    Actually, I think Andros is right with the "mouse drift stops being an issue the more you play with mouse" because for example as a 6-digit, I had problems with mouse drift on 5* maps but then I eventually got better and I got used to it, but now I'm struggling with mouse drift on 7* maps. It just basically comes with how skilled you're in playing on the mouse and overcoming the mouse drift on the specific skill cap if it makes any sense.

      i dunno man i’ve been playing mouse for 2 years and i still experience it too much, it’s definitely just playstyle and your mouse grip (all the top players with mouse use a claw grip of their own, using their fingers to assist vertical movements instead of just using their arm and wrist like i do)

  • @SAITEKIKA
    @SAITEKIKA Před 2 lety +47

    Yeah the thing I have a problem with isn't what playstyle players prefer. It's the closemindedness and arrogance that I take issue with. When the goal is to improve why wouldn't you want to open more doors and try new things. In the case of osu that would be things like; playing with mouse, playing with tablet, trying different tapping styles, (single tap, full alt, hybrid alternating) changing your area/sens, trying different keyboard switches, figuring out your grip for your pen/mouse, creating a skin, etc. This stuff can be a bit overwhelming but since osu is an accessible game that can be personalized to a high extent, I think the user should take full advantage of that in order to be comfortable while playing. I think that finding what is comfortable for you specifically is a powerful position to be in. Because once you are comfortable you can allow your brain to focus more on improving at the game and not all the customizable factors. Spending time now to find that comfort will save a lot of time and hassle in the future if improvement is your goal. At least that's the way I see things.

    i use my arm and fingers for horizontal and vertical movements respectively. then I use my wrist to try to keep the mouse always at the same angle. this gets rid of 80% of mouse drift, and it becomes so easy to manage that you can do it without trying.

  • @PhilipHubbe
    @PhilipHubbe Před 2 lety +6

    it takes a conscious effort to create mouse drift to return you back to the comfortable area. If you understand how mouse drift works, and you're playing a map that you can aim comfortably, you can keep your mouse centered by creating mouse drift in the direction you want. If you have vertical mouse drift that's a little harder.

  • @Nole2701
    @Nole2701 Před 2 lety +9

    So I've been playing with mouse for 8 years. I agree with what Andros says. Mouse drift is not a technology issue, it will just always be there due to the nature of how mouse movement works. As you play more and get better, it will fix itself (by that I mean you will fix it yourself subconsciously). The one other benefit of playing with mouse that I have that Andros did not mention is that your 2D aim with a mouse directly translates to 2D aim in other games.

If i passed i passed, if I didn't i just tried something else. Saves me a lot of frustration and I always got to a point where I'd be able to pass the map I couldn't pass after playing other maps of the same difficulty for a while. Honestly the best tactic is to just play in a way that doesn't frustrate you - I just get bored of a difficulty once I get comfortable with it so I have to jump ship. As a mouse player
    tbh im garbage cuz like
    my friends atm play with tablet and in personal opinion i think that like
    *Itll take longer to do what they do, and we all play 5* stuff, they just do better jumps* (while i personally went for streams)
    Idk i heard about that nyanpotato is a mouse player idk i dont really know about sou community so i think theres still hope for mouse players but yeah personal choice is the key

    Been using a tablet for 2 months. I played mouse for 6 months and I really wanted to keep doing it but the drift was unbearable so I got a tablet and I started improving faster and the game became more fun with an unique input method that no other games I play use.
    I used to be worried that all my years of using a mouse for gaming was going to waste but I got the hang of tablet surprisingly quick and I'm already much better with tablet than I ever was with a mouse. Just my experience :)

      @@wizardsmix7961 The "mouse drift doesn't exist" thing was mostly a joke as he said but there was also some truth in there. Mouse drift *does* exist, however it can be mitigated to the point where it is something that can be overcome. The fact that it can only be mitigated and not completely neutralized means that it's still gonna affect mouse players no matter what, so getting mad at mouse drift doesn't really go against what he's saying, because he's not actually denying its existence.

I kinda do wanna see these outbursts for myself just to see what he was playing though, since I also believe that the amount of mouse drift you have to deal with also ties in to how difficult what you're playing is for you

  • @heydadxd60

    "Why don't you play with tablet instead of that shitty mouse" ppl asked. Because i'm just a poor kid with no allowance to bought a tablet, that's why. Joke aside, i'm a working adult now that i can buy myself a tablet. I spent several years playing mouse and decide to buy a tablet, i can fc some jumps that slightly outside of my comfort zone while mouse cant, but just that. If i play more with it, maybe i will be better by constantly challenging my limit i suppose. But soon after, about 6 months, that i quit the game for a while and sell the tablet. After coming back to the game, i ask myself the question: Do i really need to buy a tablet for just playing 1 game and the answer was no. One thing my poor childhood teach me was not spending money on things that i am not desperately need.
