These department heads should not be allowed to NOT answer questions that are simple questions concerning their departments, even if it is a question asking about their opinion about something that impacts their department.
Hold them in contempt and take legal measures to make them answer questions, yes or no.

First, thank you Forbes for these videos regarding the questioning by our elected representatives. I have watched several of the interviews with Secretary Cardinals and it amazing me how an appointed official can continue to deflect so as not to answer simple questions. What ever happened to simple and truthful “yes” or “no” answers. It is truly sad to see some of the key appointments made by this administration. Would it not be better to find qualified and honest appointees - sorry , just sad state of affairs.

Watching multiple committee members ask this Sec. of Education questions is disgusting! He is so evasive and if I were asking the questions I would be extremely frustrated! The dept of education needs a complete overhaul & Miguel Cardona needs to be replaced! By refusing to answer simple questions it shows to me he is unqualified to hold that job.

If those who are in office feel this way about parents having concerns about what kids are being taught in school and being treated like criminals. Then those in office have no business being in office because stuff that is being taught in school these days should not be in classrooms
Breakdown of Cardona from a doctor of character;
"I'm focusing *now* sir on making sure our schools are getting..."
*"Right now* sir, in 2023 our focus is in making sure school boards _have enough dollars_ to provide the funding to the..."
Let me illustrate what psychology he just employed here.
"Sir, if you have questions for the, department of justice, I would, ask you.."
"I have complete confidence."
"We communicate regularly..."
He emphasizes both "Now" and "Right now"
He also changes his tone from an amicable but lightly defensive one, to an a sharply accusational one, along with his entire body language, and shifts back after "dollars".
It was evident that he's telegraphing to onlookers. The message is pretty clear.
A. He's not concerned with what he did 2 years ago, and just like a guilty person caught, he would rather focus on anything but the crime.
He has animosity towards republicans, and is partisan political. If he didn't start that way, he has allowed himself to become that way.
B. Using "Now" and "Right now" when it's very clear that Rob Good is talking about 2 years ago, and has said "2 years ago" at least once, casually.
Now, and Right now seem almost defensive to this. As if to blithingly disagree one what we should be focused on... see adendum 1.
C. Being defensive doesn't net you the win, you need to be aggressive, specially in DC. So then Cardona insinuates that republicans are preventing schools from "having enough dollars" by changing his tone and body language, see addendum 2.
D. His "sir" is a bit forceful, he's also having to make short pauses a lot, this is because Bob is doing a good job at pressuring him while also allowing him to answer most of the question. Bob keeps knocking Cardona off balance, which makes Cardona fumble with his recently rehearsed "what to answer", "what not to answer", and "what are my lines". This is most evident when Cardona is sloppily passing a question to DOJ.
E. A referential statement. Your confidence doesn't mean anything to anyone, and it doesn't provide an answer. The question for "do you support" was asked for a third time, and more stumbling. This is really damning, and they will never understand why. If you can't say one way or another, it's because you have said otherwise elsewhere, and probably for money or power. You know what the truth is, and the truth would probably incriminate you in this instance. You could also lie about it, but your actions will prove that you lie.
F. When asked if Cardona has helped protect parents at school board meetings, he answered "yes", but it was in an almost cheering tone. As if, he couldn't wait for the "ally question." He was then asked why, and went with "We communicate regularly..." < This is to build confidence in anyone listening, they might be likely to turn and talk to a relative who's also paying attention or passing by. They are celebrating and ignoring what is about to be said next, so the performer hopes. He then says, "with, uh, all stakeholders, including parents, including board officials around the US." This is blanketing... he made sure to separate parents, but that they go second so his donors would not lose confidence, and by board officials he mans the unions who's egos must be stroked at the same breath, see addendum 3.
1 - We The People are focused on about 2-3 years ago, that's when this started. You can choose to be focused on whatever you want Cardona.
2 - One would guess you are supposed to assume this hearing somehow pausees or impedes cashflow within the school system.
3. - Cardona is attempting to just be everyone's attaboy and that doesn't work. In fact, when Cardona realizes he does this, he puts on a smile, and begins to talk about parents, because Bob probably gave a reaction that tipped off cardona to how transparent the statement was to parents alone. That is also why Bob ends with building anti-positive rapport with an affirmation statement, "well, I'm glad to hear you say that..." in a harsh tone, followed by educating the audience bout what was heard.

I thought the answers were pretty good. I do have a problem with the 5 minute method. It does not allow enough time for context and honest discussion. I think the rules committee needs some attention.
