    Ha ! I didn't think I would stay with this for very long ( way over 1hrs length ) but I found myself fast forwarding it in a few places to see the rest of the video. Thanks for sharing this because it gave a very good appraisal of what cruising is really like in the 21 century.

    Hi Kaz & Nige Enjoyed this video v.much. We've always said we'd never go to the Fjords because it may be a bit too cold, but watching this it didn't look too bad, and it was in the spring....mm..maybe I may change our minds! Amazed when you said that Royal Caribbean don't have tea/coffee in cabins!! What? We love our beverages on tap on P&O, can't beat it first thing in the morning or relaxing late afternoon after a hard day's sightseeing. I will search on here for some more of your lovely vids. Thank you.

      Thanks Sue! Yes we were very lucky with the weather, not what we expected. My wife tells me I'm wrong about the tea in RC cabins and reckons they do have them. Must be my age I can't remember now!! We are back on Royal Caribbean Explorer of The Seas this June so I will double check. Fjords are amazing! Get a balcony cabin if you can to watch the scenery pass close by.

      Jayne Price Hi Jayne, thank you for your comment. P&O and Royal Caribbean do aim at a different market. We really enjoy the 'buzz' of Independence of The Seas. Britannia is much more relaxed.
      We have just returned from a week on Britannia, great weather again in Norway.

      john grimley First attempt at timelapse, trickey getting the exposure correct between the shadows and sunlight. used a 'gorillapod' type tripod that wrapped around the railings above the pool. Fjords are amazing! Don't spend all day taking pictures!!

    I'll be watching this again before I go, thought this video had some really good tips thank you. I also thought you were very, very lucky with the weather which looked as good as you could really hope for.
    I'm looking at doing Norway this August, by chance the ship departing on the date that best suits me happens to be the Britannia which I have been on though I'm not an experienced cruiser. If you don't mind my asking, do you know if it's worth waiting to book for prices to come down and any guidance as to when it might be best to book, now, four months in advance? Or wait? I'm advised these cruises don't book up as fast as say, Mediterranean cruises so I'm thinking it might be worth waiting, especially when I think a balcony cabin might just be worth it on this cruise - not too fussed about one if the view is purely of sea or when sailing largely by night but here, I'm thinking, it might just be worth paying the extra for the balcony. The question is, how long to wait??? When is best to book??
    Secondly, I've heard that menus can be very restricted on some Norway cruises because food in Norway is so expensive they take it all with them but this can I believe, result in a somewhat restricted menu at least on some ships when I like a bit of variety - seafood, lobster,steak - did you think the Epicurean restaurant was worth paying for? Again, I've heard a few say they didn't think it was on some trips but I suspect this varies from ship to ship.Thanks.

      Pandemonium 68 Hi, thanks for your comments. We are booked on Britannia again in July* so will make sure she is ready for you in August!!. It's always difficult knowing when to book, generally a year in advance is the most expensive. It will depend on how well the cruise is selling but usually 6 to 3 months before you can get the best deals. I often monitor the prices and they can change on a daily basis. I would recommend a balcony cabin for your cruise. The fjords are amazing and the ship spends some time cruising up and down them so great to view them from your private balcony or when getting ready for dinner.
      No problem with variety of food on the menu. Yes, check out the speciality restaurants for a treat at least once. I love Sindhu an Asian mix style by chef Atul Kochhar.
      *We paid £850pp for a balcony, cheaper than the August cruise but it is early in the summer holidays. If you can get a balcony around £940 in August I would say that's a good price.

      Thanks for the reply - I am lucky to have a relative who works for one of the major cruise agencies who can get family on them with a good discount if the ship doesn't get booked up early on but its still best to get his discount on top of standard discounts they might be offering which makes knowing when is best a little tricky. Enjoy your cruise.

    Hi Nigel great video going on Britannia in June heading to Rotterdam Guernsey and Zeebruge. Hopefully the weather will be great it looked great in stavanger. Would the age group be similar enough to what was on your cruise?

    • @kazandnige
      @kazandnige  Před 5 lety

      Hi Adam, lucky you! We are on Britannia again next year. We do have a cruise this June on Explorer of The Seas. Britannia is amongst our favourite ships. Age group will vary, Britannia does cater more for the older generation when compared to RC who have a more family atmosphere. Having said that there is plenty to do for all ages.
      I'm sure you will have a great cruise!

    • @kazandnige
      @kazandnige  Před 5 lety

      @@adam3049 P&O are quite strict on dress codes. You will need a shirt, tie and jacket on formal nights in main restaurants. Good news though the buffet is a lot more relaxed, as long as you have some clothes on all will be fine!!

    How does this ship and P&O in general compare to the likes of Indy and RCI?

    • @kazandnige
      @kazandnige  Před 7 lety +1

      c7ped Hi, All the main cruise companies provide a similar service and cruise format. However each have their own USP. RCI aim at the family entertainment market with innovations such as the Flow Rider, Bionic Bar and ice rinks onboard. P&O are typically British with afternoon tea and they lean towards older couples for a more traditional cruise experience.

    • @c7ped
      @c7ped Před 7 lety

      I thought that was the case with P&O but I thought they were trying to muscle in on RCI with the Brtitania... We have only ever cruised with RCI trying to get the points up but I'm sure we will try some others in the not too distant future 👍
