Gary I love you you saved me from getting beat by my mother
Lol that's funny
LMFAOOO
literally what i’m doing rn😭😭
Excellent troubleshooting logic explained. Thanks a lot, Gary!
I find myself in SAFE BOOT mode because I recently tried to upgrade my OS to Big Sur ... Big Mistake! My machine will not fully boot up in standard mode now because of this faulty software. Instead it sits on a black screen with the Apple icon and the loading bar. So now I'm in Safe Boot mode to try and save what files I have on my machine to an external drive BUT Apple eff'd that up by not letting ext USB devices to be connected. Apple I've been with you since the 80s and now I'm getting to the point where I want to drop you like a sack of flaming sh**! So pissed that I have to sit and listen to videos like this to find some hope that I don't lose my important documents.
I got the response in this video. I’ll try with a regular reboot now, to see what happens. Thank you so much, you really helped me. Stay safe bro!
Great! A really helpful review of the options to do with Safe Mode, and what to do when the Mac has problems. Thank you, Gary!
What does calculate statistics do Apple
Very informative video tutorial. Thank you, Gary! It’s so nice to know that there is help out there! 👍🏻❤️
This was very helpful. Thank you! 🙏🏻
Thank you. Good stuff!
What a great video, clear and concise.
Thank you so much! I’ve tried so many times and got it finally
Very useful, although I have not had to use it so far, but it"s sure good to know.
Should we be working with Administrator account, or should we use a standard account for day-to-day work? Is there a tutorial on this? Thanks Gary.
Brilliant Gary. Ive never needed to use it but having your tutorial will help me lots if I do need to use it. Thanks Gary and keep safe.
You can also contact @joseph__curry on Instagram because I’ve faced similar issues and was unable to fix that but he helped me
@@michealwayne6818 thanks.
Sounds like the troubles we used to have in System 7 with extension conflicts and such.
I download hundreds of CZcams videos every week but I noticed recently that the process of queueing videos was taking longer and windows wouldn't update properly and other spurious system problems were popping up. I tried a Safe Boot and it cleared up everything. I think it was the clearing of the caches that really helped. Since then whenever things start getting wonky I do another Safe Boot. I don't even log into the Safe Mode system, I simply reboot as soon as it comes up. The Safe Boot does run SO much faster now that I have an SSD, but it can still take an hour or more.
I mostly checked out the video to see how to do in on an M1. Looks more complicated.
I would suspect whatever you are using to download the CZcams videos as the culprit. It probably is leaving a mess behind. Maybe consider NOT downloading CZcams videos? Just bookmark them. Or, at the very least ask the creators of those videos for a downloadable version, and if it is OK that you copy their content like that.
Thank you very clear helpful
Thank you! 👍
ThiS WAS GREAT! I actually had to do some further googling because it still wouldn't boot in safe mode - and I had to use the option key and the power button instead of the shift key cause my computer is MESSED UP! 😭but I appreciate your video anyway because it definitively let me know how to do it and once I knew I was following your instructions and it still didn't work - I knew I had bigger issues - so thanks!
Thanks so much Gary! I have had a ton of issues with my external boot up diskIt’s where I do everything. It goes without saying that I am unable to install Monterey and had problems with updating to Ventura. I heard somewhere that you can download the OS and install it using safe mode. My fear before your video was that the needed extensions wouldn’t be available in safe mode, but as you explained third party software is somewhat disabled or you can see what the conflicts are when opening. I am hoping/ praying that I can in fact install the update in safe mode. It is looking normal as it is downloading,so it might work. I’ll update everybody later. Although I’m sure you already know the answer. Thanks again!
I recently had weird problems with my MBP (disconnecting from wifi, freezing for a long time, Finder showing multiple icons for the same file, etc.) and Safe Mode didn't really help there. I tried "resetting the PRAM" (or whatever it's called these days). And that seemed to help right away. We'll see long term.
Thank you so much for this informative video. While I hope I will not need to use safe mode, I nevertheless watched the video in the event that I do need to use it.
Very helpful. Thank you so much.
Can I use safe mode to delete files? My MacBook is freezing during update. I started in recovery mode and shows only 1.12Gb free space on hard drive.
Thank you sir
Thank you
YOU ARE MY LIFE SAVER
At lease safe mode on Mac isnt a pain in the neck to boot into like it is with windows (with windows im pretty certain the only way to boot into safe mode is to shut the computer off as it is trying to boot, and then hope that it comes up with the option to boot into safe mode when it is turned back on, and from memory windows has various safe mode options like "safe mode with networking")
sir how to fix keep stuck on safeboot. after shutdown. holding command + letter r the safeboot gone. but after another shutdown and then turning on the laptop the safeboot appears
Very informative, Gary, Thanks! I’ve been having problems with my late 2009 iMac. It will boot and stay on for about 2 or 3 mins, then turns off. This has been going on for about a three days or so. I’ve not downloaded anything new for the Mac. So, I’ve bought a new Mac that arrives today and was thinking It will stay on in safe mode long enough to transfer my data to the new Mac. Will the Mac in safe mode transfer all the data? Thanks, Gary.
If it works, that should be fine. Otherwise, you can always use Target Disk Mode. support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/transfer-files-mac-computers-target-disk-mode-mchlp1443/mac
@@macmost …as always, good info! Thanks.
Gary do M1 macs have the internet recovery feature like intel macs?
Yes. See support.apple.com/en-us/HT204904
how to convert a particular sheet from numbers to pdf file??? not all sheet together..
This issues are very comon on MacBook air
I tried putting a new ssd and its still continues with d fault
hi, can i try safe mode if my mac system storage is 90+ GB, I’ve already checked the files and don’t understand why it’s taking up so much space
Why? What is it you are trying to do with Safe Mode? If you want to clear space, see czcams.com/video/U5YktBFM3cw/video.html
my niece has a macbook air and when you login to it ,. it loads then the apple logo pops out and just sits there like that. she told me she needs some files from it so i went into safemode but im not a mac user so have no idea where the files are or how to access them anyone can help me with this??
Hi, I have a 12 inch early 2015 retina MacBook that I got of eBay for £85. It came pre installed with el capitan where it froze with lines and I had to do a full reboot to get working. I then upgraded it to OSX Big Sur a few months ago, and most problems have been resolved, just the occasional black screen for a few seconds which I would close the lid and open it back up to get rid of. But only recently has it started suddenly going black for 2 minutes and the trackpad doesn't respond. It also likes to freeze and hang for up to 5 minutes. I tried booting it into safe mode and it got rid of the freezing and hanging but the 2 minutes of black screen still persists. I don't know if it's a problem with the Mac, it does get real hot sometimes or if I just got a bad device from eBay but for now it's just unbearable to use. I think it's probably just a screen issue because when I start a screen recording in safe mode, when the screen goes back and I try toggle volume controls it it shows the volume popup. At this point, I don't know if it's a hardware or software problem (but the safe mode has stopped freezing) so please help me
Sorry, it is hard to help without a firsthand look. You need to take it to a repair shop and have them diagnose.
How do I uninstall 3rd program programs in safe mode? The icons aren’t in applications and I am trying to find them in finder but they aren’t visible there either. Thanks
Depends on the app. Have you gone to the developer's site and looked for uninstall info?
I have a MacBook Air m2 chip and it’s getting the beach ball. It has 8gb. I work from home on the internet. Do I need a computer with more memory? I had my computer for a year and it just recently started giving Beach ball.
Which apps are you using when this happens and what tasks are you performing? What does it show in Activity Monitor, particularly in Memory and then look at Memory pressure. See czcams.com/video/INpOdKPAM58/video.html
I tried to update mac 2015 macbook pro to macos montery, I create bootable USB to clean install, but after a wile, may macbook error: an error acourred propring the update. faild to personalized the update. please try again. please Help me
Don't mess around with bootable USB installers. Just update the normal way.
Hello! My macbook air has 3 vertical lines on the left side of the screen, I don't know what happened I just suddenly saw the lines there. The last time I opened this the lines weren't there :(((
Restart. If they are still there, then call Apple Support.
I am currenty unable to empty the trash getting error file in use on macbook , could please guide me
Quit the app that you think may be using the file. Or quit all apps if you can't figure it out. You can also try a restart.
Hi Sir I have problems on my mac camera not open. Can you help me Sir. Thanks
Not sure what you are dealing with, but if things aren't working right on your Mac, call Apple Support and work through it with them.
My problem is I bought a brand new MacBook Air 2020 and in a month the keyboard stopped working 3 times..
Fortunately, I have never needed booted a Mac in Safe Mode.
I have an iMac with AMD card Issues. Can i use safe boot to clear my Apple id account, it Will use Intel graphics only?
Not sure, sorry. Why not try it and see?
@@macmost how can i see if amd card is really disabled on secure boot? Any “terminal” commands recommended?
I still see the “AMD Radeon 570” under “Graphics/Monitors” and some glitches… maybe is not possible…
@@Koplinjp Sorry, I don't know and I don't have that model to be able to test.
A bit drastic but do you think a factory reset of the Mac back to new is an option

Is it OK to regularly use Mac in safe mode, I'm facing kernel_task issues but when I switch to safe mode, I'm able to do basic work like writing and editing in perfect way, so I just wanted to check if it's OK to constantly use safe mode if it's fulfilling our requirements? Please guide whenever you can. Thanks.
You'll have issues since you won't be able to use some things and access some features. You should figure out what software you have installed that is causing the problems and fix it.
@@macmost thanks for the reply, I'm figuring it out, there is a solution on CZcams about running some scripts from terminal,. It's just that it's an old Mac, I prefer to use it for writing and editing only, so if some high end features don't work for a while, I'm OK with that. My only concern is that running safe mode on a regular basis shouldn't cause any problems.
@@rahulm7248 I wouldn't do it. You should not be "working" in Safe Mode. It is for figuring out if there is a problem caused by some sort of system extension or modification. Just figure out what you have running that is causing the problem.
@@macmost thanks, I'll follow your advice.
@@macmost I was able to fix kernel task issues after running a few commands that I saw in a CZcams video, so now it's all OK. There is just one thing, my charging is always shown at 0%,(battery not charging, power source, powder adapter). This is very old MacBook pro (2012),its working perfectly fine now except for this issue, I can keep in plugged in whole day, it's not an issue, I just wanted to verify if there is a workaround for this issue. I'm already searching on internet, so just wanted to check with you. Thanks.
I ve tried the safe mode, my screen went black right after I choose the « continue » mode, please help
Reboot and try again. If you still can't get it to work, contact Apple Support.
I have had issues with Mac so I booted up in safe mode signed in got Home Screen buy nothing can be clicked on No icons for internet or Mac at top screen at all😢
Reboot and if it still doesn't work, call Apple Support.
i finally got my Imac having bootup issues to boot insto safe mode using shift key on the 10th try and it limoed into safe mode at that ....... now that i am finally in safe mode my mouse and keyboard are non responsive! my screensaver shows, my mouse arrow shows and my keyboard prompt blinks but neither of them move! Ahhhhh .....thanks!
Sounds like you are having serious issues. What did Apple Support say?
Sir how to enable sound in safe mode
Just regular sound? It should work.
Are you having sound problems too?
I just get a line that moves then gets the the end and blue screen
I need help! I saw a MacOS Assistant on my computer, so I figured, good I'll add the assistant to the Operating system my Mojave 10.14.6 - when I went to restart my computer, all that came on was a new screen with what appeared to be a Mountain Lion installer, that's what the MacOS Assistant turned out to be. Well I nearly had a heart attack. Now how to get back to my Mojave Operating System, without any problems, everything came back to the installer, then I pressed shift and got to my Mac Safe Mode. I'm trying to get rid of the MacOS Assistant that caused this problem. Apple says, I should install a new Hard Drive and designate it to be a Time Machine then fill the Time Machine, once in operation, Reinstall a new Mojave OS and then Migrate the information back to it from Time Machine. That's a long winded way to correct this problem, besides to operate a Time Machine, I would need at least a 4 Terabyte Hard Drive, as according to Time Machine, I would need 2.13 Terabytes and more to work Time Machine. Here's where I need help. Will this work? Or is there another workaround idea that is simpler to rectify this situation? - Please help me! It's an emergency!
Sorry, I don't know what you are experiencing. Don't know what this "MacOS Assistant" was that you added. Where did you see it? If you can't figure it out, look for someone that can give you firsthand help.
I have problem that I can't delete xbox driver from my Mac . Please what to do
Google "uninstall xbox driver from my Mac" and a lot comes up. Try those solutions.
@@macmost I tried that but it doesn't help. I can't find the xbox on library-folder. but the icon still on my system preferences. Please if you have any other solutions.
@@purplesoula7651 Keep looking at all of the different explanations, lots of sites to visit. I can't help since I don't have it so there's nothing I can do.

I can’t get my Mac to go into safe mode
I have a late 2012 imac and it won't go into safe mode, I've tried numerous times. Disk utility found a efi partition error, 69766, and of course disk utility can't fix it. It didn't offer to repair the error. I think this is why my imac can't or won't reboot successfully. Even when I try the recovery system it never finishes and or freezes. I'm ready to take this outside and shoot it. 😧
Or, just take it to the Genius Bar and have them help you.
Note! Your sound/audio WILL NOT WORK in Safe Mode. In Apple's infinite wisdom... they deem sound non- essential. Thanks Apple.
I did all these but my Mac won't do safe mode
Is it a new M1 Mac? See support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262
How can I remove it permanently from safemode?
What is "it?"
@@macmost please how can I prevent my MacBook from always going to safemode?
@@theekachi_ Just reboot as normal and it should be out of Safe Mode. If it is always going into Safe Mode and you aren't holding down the Shift key (pre-M1 Mac, I assume) then there is a problem. Call Apple Support.
Okay thanks

Not sure what you mean by "not appearing." See support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/start-up-your-mac-in-safe-mode-mh21245/mac

I've been waitnig on this stupid progress bar for ten minutes and my finger hurts
I never understand how almost EVERY video I’ve watched over time , only Carry’s on & on about once you’re in safe mode , but nobody ever gives options about when you can’t or don’t get to safe mode. Obviously once we see a screen we somewhat know what to.
I would say that if you can't boot into safe mode, and you are sure you are doing it right to get there, then something is majorly wrong. Time to call Apple Support or visit the Genius Bar.
use it when your system wont boot in normal mode
This doesn’t work!
What do you mean? What doesn't work, exactly, and in what way?
@@macmost this didn’t enable safe mode nothing happened.
It didn’t help me either, shift or holding powerstart button simply doesn’t work, i’ve tried many times already, what is the solution here?
