I hate hate hate how marinette is white-washed in the show , I’m not Chinese but I’m Mexican , and I don’t know if this is a difference in culture but typically first generation children of imagrants usually know thier home language , and it infuriated me that marinette didn’t know her home language and had her love interest ( a white man ) give her mandarin lessons , marinette in the show also never really acknowledge her Chinese heritage nor takes pride in it and it bugs me
I had the same thought. I think it could have been nice if she was a bit more of a Spanglish kid, knowing both French/English and Chinese but slipping up sometimes.
Knowing the language can vary from person to person, for example, my older brother speaks fluently in English in Spanish, I speak okay in Spanish but often switch back and forth and my little bro speaks very little Spanish unless family visits.
Yes! Also, why did it so many years for Marinette's parents to even introduce her to her Chinese heritage after 14 years? Mainly it's her mom Sabine who should have atleast introduced her to speaking atleast few or more Mandarin language, their tradition, and food? 🤔
Yep, or at least explain why her mom decided not to. Like perhaps, the mom had a strained relationship with her family and she was ashamed of being Chinese and that's why she never taught Marinette.
But what bugs me the most is the eyes 😅
the thing is, sabine is always wearing a cheongsam/qipao. she would not be ashamed of being chinese, and would have brought at least some knowledge of their chinese heritage to marinette. it literally makes no sense for marinette to not have at least some strong knowledge of it when her mom is wearing traditional chinese clothing all the time.
I’m half Chinese like her and I cannot describe how much it pisses me off.
Hell she could have even just have been whitewashed but try to learn more about her heritage as someone who is half Chinese (My dad is a first generation immigrant child but my grandma was whitewashed and the only one who raised him).
I watched your Miraculous Redesign video, I enjoyed that you incorporated more Chinese heritage in both of their outfits, and mostly I enjoyed how you made Marinette autistic.
If you ever thought about doing a voice recast may I suggest Sue Ann Pien to voice Marinette? She's an actress and autistic too, she was in a lead role in Amazon Prime's original series, As We See It and currently voicing June Chen on The Ghost and Molly McGee.

things i like about this:
- marinette being on the autism spectrum(because i have autism).
-the design you gave marinette is fucking adorable i just wanna cuddle her to pieces.
-you making nathaniel her best friend because they do get along and that could set up more drama when he becomes eviltrator.
-her father being dead like thomas astruc's original idea.
-tikki originally being a powerful chinese sorceress.
-the fact china covered it up, i'm a sucker for conspiracy theories.
-the fact hey in montreal canada instead of paris because i think marinette would dream about going to paris since she has a taste for fashion. that and you can still have characters act french.
- you making ladybug taller because i can believe your version of cat noir would find her sexy and attractive.
things i don't like about this:
- you making Marinette 17 instead of 14. the way you drew marinette makes her like a little too petite to be a 17 year old. someone who is almost a legal adult.
- you changing her powers. you claimed she was too op but said she was a powerful sorceress that ruled all of china. if she was that powerful wouldn't make sense that she would have op abilities
The issue with playing Marinettes stalker tendency's for laughs is well... it happens to often, like one 'WTF?' moment would be funny, but it happens so much I'm like: 'Adrien, run she's crazy!'

I'm going to do a rewrite of the story and I'm thinnking that I'll make it that, the show design for ladybug costume is like the default set. Once the holders pretty much get very comfortable with them being Miraculous holder, their costume will gradually change to fit their current point. Also chloe is good and her half sister zoé is like their mom. Overall i like your idea and might steal something here and there😊

.... Honestly, after watching the 'lore' bit of the video, I'm just like. 'Why not make your own story with some inspirations from the Miraculous world?' with how different you talked on the lore, it's nearly unrecognizeable from the concepts of Miraculous as it is in the show... so like. Why try and use it for a character you don't really seem to enjoy when you can make your own character instead? Though the way you made Mari look is absolutely adorable.
I love how you redesigned Marinette, and making her design look more of her Chinese culture and I love how you change the look of her hero from, I really like how you did it. I want you to do Adrian super bad because I hate his design❤ also PS I love your art by the way❤😊

I think your Marinette redesign looks really cool!! I really like the hairstyle and the color palette is really pleasing. I think the design is great but I don’t personally think it fits Marinette’s character very well.
Marinette has never seemed like a particularly shy girl to me. She has a large group of friends that expands through the series, she’s always getting involved in local activities or events, she’s a leader, etc. The only times she’s ever seemed shy is when she wasn’t Ladybug before the show started + when she’s around Adrien. Her attitude around Adrien is awkward and sometimes a little shy, but it’s always drawn attention to that she’s specifically like that around Adrien because of her feelings for him. So, I don’t really understand why this redesign focuses so much on Marinette being shy and reserved when usually she isn’t in the show.
She’s also constantly running around, whether it’s because of her work at the bakery and as Ladybug, or simply because she’s the type of person to run a lot. Later in the series she gets a scooter too, and I feel like the outfit you chose to give her (Mary Jane’s, a more bulky bag, heavier warmer clothing, and a restrictive skirt) doesn’t apply to her lifestyle in the show. I don’t think that’s necessarily a problem since this is just a general redesign, but it came to my mind.
I see a lot of people interpret Marinette as shy and I don’t understand why. Adrien is already a quiet protagonist who gains confidence from his miraculous. I can’t help but feel like making Marinette reserved plays a lot into typical tropes for female leads in romance/teenage stories.
In general though, I really like your redesigns and I’m glad you shared them! I haven’t seen any of your other videos yet but I’m excited to check them out. Thanks so much for sharing your art
This may be an unpopular opinion, but Ladybug misusing her powers in earlier seasons isn’t an as big of an issue for me than for others simply because….it’s literally what a 14 year old with powers would do. It makes sense for her to misuse her powers in the beginning.
My only issue was how hypocritical the show got with misuse of powers. How Marinette and Adrien were able to fool around with their powers at the beginning and then grow to use them more seriously but others can’t mess up the same/a similar way and grow like them (I’m talking about Chloe if it’s not obvious-)
Another unpopular opinion is (despite these types of designs being top tier and beautiful a hell) I don’t think giving Ladybug a Chinese style outfit is a good idea ( especially when it’s so close to her normal outfit like your version) because it kinda makes it easier to tell who she is.
I believe LB’s outfit should be busy enough to be not boring but not too much to where it stands out too much. Especially when Marinette apparently seems to be the only Chinese child in Paris.

It doesn’t matter if you went to school. Doesn’t mean there is anyth ing wrong with the design or that you know everything. Just say in your opinion I think they are a bit too similar so let’s just do it this way and see how it looks” instead of insults the whole time. Makes it toxic. I also could tell immediately she was Chinese and she isn’t white washed. I’ve met many with her skin tone. Not all look the exact same plus she is onbo mixed her dad isn’t Chinese soooo yeah. She can look like both without cancelling out her father or having to be the “right shade of Chinese”
Both your designs also look too similar and can tell the style of cloths is the same just dotted and red with a different hair style. Should have magic change her eye color, her body shape, her hair color all that. Then it makes sense

She's still French, and the official show sees her as French, but how many times do you see any reference to her being Chinese? She's just as much Chinese as she is French, and even the redesign doesn't have a lot of Chinese elements.
And you getting upset at her for adding more Chinese elements to her design kinda makes you come off as racist dude...
