I love this machine. Just bought one a few days ago! You probably figured this out buy now, but it actually does double seal all the time. The reason you got a single seal was because you opened it too soon. The seal light was still glowing when you opened it. Which makes me wonder if that is a feature, if you want a single seal to pull it open early. When I first used mine, I didn't use the instructions yet and only got a single seal every time because I opened it too soon. I learned by watching a CZcams video that I have to wait.
Anyways, no biggie. Just thought I'd mention that in case it is somehow helpful.
I stumbled across your video because I'm looking to see if anyone has a video on how to use the hose that came with the machine. Not that that is very important to me, but could be useful.
Do you sous vide at all?
"Hi! Thanks for the comment. And you're right, I figured it out in the lab later, haha. This was my first time unboxing it, so I wasn't yet familiar with all of its quirks. By the time I realised, the video's already been published so we couldn't do a correction.
I'll be sure to credit you in future corrections, haha!
As for the hose, you can plug one end to the "External Pulse Vacuum" port on the control panel. The other end is designed to work with Anova's "Precision Port" vacuum bags. These bags have a port that's compatible with the air hose. Essentially, this setup allows you to seal and reseal the bag as needed without having to cut open another plastic bag. Could be pretty useful!
And as for your last question, yes! I do cook sous vide steak from time to time, haha.
Thanks!
- Matthew"
@@HealthyKitchen101 Haha. Ok I thought you probably would have figured that out on your own. I wasn’t trying to correct your video but just for your own sake I wanted to be sure you knew in case you wondered why does it only do a sing seal in this mode. 😊
Yes sous vide is the best!
Hi! It's not an issue. I'm glad that you found the video interesting enough to engage and give your own corrections, which are always welcomed.
P/s: Sous vide is the best way to make steak in my opinion. Always so juicy.
Thanks!
One feature other vacuum sealers have that I havent seen addressed for this one yet is a removable drip tray. If you vacuum something where liquids come out of the bag- 1 is there a removable tray to easily clean the liquids out of???? 2 can the liquids go down into the vacuum pump destroying the pump or how has the pump been protected?
Hi! You have a great point, and we'll definitely be highlighting this part in future videos. There's a reason, however, why we're not addressing it right away in this video. This is meant to be an unboxing and first impressions of the sealer, like we mentioned at the end, we'd conduct more detailed test in a separate video and article!
This video is only meant to show you what's in the box, plus whether the sealer's capable of performing basic tasks first.
Thank you for the feedback!
Two questions:
1. Does that machine require its own plastic material? Can you use it to seal your own plastic bags? Are there machines that let you do that?
2. Can you seal without vacuuming first? Sometimes I want air remaining in the bag.
Hi! Thank you for reaching out. To answer your questions:
1/ Nope! These machines are compatible with standard 12-inch-wide plastic bag rolls you'll find on Amazon, Walmart, and other outlets. Anova also sells their own bags, but you don't necessarily have to buy theirs.
2/ No problem, just place the open seam into the machine and use the "Seal" function on both ends. It won't vacuum unless you use the "Vacuum & Seal" button.
@@HealthyKitchen101 Does it need a specific type of plastic or can we use any regular plastic? The reason is not that I want to avoid the cost, but sometimes I might want to reseal an existing bag or I want to use some other standard bag. I want to take advantage of their heating and sealing strip, nothing else.
@@woofinu No, it requires it's own bags, they DO however sell reusable/resealable bags (both Amazon, and Anova for use with the precision port & hose).
Why do you need so many tea kettles?
Funny you should ask. Stay tuned for the list of the best electric kettles, coming soon!
@@HealthyKitchen101 ok then I guess I should subscribe!
