How to play horde, a Minimuffin guide.
Step 1: declare war and full annex your neighbors to get some wary dev
Step 2: repeat step 1 as needed
Step 3: *in horse* profit
In this universe the Europeans go on a crusade to Los Angeles to free Disneyland from the natives
Okay, so, here's some quick information on playing a horde.
Basically, flower wars. Keep a few relatively weak and isolated neighbors around and when your Unity starts dropping just beat them like a red headed step child. Make a white peace once you've looted everything and you'll be able to do it again in five years.
While you CAN raze provinces I don't really recommend doing it unless you've got some development cost exploit going on (like if you've got The Idea Variation and have just stacked your ideas for development) or you really need the boost.
Only burn mana (or provinces) for unity if you have to. Most of the time its more worth it to take the hit of fighting down the rebels than to keep it high enough to avoid them, and while the discipline is nice you usually don't need all of it.
Most other information I have is kinda specific to how I have it set up in my personal mod so I can't really give hard mechanics. AFAIK unless you're Tengri you can't maintain 100% Cav ratio which is what you really need to change Hordes from "okay but limited" to "actually pretty impressive".
