- The Volkswagen Virtus is probably one of the hottest cars on the market right now with many enthusiasts being hyped for the tuning potential! Except, there is one problem, you cannot tune the VW Virtus, yet. The VW Virtus along with its siblings, the Skoda Slavia, VW Taigun and Skoda Kushaq all have a "locked" ECU from the factory. This is true for both of the engines, the 1.0L TSI and the 1.5 TSI. Watch the video to know more about this situation!

This was a similar situation for the Nissan Gtr. When the r35 was launched in 2006 like that. Nissan themselves said that "It's a most secure ecu ever and no one car Crack it." Look now, everyone r35 out on the road are somewhat tuned.

1. ECU and ECM though different terms mean the same thing! ECU stands for 'Engine Control Unit' whereas ECM stands for Engine Control Module.
2. TCM and BCM are two different modules. TCM stands for 'Transmission Control Module' and controls how your transmission works, whereas the BCM stands for 'Body Control MOdule' and controls the electronics installed on your car body, wipers, signal lights, central door locking, power windows and so on.
To tune the car you have to unlock the ECU/ECM as it is through ECU that you can flash custom maps for your engine, again for which you need the stock map.
Every module has its own security key. To remap the engine you need security key for the engine/ecu and to unlock other modules, you need security key for the respective models.

What year are we talking? Revo unlocked the DADA variant of the engine but I haven't found any DPCA remaps yet (meaning the newer years). Revo is currently in the testing phase for the latter. There's no commercial flash tool for the 2022 1.5tsi as far as I know and as per several tuning companies I've asked. Do you have any info who unlocked it?

Guys, slight correction, M in ECM and BCM stands for Module
In the end you said, "1.5 TSI is the engine to have for tuning". but those models have a DQ200, Doesn't that will lead to reliability issues?. there are hundreds of articles on the internet, discussing the DQ200 but it all gets confusing after reading a few lol. Would like to know your opinions on that! hehe
Yes, the DQ200 is infamous for its reliability. The breakdown stories present in the internet are a lot and also they handle upto 250Nm of torque only which is at its max with the 1.5 TSI tune which is 150hp and 250Nm. So if you are tuning a dsg a lot of people suggest a DQ250, which handles around 400 Nm if I recall(the suggestion is if you are doing a project car).
But the 1.5 TSI manual is a safe bet for tuning. The only exception here is the Virtus as it does not have a 1.5 manual.

Another problem is that the 1.5l TSI (except Slavia Manual)comes with that DQ 200 with a max torque limit of 250NM.😢
I remember reading on TBHP that with a TCU remap, it can handle up to 300 maybe even 350 NM

@@karthiknaik3944 The old Octavia did come with the DQ200 with a torque of 250NM from the factory and the new ones are using the DQ381. DQ200 with a Dry Clutch does have a maximum torque limit of 250 NM.
I do know that the TCU can be tuned as well.

Code 6, Autopsyche, GT Tuners Delhi cracked 1.5 TSI. The stage 1 puts 175-180HP with 320nm of Torque. IK this video was released way ago. It's been a month since tuners have cracked the 1.5 TSI ECU. It's been an honour boys!

What will happen if the stock ecu is replaced by an Haltech ECU?
I recall reading that modern engines are so complex and have so many parameters and tight tolerances that it would not run smoothly. What you CAN do is swap in an unlocked ECU from an older year of the same car and learn it to your car. But then you'd have a millage discrepancy between the ECU and the clock
Quantum tuning has a tune listed for both 1.0 & 1.5 tsi though, Then again
As seen with skoda laura a stage 3 can push out anywhere 330 to 350 hp
And the stock civic 1.8 (R18A) once turbocharged gives out between 370 to 470 hp
It will be the same case time and time again
Cars made with turbo in mind have lesser gains at end stage modifications since they were designed to rely on it.
Unlike na engines which were designed to not to rely on forced induction, it creates more power when added as the engine is using it as supplement , rather than being reliant on it

I have a polo 1.6 tdi. I have tuned this car from 3 different tuners over the period of 5 years. At last i settled with an APR tune. I am so sorry for the upcoming car enthusiasts and cars that you all won't have that privilege i or the many other car enthusiasts who own these toys can do or enjoy doing. So do one thing. Go to the TDH classifieds and get yourself a real mans car.

If someone cannot to wait to tune their car and can spend money, the VW Jetta and VW virtus in India share the same engine with same power figures, so you can order stage 1 and 2 ecu and tcu tune also intakes, intercooler and everything from North America.
Is the 1.5 not the same engine as the T Roc as well?
Doesn't matter as speed limits are coming everywhere 60 to 100 is now mostly in main cities so where are you going to use all this. It's actually better they just make it more difficult and almost impossible to modify and add speed lock at 120s

Its not any tuner that unlocks the ecu. Its actually the manufacturers of the tools the tuners use. 21+ bmw ecu's has been unlocked by xhp, 21+ vag car ecus has been unlocked by autotuner and the 1.0tsi and 1.5 crdi from hundayi has been unlocked by cmd.

DQ200 cannot be tuned it supports only 150 bhp and 250nm of torque and ecu remap is impossible in these conditions or else go to the service center every week
No bro you tune vw virtus easily but a high amount of money is paid if you want tune your virtus just change engine wiring and ecu. But that costs more than tuning into stages.

In theory yes. On my 1.5tsi seat you can swap in an older year (but same car model) ECU and learn it to the car
But I don't know if the virtus has older versions where they cracked the ECU.

Brother the car is too new and it just came out. For the software developers it takes time to crack the ecu and come out with tunes and mods for a car. German cars are the easiest to tune among everything. Just wait for 6 months and you’ll have so Many mods for the virtus.
