can play Tuba, guitar, and God knows what else🤣 Insanely talented, he should have had his own show.
Tom in the real world is an amazing fella! He seems down to earth and not like "Hey, I'm a big shot actor and you're poop in the pool." His humor is as funny as the best of them, he's an artist and musician, sings, and I guess he dances. Talented all the way around.
The comments are totally on point. How this man never became a megastar... we will never know. I think that it's because, as he himself has said, so many people believe that he IS Biff even though his real personality couldn't be more detached from that character.
Tom is such a talented guy. Sucks that he was typecast as "Biff". I saw him do standup a few time. Great energy... dude could control a crowd and his confidence onstage was amazing. Look at this, dude just took over the show... on Carson. Lucky I just started watching Legends of Tomorrow (just for Constantine), and WHAMMY... Tom pops up. And if you ever read this Tom... what's Michael J Fox like? *couldn't resist*
What really blows my mind is I had no idea he played Tuba. After all these years it was a bit of a shock. Since I too played the heaviest metal you could in band. Makes me luv the guy even more.
@@travisinthetrunk It doesn't make for much of a comedy routine night after night plus special events. If it's enough for you, you're very easily entertained.
lol, i love the end. i didnt realize everyone else questioned a tuba player's decision to play the tuba. because i dont even realize how it happened myself x.x
One of his first acting roles is in a little movie called La Street Fighter I think it was made in 84 or something and he plays a member of a gang the axe gang and they fight some other guys the Asian gang or something if he's in there swinging his axe around and they beat him up
I believe that Roger Bobo was on Carson. Roger was the tubaist for the LA Phil and one of the greatest tubaist of all time. Last May I went to a Master Class that presided over.
One of the few comedians that made me pause the video due to laughter. Too many these days think they have to be some kind of philosopher and make a good point. I prefer guys like Tom because he’s FUNNY
I love this clip. I often find Tom really funny, but he is just hilarious here. I agree with a lot of people that it was a shame he got typecast as he could’ve been bigger if not.
I was always a fan of his character on back to the future but after watching this and other stand up routine videos I’m forever a fan!! Multi talented.
Actually since I uploaded this 9 years ago, they have started making individual episodes available for purchase, but thanks. Tom Wilson himself hadn't ever seen this until I sent it to him in the Pre CZcams days
@@frednich9603 Yes, but in case you didn't know a lot of the original tapes were destroyed in a fire. They stored the rest in an abandoned salt mine. A bit off this subject, a friend/CZcamsr posted a video of a guitarist playing an instrument that he made, and on the chalkboard of upcoming artists was Tom Wilson.
He was such a great Biff...He's such a good actor that he could fake being a bully beautifully, you really wanted to hate him. Then you get to know him in real life and he couldn't be more different! Affable, self-deprecating, intellectual and hilarious! When auditioning for Biff, he must've thought to himself, "Wait...they want me to play a BULLY...? I'm not a bully, but I guess that I could fake it...!" It's a trite but true statement, "Don't judge a book by its cover...!"
Very Funny! But so much of what he plays for laughs is based in truth. I'm a former tuba player in a college marching band and have experienced much of this, including the inability of most audiences to keep a beat.
Now I just finished watching this. It's just a tragedy how "actors" of today have no talent. They just need to look good shirtless and have a marketable face. Tom Wilson is more talented than anybody under 30 I've seen in a movie in the past 5 years or so, yet someone like him absolutely would not make it in today's Hollywood. Damn you, pop culture of today. Damn you.
Just wish Tom had been in our High School Marching Band... he would have been 1st chair Tuba & the funniest Drum Major ever to lead us through horse manure...!!!
A criminally underrated performer. He should have really been HUGE.
exactly

Agreed
First I was like, really!? Then I started laughing, then he reminded me of Jim Carrey, and then I agreed with your comment. ^^
I dont think he got enough credit in BTTF, look at all the different characters he played in the 3 movies, he did an amazing job!
Who knew the bully was a geek, I also play the sousaphone it's pretty awesome seeing someone like him play it too

This man did not get nearly enough attention in Hollywood

Poop in the pool?? 😂 oh I’m using that from now on
"Now Biff, don't con me!"
Oh, hahaha, I'm sorry Ms. Clark. I meant to sing the bass line of Moon River.
I laughed so hard when he played "Moon River".
Hahahaha
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 🤣
How have I never heard about him as a comic? Hilarious! Timeless humor! Total joy to watch!!
The comments are totally on point.
How this man never became a megastar... we will never know.
I think that it's because, as he himself has said, so many people believe that he IS Biff even though his real personality couldn't be more detached from that character.
Tom Wilson was the best actor in that whole movie series.
Chris Lloyd and MJF arent exactly amateurs.
Absolutely. Hello?!? Think! Mcfly! … Think!
This is guy is a badass. i love him and im a sousaphone player too
I love Tom Wilson
Genuine and personable guy and funny!
Bahaha I remember playing the jaws theme on my tuba when I was younger... Hilarious!
This guy is so relatable it's great
He seems like such an awesome guy, they needed to use this in back to the future
Looks so young. I thought this was years before BTTF. What a talent!
Great actor, i loved him in freaks and geeks and obviously biff. Its nice to see him when he pops up in tv shows or movies.
Great dude ....wish him the best !
Met him briefly after his HILARIOUS comedy act, COOL DUDE!!!
Never knew he did stand-up, but man he was funny!!! Thanks for the post!
He doesn't seem to be such a butthead in real life...
Imagine that, an actor thats nothing like the part hes famous for...

A great act! A real original!
"You never told me there was a blind spot on the car. I could of been killed"

What a talented guy. I love what the info section says about the uploader sharing this with Wilson himself. And that tuba looks tiny on him, lol
what a star
Wow. He is thinner than from Back to the Future and he has the energy of Jim Carrey.
Or did the costuming department dress him in clothing that only made him LOOK bigger. 😉
Huge respect to Tom Wilson
Wow, My sides hurt, This is the funniest thing I have seen in years.
Funny as hell!
And he was nice looking when he wasn’t playing Biff
Of course Biff would play the TUBA!

This is to unbelievably true!!!
I thought Biff would've been too young to have met Johnny Carson-- oh wait, this was his father from 1955, of course.
In the original 1985 timeline, Biff had no kids we know about. The 1955 Biff was in his late 40s.
