Rise of the samurai. They look bad because they were resized. Add to that the fact that the originals were ment to be rectangular and in medieval the dude made them into squares and you have a weird jpg.

Am I the only one who likes Rise of the Samurai? It's completely historically accurate and it's meant to be harder with more of a reliance on levy units. Samurai's aren't cost-effective so you can't just spam them to win. Everything about it is unique even the naval battles. People who don't like it either never gave it a chance or don't understand anything about the time period.

In all seriousness Medieval 2 is set on a confined map where you're only able to move within the map, but not move outside the map. You can't transport yourself to the other side of the world from going left or right to the edge of the map. I mean you could transport by cheating via console command that's the closest thing of doing it.
But yeah. It's a *flat world!* It's not Empire Total War where you can move from one region of the world to another.

For people who have trouble keeping medieval 2 from crashing: Download Large Adres Aware and set the RAM limit to 2gb on kingdoms.exe. This works for mods too.

A good mod combo is third age total war combined with the sub mod divide and conquer if you're feeling like some good old lord of the rings.
BOTET is also a great total conversion, he should try them both :D

If your mods crash your game install the 4 gb patch found online, it allows medieval 2 to access 4 gb of RAM which crashes your game less when playing mods

A really interesting Medieval 2 mod to try if you haven't already is Planetwar. Its interesting, especially when you recruit mercenary armies of Teletubbies and Krogan Warriors to trample a army of Demons from DOOM into the ground.
