    For one year now, I learned cinema 4d and now I'm starting to learn Blender. I really try to like Blender, but I have a hard time doing it. It feels so complicated and you have to do so much extra clicking. At least in the beginning. As also my C4D starting experience is still fresh, I really can say, C4D is much more intuitive and easy to learn. Also the way the objects and modifiers are arranged is so much easier and better to oversee. Also C4D improved their modeling and sculpting tools greatly after taking over Zbrush.
    But in my specific use scenario, the texturing and rendering is the part of the process where I have to put the biggest effort in. And then it is more a decision between the renderer than between teh program.
    I would conclude like this: If you want to do animations for companies or work as a freelancer in the ad industry, go for C4D as the mograph tools are just insane. And the great noises and the animation tools will save you a lot of time and give you great results quickly.
    But if you just want to model stuff, maybe put it in UE5 or do product visualization with not overcomplicated animations, I would choose Blender, if I would just start.
    Short calculation: If you pay annually, you pay around 90 € a month for C4D and Redshift. If you go with blender and spend 90 € each month in addons, models, etc. you also have a quite nice package.
    In the end I would agree in saying Blender is great, but I would highly disagree in saying C4D is bad. If both softwares would be free I honestly doubt anybody would choose blender over C4D.

I will stay for another year because I want to see the transition to the newly programmed core of the software done. It looks very promising but if Maxon doesn’t deliver I will also switch.

    Great video man!! Blender is going to change the industry... watch this space... More studios are moving over the Blender. I currently do all my commercial work in Blender and I work for one of the biggest advertising agencies / studios on Earth so yeah. Everyone saying Maya / C4D etc is better is just plain wrong. Houdini is still an option for physics if you need something massive, but most other work can be done in Blender. Oh and I've tried all of them - I started with DOS 3D Studio, then used 3Dsmax in the early days - then I used Modo for a while, then C4D for a few years, then I used Maya for quite a few years as well. Then I started using Blender - never looking back.

But now that I don't have access to Maya for free anymore (my school gave it to us while we were students), I decided to work in Blender. But became a bit discouraged recently because a lot of the people I watch putting together all the incredible stuff I want to make seem to use Maya of C4. This video and your comment make me feel like sticking it out with Blender will be just fine, and won't hold me back.

      for web activities i would say spline is a great tool. besides you dont need too much lifting to beautify or explain anything on a web page. one thing to also note is always keep in mind what you want to achieve. if its basic 3d then sure, you dont need an advanced software with a messed up user interface to confuse you. just get a basic and easy going software to make your work easy and fast. spline is the best guy for your kind of work.

       @victoria it depends on the kind of portfolio you are looking for. both software approach animation differently. i think three.js is an easy to use motion graphics software. the coding involved is a not for me because i dont do coding. blender on the other hand is an all round complete animation suit. also you get tons of tutorials to help you with whatever animation you want to do.

    2:34 Already I see the clutter from a UI designed before modern widescreen monitors became available. Note how every side of the work area is cluttered with icons, reducing the space available for actually seeing your scene. Now compare Blender, which keeps most of the clutter to the sides, maximizing the size of the 3D viewport.
    Also note the popup dialog, which Blender mostly avoids, because this sort of thing just slows down your workflow.

      this is a huge problem I have with most software's, I do my best to rearrange most of my user interface to look easy but I don't do that anymore because it's boring. I was working on a video talking about software user interface optimization and monitors but I don't think people care about that. I have a problem with how houdini is set up, Maya, mocha pro, element 3d, cinema 4d and DaVinci resolve. I think it's something we have to deal with in the meantime. but thanks for noting that very detail to me again.

      @3D_Review  Před 2 lety

      hmm thats a tough one pal. c4d xparticles doesn't work with blender at this moment and also blender at this moment doesnt have a replica of xparticles. but there are other simulation and vfx ad-dons you can search and try out in blender, if mastered properly could give you some good results as xpartices. one thing to note is blender as at now isn't still good at motion graphics and thats something i guess they still want cinema 4d to handle. overall blender isnt the best place to start motion graphics. if you want to go motion graphics full time then you should look forward to spending on c4d. thank you

    Cinema 4D's UV mapping, especially the Paint Setup Wizard, produces better results than Blender's Smart UV Project. Modeling in Blender is actually less demanding, and this is achieved by good memorization of hotkeys. But both Cinema 4D's shortkeys and right-click features are still useful. By the way, I don't understand why Cinema 4D is so far behind, especially in digital game development. Because Maxon bought ZBrush? Is it because Max and Maya is an old and well-established program? Is it because Blender is completely free? Or is it the lack of sculpting tools? "We already have ZBrush..."
    Finally, the usage areas of both programs may vary depending on the purpose of use. I use both. I'm not a monogamist or a software fascist when it comes to learning applications and softwares. This stems from curiosity and the desire to learn. Blender may be a few clicks ahead in the modeling phase, but Cinema 4D is much further ahead in visualization, simulation and animation. With love...
