The only reason I took an MSF class
It was the easiest way to get my license.
When it was over I was glad I took the class and learned a lot.
I took some advanced classes through the harley dealership later on. Had a fun time.
Im from Canada and have started my course in Quebec. I just finished watching the first 3 videos in this series. It has been a HUGE help as I am a visual learner (as yourself) plus I have 0 knowledge of a motorcycle, how it works, what the parts are etc. Reading the book and studying for the exam has been memorizing things I don't understand until I watched your videos, now I know what I am reading about, what I am studying and the answers to the questions. So a huge thank you for the way you teach, and the fact that you posted these videos. I love love love your videos. So a big thank you!

I’m doing exactly that. I bought a Harley, learned to get it going because of this guy… im taking the internet course tomorrow and the course next Friday Saturday and Sunday. This guy is helping me out so much because he explains it well and the video and audio is great quality

I don't know why I like watching, How to Ride videos.. I've been riding since 1972 on dirt and highway, on many, many different types of bikes for thousands of thousands of miles.
So, Congrats to You and Seminole Harley Davidson for this great learning tool. Even though I and others may have been riding for years, you never know what we may learn or remember about riding safely by watching this type of video. Especially us old farts like me being 64 years young and still riding strong. So, Have a great day and say hello to everyone.
I need pre MSF. Lol. The turns, u turns, etc is what stopped me. I had no experience and the instructors were critical and a bit harsh which my nerves into overdrive. I know it's super important for out on the streets and I know it takes tons of practice. I've asked high and low to get ready to take the class again, too avail. It's either MSF or advanced but no in between. I've found private instruction MSF classes in some places here in Texas but the average cost was $900!
Check out Jerry Palladino on CZcams. He teaches it all in his video and it's helped me a ton. It's all the in between skills you're looking for
Liz. If you really feel that you need some pre MSF Basic Rider Course practice, try getting on a bicycle again. Practice those slow speed maneuvers like uturns, tight turns from a stop. Regain confidence with your balance on two wheels so that you are not in your own head when you get on the motorcycle.

Took a msf class at a Harley dealer in Pennsylvania was a awesome time. Learned a lot. Definitely would recommend anyone who wants to ride to go to one. And in Pennsylvania it’s free to residents 😁passed it but was nervous as hell got to much in my head but I aced it. Now I want a Harley!
Just wanted to swing by and say I took the MSF in Texas on new years and these videos were a huge anxiety relief and help going in to it. The course was great and gotta say block, these videos were spot on and extremely helpful. You're great at explaining things. I really enjoy the instructional videos and hopefully you do more of the basic stuff.
Going to be taking mine in april, a little anxious for it but im glad that these videos seem to nail it on the head. I'm excited to ride!

I accidently squeezed my front break when taking my road coarse on a right turn. Locked up and went down . I had only one day rideing experience before that lol
ur videos about how to start up shift gears and use clutch and throttle were extreamely helpfull for me since i just started learning how to ride and my teacher explained it to me but i didnt really understood him but when i saw how u and other youtubers were riding and explaining i suddenly had it much more easier even tho u are using harley and im using suzuki but its still super helpfull to me so i thank you very much

Back when I had my bike the only problem I really had when riding was making a right turn from a stop. Seems like the bike just about wanted to fall over every time I tried to make that type of turn.
So if i wanted to apply the brakes i have to hold the clutch in right??
They help a lot by putting cones and markings on the ground showing you where to go
I hope the cones are more visible in person. Does anyone know if they are?
IMO I saw a problem with the motorcycle course I took a few years ago. They made a larger deal out of downshifting than I think it should be. Made it sound like you would instantly high side if downshifting incorrectly. Well the clutch is there and disengaging or increasing throttle is easy. A few videos I have seen shows the rider is looking at the tachometer and not the road.
Question 🙋♂️: when you ride do you put your foot next to the foot brake or rest on the pedal itself?
Don’t test it on the pedal bc it’ll cause the brake to drag and brake light be on. Put it beside or under it
Might be stupid but my friend said if you been on a bicycle that you can practice with that just put a helmet on and practice your slow turns is that true

This seems easy for people who ride already, but as someone who's never been on a motorcycle, it's intimidating and stressful A.

I agree. I took MSF having never touched a motorcycle before and failed the test because of the u-turn box by 1 point. I eventually retook the class and got a perfect score the 2nd time around. Some people learn slower than others and I'm one of them. Having access to info like this is even better though because you can get an idea of what you'll do. Best advice if you've never touched a motorcycle and are taking MSF is to ride a bicycle again and practice looking where you're going (I imagine that I have an eye on my chin and it has to look too). Those principles are all the same and if you can get good habits then you can focus on learning the friction zone and it should make things like turns from a stop and u turns a lot easier and those are the hardest parts of the class.

You can take the course at any Harley Davidson.
It's insane to me that you don't have to get a propper license for a motorcycle in the USA. These are drills and exercises that you have to do just to pass Phase 1 of your license in Europe. You have to do these drills on your practical driving test as well, but you won't be able to do a learning ride on the road if you can't show you can handle this.
All you have to do here is this course and you get an endorsement. Then you can buy any motorcycle you fancy.
