While I can understand his argument, it was extremely tone deaf to say this NOW and coming from the person that worked to help the perpetrator. That’s just gross.
Would he complain that the judge made a mistake if the victim was his own daughter?? Yes he would! He would probably ask the judge to add another 10 years to the maximum 25 year-sentence.
I’m glad you showed your skill as a defense attorney good luck getting clients your team was absolutely horrendous! I would’ve fired you the first day.
Im a retired county law enforcement officer. But I genuinely understand Defense Attorneys work, acto ,, for the most part . As I know many Honorable Defense Attorneys. But this Defense lawyer? May God have Mercy on his soul,,,as I WONT.
The only thing this defense attorney achieved was a weak ground of appeal for ineffective assistance of counsel for the defendant , which he won’t succeed on as the evidence was overwhelming against him
Wow he actually said sending the man who killed their relative to jail brings nothing? Makes no difference? BS! Maybe not closure but justice. Yes. He did it no mistake no jury is going to set him free. Ever
Def lawyer has to say this. It's his job to act like he loves his client even though everybody knows what he really thinks. If he were on the other side he'd be saying the opposite.
What mistake? This was a just, fair trial. Above board, and by the book. Monahan showed no remorse, acted with no impulse control and intended to do harm...he could have acted differently, engaging the kids, as they rolled down the windows, answering "You're in the wrong driveway, careful when you back up.." But he CHOSE to do something else. That was the mistake, if we need to qualify his actions, when all is said and done. And Kaylin has been buried.
Good lord, Defense attorney - save it. The victims family deserves justice and its appropriate that the judge meted it out. What did this defense attorney expect? Every point the judge made is spot on. Its an appropriate sentence for a finding of guilt the jury found.
I actually admire the second attorney. I know it's far from a popular position but I do believe that a strong defence is necessary for a strong justice system. If we didn't have strong protections for the accused, if we didn't allow for strong advocates for the accused, we would never have made the kinds of incredible technical leaps I've seen just in my lifetime. Why would we? In countries with kangaroo court systems, all they have to do is pick out a likely defendant (meaning the poor, the powerless, the politically inconvenient like Alexei Navalny) and that's all they have to do. Why develop genetic genealogy, which involves hundreds to thousands of hours of research when you don't really need it for a conviction? That second attorney has passion and drive. He is part of what keeps our justice system strong.
What an idiot, dude just defeated his own appeal. " I felt the same way when my brother was MURDERED back in 1979." He just admitted to what his client was found guilty of thus bolstering the prosecution's indictment and the subseuent verdict. This is not quite Alina Haba level of incompetence but its up there. Good luck in appellate court. 😆
This attorney sounds like a very wise man, and I agree with him about the judge's rulings in this case; the judge imposed a clear bias, and he should of recused himself.
Have you seen the picture of the girl that was shot? Tell me how you fear for your life. As a father if this hadn't been resolved I would have done it personally... All those years in the Marine corps in Army aren't going to waste.
He says the judge made mistakes, but really only Kevin Monahan made mistakes.
This defense lawyer is utterly tone deaf.
Has to say that to justify his billable hours.
Crap lawyer crap human.
Doing his job as a defense lawyer, someone has to do it
@chrisshaffer2949 his job is to make sure his client gets a fair trial not get him off for something he did.
This lawyer is just having a tantrum because he lost
"Artificial sense of closure"- what ahorrible e thing to say! Takes away what little comfort this poor family may have had.
While I can understand his argument, it was extremely tone deaf to say this NOW and coming from the person that worked to help the perpetrator. That’s just gross.
He tampered with evidence and lied that means he knew in the moment that what he did was wrong
How can you sleep at night
Would he complain that the judge made a mistake if the victim was his own daughter?? Yes he would! He would probably ask the judge to add another 10 years to the maximum 25 year-sentence.
This lawyer is the epitome of low character and moral deficiency.
I’m glad you showed your skill as a defense attorney good luck getting clients your team was absolutely horrendous! I would’ve fired you the first day.
As Willy Wonka would say: you lose! You get nothing! Good day sir!
defense lawyer = no shame
This lawyer is a self-righteous tool.
Love the judge for letting the fam say goodbye to the fellon at the end!
Bald lawyer you should be in jail too
Why? For what?
He is Just doing His Job.
@@kornburg14what lawyer accuses a judge of basing his sentence because of “this is an election year” nonsense?

I doubt this case will get overturned on appeal. Story is baloney. The man tried to say the gun went off by mistake but also felt he was in danger?
What a hack
Wow he actually said sending the man who killed their relative to jail brings nothing? Makes no difference? BS! Maybe not closure but justice. Yes. He did it no mistake no jury is going to set him free. Ever
I love the fact that your client is going to be in jail for the rest of his life
Next thing you'll hear is that he is on the Cheetos defense team!
Tell your client don't drop the soap

Lawyers are scandalous.

I'm thinking they just phoned this in and lost because they want to appeal to a gun friendly judge.
Under the circumstances, why did Kevin Monahan take out a shotgun?
That's what defense lawyers do: lie what ever to get client off, worked for o.j.
O. J. Bought that jury!
😂
This attorney didn’t help his client fully because of the binders!
Defense attorney disagrees bc he lost and reputation as a defense attorney is one notch lower.
This defense attorney is everything wrong with the US legal system.
The bottom line is someone is dead. That man deserves to be in prison FOREVER.
Murder is murder. This was murder.

He's a horrible person.
So sad to see what Fox News does to old people. Good thing he is locked up now and will never be able to vote for a republican again.
AMEN!
Kevin's a registered Democrat.
The old republican that shot at the kayakers in Arizona back in 2017 got 22 years and he didn't even hit anyone. @@anythinggoes5574

2nd Attorney: "I Love my client"(he pays my bills), of course, I'll have to share him with the prison population now.😭🩳
