- Eva Lind & Die Fischer Chöre - Elisabeth Serenade 2007
Original von Günter-Kallmann-Chor 1961
Hör mein Lied, Elisabeth
Von der alten Allee klingt hin es zum See
Und von jedem Baum, es ist wie ein Traum
Elisabeth
Hör mein Lied, Elisabeth
Durch die alte Allee hinüber zum See
Und lauschend voll Glück der Zaubermusik
Elisabeth
Schatten der Vergangenheit
Schau'n herab vom alten Schloss
Elisabeth - Hudba

SUPERTALENT

The song was written in 1953, the addition of German lyrics turned it into an international hit. Very symbolic of the 'emotional' end of WWII
Einfach nur schön
Beautiful voice and scenery. Needless to say, the music is just heavenly. Enjoyed it much. Thanks for posting
beatiful Thank you from Australia
Ein Genuss!!🤗
As a young child when this was first released, it used to (and still does) send shivers up my spine, make my hair stand on end and my stomach roll. I wonder if it did/ does this for anyone else? 60 + years later; I now enjoy playing this on the organ for my friends, who request it.
+Allabarra Lantern yes im 61yrs old and still think its a wonderfull piece of music ALEX HALE
+Alex Hale ... and the composer lived in the next town, only about 15 miles from my home.

I'm 61 too, and remember this when I was a child, in England.
No! When I was living in Germany they had on the radio" Music the language of the world", I believe every word!
Ich mochte den Song und den Text Elisabeth Serenade, sowie Sprach Eva Lind.
Stunning gooseflesh tears in my eyes LOVE IT xxxxxxx
Preciosa canción. Me encanta.
music the language of the world!
Enchanting!
je wordt er stil van zoooo mooi
Love
Thank you. Kmehta. Binge is mocked by "serious" British critics for the superficiality and popularity of his works, which nevertheless are still a delight to whistle or hum. And to sing, if only I had English lyrics for them!
Piekne
Thank you for posting . I have enjoyed the video " very much " !
Rührend!
Que linda musica
It's on CZcams, Stunning considering it was made in 1944 and had major box office success.
Just beautiful...!
Que lindo canta
Schon.(Linda)....Ivo Hoffmann, Curitiba, Brasil.
Sehr Schon
fantastique cela fait plusieurs annees que je cherche cette chanson en allemand ma fille se nomme elisabeth
I have now found some English lyrics to this tune. They are "Where the Gentle Avon Flows" by the poet Christopher Hassell, but they are not well-known :-
Where the gentle Avon flows
and a trailing rambler grows
there is a window shining into the night
a window shining into the night
and the casement curtain flutters and glows in candle light
And a girl sits listening there
to a haunting old world aire
as if someone plays so softly below
so softly below, so softly below
she no longer hears the sweet serenade of long ago
See Louise Tucker "Only For You"
See Our First Virtual Choir by La Nova Singers for the rest of the English words to this song.
"No wonder this vid has so many views ! "

I am surprised it has so few.
Magnificent.
Ich sage nur…. Peter Alexnder hat am Gefühlvollsten gesungen. Ist für mich No.1
Thanks, Jaht3z! Binge is well known in the UK, not only for this but also for "Sailing By" from 1963, which became well known to sailors as it alerted them to the Shipping Forecast coming up after the Midnight News on BBC Radio 4. This latter tune has been dropped recently, much to the consternation of sailors. I hadn't realized that Elizabethan Serenade was written long before the Festival of Britain in 1952, which made it popular.
I also searched for The Gunther Kallmann - for both Elizabeth and another one called "Annabelle" .
one more comment vyou loveable person...the BEST
Мagnificent
wow
Einfach Herrlich ist ein Ohrenschmaus😅😅😅
you are so right. Many American songs where after the second world war plaid in Germany but with an German text! For instant, the democratic song: Happy days are here again" was "translated" to " weekend and sun shine and than with you in a forest alone"!, etc!
The melody is 'Elizabethan Serenade' by Robert Binge, an English composer. I don't know where these lyrics came from.

2019
thanks, watch "All is quite on the western front", about WW I !
how do i love thee;in german or english?
Gostaria de obter a partitura dessa musica.
Elizabethan Serenade
It was composed by an English composer,Ronald Binge in the early 1950s,I think to commemerate the coronation of her majesty Queen Elizabeth ii
Can anybody post the music score for this lovely song?
Of course Germany had the best song of WII with Lilli Marlene. Have you heard the Vera Lynn version (produced on orders of the British government)
das is noch deutsches kultur gut
There is no English version of this English melody!
hi, do you know the old english version?
Nagyon szép ez a szerenád ! Hol található a szövege magyarul ? Ha valaki tudja , megköszönném.
It cuts off early. Damn kraut. lol.
Original von Ronald Binge 1952!
If that interests you watch the film 'The History of Colonel Blimp' - a pro German Film, made in the UK DURING WWII. Awesome comment on what the British were fighting for.
German words, English Music. . . . .see what happens when people work together instead of trying to kill each other.
Wenn Eva Lind sich im Einklang mit der Musik bewegen würde, wäre das Playback wirkungsvoller und glaubwürdiger. Wer hat von unseren Gebühren Regie geführt ...wer ist der verantwortliche Redakteur..??????
7 people have got no taste.
Ein schönes Stück Musik.
Aber die Frau kann nicht wirklich singen.
