Has anyone got a name of the exercise being done by McKenzie in the background at 2:30? Or any advice on how to fit it into a core workout (sets, reps etc.)
That said, there is no excuse for walking the bar forward out of the rack, especially those racks. I've trained there, it's way too easy to bang the plates on the hooks, as the hooks are way too close together. It's way safer to walk it out backwards.
To all the "experts" in the comments saying how they need to be lifting maximum weight... You wouldn't last 2 seconds on the paddock with these monsters so be quiet.
Well it's a gym video. Not a rugby video. So it invites comments about the gym. That's fair isn't it ? Of course they aren't powerlifters. I wonder if they have a strength coach.
A lot of pro teams in sports do this. Been studies that show for athletes that half squatting or 3/4 squatting can still create the same force and less abrasive on hips/knees/ankles than full ROM squats.
@@vance9090 Incorrect, different depths cause stress on different tendons, ligaments and soft tissue. Most sheer force happens way before parallel. Shorter ROM squats have shown to high jump and sprint speeds, but much give less muscle growth than regular squats. An athlete should be doing both. Full ROM squats can be good for the knees as it decompresses certain parts of the ligaments and tissue, but ofc not if it makes you round your back, cave your knees in etc.
@@F-Tier_Physique I ain’t disagreeing with you at all. But you take professional sports in America, hockey, football, basketball and even top level college programs here like Alabama or an Oklahoma, they all cut their ROM to about 3/4. They do not teach A2G for these guys.
And it's clearly working for them. They never go below parallel on the pitch. At the end of the day they're training for elite level sport not body building.
For rugby a full squat is actually not necessary as a full squat will develop muscles not used whilst playing rugby. However a half squat has been shown to increase verticale jumping power and driving force.
@@Tom-vu1wr no not necessarily too much muscle in places they don’t need will use unnecessary energy I know manu tualagi has so much muscle he’d get tired so they adjusted his training so he’d get muscle where he needed it
@@Tom-vu1wr no manu is an extreme example he apparently builds muscle at extraordinary rates so he has to specialise it, you don’t know how to specialise training for muscle then I assume. @@chrisbuesnell3428 There was a study done that suggested heavy half squats and quarter squats translate better to sprinting and jumping once you already have significant leg strength, which these guys do. They do what they need to be in top condition for the weekend. Its nordic hamstring curls so as the name suggests, its for ur hamstrings not really ur core
Loooool that's a ham thing
Its a bodyweight glute ham raise. You definitely need a partner to do them by yourself. Or else buy a ghr machine
Same exercise that Caleb Clarke is doing at 1:32, only Caleb is doing them with a machine rather than having someone assist him
