Note on increasing dpi/sensitivity; don't raise your dpi/sensitivity too high to the point you lose all precision. Most top mouse players are in the 400 - 1600 raw dpi range.

2:55 OMG I think you're actually correct. I never thought about it but I think that's the reason I don't really experience mouse drift that often. I never realized how little I rotate my wrist. I might try to record my hand at a better angle to see how exactly I move my mouse

It only happens for me on really really long maps... and it’s even more a pain because you play for many minutes and then the fc is destroyed... and have to retry it, then start crying and hit your desk...

The worst part about mouse drift is thinking about mouse drift. I’ve lost count of how many times i was in the last section of a long song and about to get a pb until my brain goes “dont you dare fuck this up. how’s your hand position btw :)” and thats when i lose control in the most high octane part and die :(

i went from mouse to track pad with a stylus and it surprisingly works better than a mouse

You can actually avoid mouse drift by pinning down your wrist. An easy way to pin your wrist is by putting it outside your mousepad. And for some people, it also enhances your aim somehow.

subbed to you bro. and yeah it's irritating thing whenever you miss that note which is very easy to hit still you misses and losing the combo and the whole is very frustrating thing to suffer for an osu mouse player
My sens is 1.14 and i just use my fingers to move under my palm, it drastically lowers the drift
( what i meant by using my fingers is i levitate my fingers a little bit so only the tip of my fingers hold the mouse, my palm touches it slightly which helps accuracy) im sorry if my english is bad

I play osu weird, I do it while laying down and it really helped me get better accuracy because while laying you are suppresing your whole arm which stops you from getting confused to play with an entire arm or wrist + fingers.
my tip here is that when playing with mouse you only move your wrist when going side side, and move your fingers when going up and down, you should have a fixed position for your wrist

I agree with the high sens tactic i play with 800dpi 4x in-game and barely got any mousedrift lol
using shoulder/elbow as rotation points is an early artist tips, so it carries over to playing osu with mouse for me. the point is getting bigger and smoother movement comes with losing accuracy. wrist movement will always be more accurate, but the wrist rotation limits movement
edit: 2:41 if you change the square movement to a circle, that's how artists draw neat "perfect" circle and also a way to do osu spins!

you could also try binding your pause menu to shift during a long slider or something
I actually lost to an 5 star map bc of this i was at the near edge of the keyboard then when the last jumps came in the mouse wasnt moving bc i ran out of mouse pad space.
idk if this works for others but i usually put my little finger down (touched the mousepad or table or anything where the mouse is), for me it works to stabilize my mouse movements and maybe it's the reason that i can reseat my mouse more precisely, but the downside is that it's not comfortable for long session because your little finger might get hurt. and that's my mouse experience in osu, hope this may improve your acc too!!!
For me when it’s a fast map and I get uncomfortable I slowly change my wrist position so that I won’t miss
spinner is good for adjusting or tell whether your hand are in the comfort and right position.(u can't spin good with mouse if your grip is bad)
i've been using 1600DPI 1x sens for 4 months and after all i started using 1500DPI 0.80x sens and i improved so fast

I myself haven’t experienced mouse drift and I don’t use my wrist for aiming since it messes me up as always and I play bhop that requires kind of straight mouse movements.

One of my main issues is that I experience too much friction between my arm and the desk, so I often time can't make any adjustments?
For me, rather than my mouse drifting to the side, it usually drifts down and eventually off the desk until I have time to put it back

the peak of mouse drift from me is where when the mouse drifted, the mouse keep getting far and far from my hand grip until its not my palm that hold the mouse, its my finger lol
I barely get any mouse drift but my hand slowly slips off my mouse and it scares me
What's also worse for me is that I have a very small desk and when having to aim down my mouse gets dangerously close to the edge of my table which throws me off

i use m wrist for horizontal movements but only my fingers for vertical movements
my problem is for some reason i unconsciously rotate from wrist to arm aim and back without even noticing

in the future, i wanna teadown a drawing tablet stylus and put it inside of a mouse
I played osu! with a trackpad, but then I noticed that the trackpad controls have the same problem just like mouse drift, but amount of space of where you moving is 5x smaller...
I don’t really have to worry about mouse drift because I have a ton of space

Repositioning the mouse is the worst thing u can do as a mouseplayer. You'll get really addictive to it and you will be fixing your mouse every second, which is not cool. The only way i fixed mousedrift was by increasing the DPI and Sensitivity. (When i started playing it was 1000 + 1.0, right now it's 5400 + 1.75). Keeping the mouse as straigt as possible is a good tip btw. The good example Andros who uses the fingergrip and his mouse is being straight all the time.
Also you can fix mousedrift by buying a tablet and making custom pen like hahabear did (or just by buying Wacom's old tablet with the mouse in it that can be used as a pen :) )
i use raw accel becauseif i use raw input for me is too slow on jumps and too fast on flow aim, like a stream, burst
I think one of the solution is just put on whatever sleeve that has low friction on your mousepad so that your skin won't be sticked to the surface and cant fucking mOVE.
This happens to me in aimlab, and my mouse drift is horrible, in a minute i move to the other side of the mousepad. Its pain
I just over time decreased my sensitivity more and more and play osu! for fun and before playing my favourite shooters, where low sensitivity is key and i just want to keep the mouse movement in a generally same area
so i picked up osu after a few years again now, with new mouse, new mousepad but wayy lower dpi and well the mouse drift is around 20cm in 30 seconds so the game becomes unplayable when there's a section longer than half a minute without pause
i had this problem for 5 years and always thought it was my mouse just being old or having a bad driver or the structure of my table being in a certain direction, but after all that time its still there so i guessed the game was at fault for that so i searched it up and realized i wasnt the only one having that lol
but there has to be something driver wise you can do to reduce that problem, no?

I used a way higher sens then I do now and I never really had mouse drift but when I lowered it I got better then had bad mouse drift tying to find a good tablet just to at least try it I've been playing mouse for quite a bit now I'm around 300k rn. I also need a better table tho because sometimes I'm in a comfortable and good position sometimes I'm not

Ahh you think you have drifting problems? You merely adopted the settings. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn’t watch tips for mouse drift videos until i was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but instinct!
You can also hit a corner of your screen with your cursor to move it back to a comfortable position.
It's tricky to do right quickly at first, but it's a learning process.

im knee deep in the sess pool that is playing with a mouse over the span of three years or so, my dpi has somehow made its way to 2450. I have no idea how I aim this way but it works for me. for anyone wondering my mouse is a logitech g502 proteus spectrum. I personally feel like the g502 hero (newer model) feels like cheap plastic junk compared to the previous model. I bought a second g502 to use with my laptop for when i'm not home and very quickly realized that I should take care of the one I have because I will never have another one like it. honestly a huge shame that logitech ruined the best mouse of all time somehow.
As previous mouse player i can say higher dpi wont help (i used 1000 dpi and 2.3x) on 20 min maps or even 10 and doing arm aim is not helping that much but it does. If you are pissed of cuz mouse drift just buy tablet

ima mouse player from 2018 and i have a laptop,. keyboard, and mouse. I have a wooden tabble i use for reading and like switched it for my mouse and keyboard so my hand wont end up like that. It helps alot.

The weird part is that I've been doing this ever since I got my pc (And before I knew about osu) without knowing (I was on xbox and only used computers at school)
As for keeping the mouse straight, I tried it and it really increases the tension on my wrist so I didn't like it (I am an arm aimer though)... I have a theory that if the mouse's sensor position is tilted, it can correct the drift problem.

I have a especially weird grip when it comes to mouse, and I don't experience drift that much or at all, instead of wrist movement I rotate de mouse or move it horizontally. I laid my wrist off the table and play fingers only
