  • Subnautica ties many of it's features and unlockables to the base-building system. What would happen if we did away with all of that and still tried to complete the game?

@@soup3339 There is a level 1 depth module next to the terminal in the aurora seamoth bay, you have to take a right instead of going forward to the reactor or left to the prawn bay. i then got a cyclops and upgraded the depth module fully by building and using a mod station.

In my first playthrough, I completely abandoned my base when I unlocked the cyclops. I used the materials from my base to prepare my cyclops. "can you beat subnautica without using an air tank" basically, your air tank slot has to remain empty the entire run.
I would suggest using liberal amounts of the air tubes for early game, since they can reach pretty far (for those that don't know, once the tube connects to the last tube but before you place it you can swim away and the tube will expand)

Now if you want to add no air tanks to that build, there is a way to do that pretty easily too, but it's very tedious and requires a ton of bladderfish.

I had an Incredible thought: so we know it is required to get a Cyclops for the sheild generator, so with that in mind we know it is impossible to beat the game without a scanner, but I was thinking you could see how many scans are REQUIRED to beat the game, and maybe over time you could make more vids if you find anything that can lower the required number. I was already thinking in some speedruns they glitch through the floor to get passed force fields in alien bases, so that might possibly skip needed to scan the purple tablet to open force fields. After seeing your no vehicle run you did it easily until the end, so you don't need to scan the seamoth and if I'm remembering you don't need a scanner to get the habitat tool. Now getting the Neptune blue prints might be har d since I'm pretty sure you need a laser cutter, but maybe there is a glitch you could do, but I'm not sure, I could be over thinking this, but it's an interesting idea.

Then in the actaul cave systems theres like 3 directions every turn and its pretty easy to use the tree of life or one of the skeletons or the thermal plant as the refrence point since all the huge areas have a big distinguishable item smack dab in the middle of it then the lava area is litterally two giant rooms with the testing room in it i just recalled like 60 percent of the map but i know where the rest are lmao

I was like "Glass Corridor? T-shaped? Multipurpose room? What the hell, who needs this stuff?"
My storage was all waterproof lockers, for food I just hunted for fish using grav traps, did all my crafting inside the Lifepod - and to be fair, now that I think about it, I really did not feel like I was missing out on anything and thought this is how most people would play the game.

If you know where the zero point of the map is, its near the coral tube with the single end sticking out of the water. If you go off from there South/South-East you will find a red grass area and it has a jellyshroom cave entrance that is directly over the Degrasi Base. The base is at around 260 meters down. So you can park your Seamoth at 200, but be warned about the crabsnake there. It will let you scan the outside stuff fairly easily with a ready made air pocket nearby. But going inside to get the databoxes and datapads is risky. I recommend a rebreather and bladderfish.

I built a Prawn and harvested every large mineral node in the game and spent the next 500hours of game time building a mahoosive set of bases all over the map.
