  • This is the first ride out on my brand new Specialized Turbo Creo SL Comp Carbon.
    I've never had so much fun whilst out riding. It does't just flatten the hills it turns them into descents!!!
    What a bike, a purchase I do not regret.

    I have the same bike. Bought it a month ago. I love it. I am 75 and now I feel like I am 20 years younger on the hills. I have the American version. We have assist up to 28 miles an hour. I only used the Turbo version once. It felt like a motorcycle. Usually I ride in Eco and use Sport for the hills. I ride with a group. I have to behave myself, because this bike has made very quick. I don't want my group getting angry at me. Have a great ride.

      Hi Harvey, firstly congratulations on your new bike purchase you have impeccable taste. It’s an amazing bike and I personally I can’t stop laughing when I’m conquering the hills with ease on the Creo. I think cycling makes you feel younger anyway but this bike just puts the fun right back in it. As for the speed restriction differences from the US and Uk I think the US is too fast & dangerous, but the UK is too slow, which is also as dangerous. We should settle on a safe 20 mph to keep us all happy. Get in front of your cycling club buddy’s and tow them along they’ll love u for it. Thanks for watching and happy riding take care ⚡️🚴🏻‍♂️👍🏼

      @@gurka, Hi, the EU set the max assist for E Bikes at 16 mph which is to slow really. But now the UK has finally left the EU so we are hoping the limit will rise to 20 mph to Match the minimum speed limit of cars etc to make it safer for cyclists. Still much slower than the US but I will take it. ⚡️🚴🏻‍♂️👍🏼

    Great video! I'm looking at the Creo 2 and this is helping push me over the edge. I get a kick out the little giggle that escapes people when they first feel the subtle boost from the motor. You are such an inspiration to all the cyclists out there who follow you - I absolutely love your videos
    when I started cycling last year and bought my first bike in May and I didn't know which route to take - EBike or regular - I played with the benefits of each for some time and in the end decided that due to my age of 53 and the fact I haven't cycled for years I chose an Bike which is absolutely awesome and have enjoyed it so much especially on the hills - but as my fitness increased and seeing how I enjoyed cycling so much I wondered - as from the difficult decision at the start if a regular bike might be better for me - I have always been in a dilemma right from the start - so I then went and bought a regular bike which I am still using and really enjoying
    seeing your video it made me smile as I know how it feels to have that assistance on the hills and really love that too but now having the benefit of both bikes I really don't know which to keep and stay with as I love both aspects of each one
    The regular bike is so agile and light but the assistance on hills form the EBike is great too and although a heavier bike when on the flat - I have still to decide but just wanted to post this comment to give a viewpoint to others in the same dilemma that I faced but still am facing
    There are pros and cons to each I suppose and its a difficult decision to settle on one or the other - for me anyway
    Thanks for great viewing 👍

      Hi Richard, wow thank you for your kind words, which also inspire me to keep sharing. I absolutely understand the choice, challenges and benefits both bikes bring to the party. I chose the E bike this time because my fitness is great and I wanted to enjoy it now, and not just when my older years or deteriorating health and fitness dictated the switch up. An E bike now will make my longer rides, even more fun and I can really challenge it’s abilities. I don’t take my health for granted as I’ve seen what has happened to my wife, she broke her back 12 years ago and has been in a wheelchair ever since so I’m all for living life to the full now, tomorrow may never come. Thanks for the video! I've ridden all sorts of bikes since the early 80s, road raced and time trialled. I recently gave up my MTB in favour of a Diverge gravel bike - which I absolutely love! Unfortunately spinal surgery last summer has left me partially paralysed, and whilst I'm gradually getting back to riding outside (learning to walk again has been my priority!), I'm only riding with power in one leg presently - so I'm gradually coming round to the idea of an e-bike (which previously I thought of as a thing for my retirement!). Clearly looking at your vid you're still getting a decent work out

      Hi Mark, kudos to you my friend, I truly understand and appreciate your journey and the effort you are making to keep on cycling. My wife also had a spinal operation 13 years ago and she’s been a wheelchair user ever since. I only switched to an e-bike after witnessing the benefits and fun my mates were having on the mtb trails with the extra runs etc. However, I prefer road cycling that little bit more. The workout is no different apart from having the opportunity to flatten the hills and combat headwinds with ease should you wish to. It is so much more enjoyable, especially on the return journey after a long trip switching it up to turbo and flying home. I can’t stop smiling. I just cannot recommend the Creo enough for road and gravel riding. Thanks for watching and wish you a speedy recovery. Happy riding, take care ⚡️🚴🏻‍♂️👍🏼

    Hiyas - Nice video 🥰 you really had a lot of fun and your countryside and beach is just so beautiful. I also just bought the same bike but a 2023 model - I pick it up next week but won;t be able to ride it until Late March or early April. Winters here in Ontario Canada are brutal and we get too much snow and ice for road cycling. We do some fat biking on the trails with studded tires instead and some indoor trainer rides - not the best but it keeps us fit.. I had ordered the same one as you last February but it never came in to my bike shop so now they just got the 2023 and I'm taking it! it's a nice deep burgundy colour. I decided to get an e-bike as I ride with mostly men who are very fast and I can keep up with them for about 50 km but then I die. I'm 59 years old and I'm very fit but It's just too hard to keep my heart rate up so high and have such hard efforts all the time. Plus my recovery time ends up being at least 2 to 3 days as we do 100km rides 3 times a week. I figure that with this bike I will be able to go the distance plus more and stay fresh so that I can ride every day if I want. Total game changer for me! I'll be retiring this time next year so I want to be ready to ride all the time! I'm also thinking of getting some gravel wheels and tires for this bike so I can do a quick swap out when needed. My husband loves gravel rides and when I go out on those with him I ride my mountain bike which turns out to be a real slog! Ugh. I'm so excited!!!! I'm sure I will have to deal with a lot of negative comments about the e-bike but that's okay. I really had to put my ego aside and do what is best for me to enjoy riding as much as I want to. I'll be like you giggling with a big smile on my face as I tear up those hills 🤣

      Hi Cycling On Plants, you must be very excited for your new bike because you have chosen a Beauty which you will not regret. It will help you in so many ways, but best of all it will make all your rides fun and you will be grinning all the way. And don’t worry about any negative comments etc your not in any competitions and you in a different category on Strava so your not taking any QOM, just like the cyclist who train indoors on Zwift. This is your new ride and as long as you are out riding and enjoying it who cares. I remember negative comments when MTB riders switched to E Mtb Bikes now all my mates have one, except me, I wanted a E road bike. You live in a beautiful part of the world and the weather conditions are more extreme than the UK so I hope you’re not waiting to long to ride the creo. Swapping the wheels out for gravel riding is a great idea and is going to bring even more fun for you. When your out on a group ride you will not be able to hide your smile but try not to laugh out loud like I do, they might get upset. 😂😂😂 Thanks for watching and happy riding, take care. ⚡️🚴🏻‍♂️👍🏼

      Hi Tom, the creo has a relaxed geometry great for a sportive and long days in the saddle. I personally have had zero problems with discomfort with no sore neck etc. And surprisingly I haven’t even noticed the saddle so that to fits me great. I regularly do 40 / 50 mile rides in comfort, the stem has a shock absorber built in which removes all the normal road buzz so no more cramping in the hands and arms. I have not had the pleasure of riding any other e road bike so I can’t compare motors, but the Specialized SL 1.1, custom lightweight motor is brilliant. I bought the range extender, but it's a mixed blessing. You really notice the extra weight of it, which makes it slightly harder to maintain speed over 16mph, and so I've found the extra range is not as great as I expected. Possibly better to ride longer with motor on Eco (or off completely) but without the extender? Anyways, it's lovely to see others like yourself enjoying the bike - it really does bring smiles, even to this old malcontent!

I was reading some posts where other riders were complaining about the gearing ranges of the 11-42, curious if you have any comments about that? I also test rode a used 2021 Trek Domane LT+7 with all the bells and whistles, di2, carbon wheels, etc and regular big ring and small ring, what a pleasant ride. However I feel the 28 mph assist is a better option than the 20 mph, and a new bike is preferable to used. Thanks for your review!

    Just looking back through some of your previous videos and watched this one again. Can I ask about your reasons behind opting for an e-bike, just out of curiosity more than anything 😉 I had a heart attack back in October and was prescribed various medications, some of which slow my heart rate down and lower my blood pressure, and I had concerns that I would struggle on a ‘regular’ bike. Six months on and it’s not as bad as I was expecting although I am finding it harder than before the heart attack. I have therefore been toying with idea of purchasing an e-bike, mainly to assist on the hills, but the extra weight of the bike without assist is a bit of a worry for me, although you do mention in the video that you ride without any assist so maybe it’s not that much of an issue.

    • @electricbikerider
      @electricbikerider  Před rokem +1

      Hi Paul, sorry to hear about your health issues and I do understand your interest. A mate of mine has similar heart issues to you and he switched to using a E-Mtb and the benefits he encountered was game changing for him, he could ride further and enjoy the trails much longer as climbing was no longer a problem for him, he blacked out a number of times when out riding as his heart was beating too fast, it was very frightening. I switched to a E-road bike because I could see the benefits and extra fun my mates were having on their E-Mtbs. I have a knee injury and living in Devon you do a lot of climbing on average 1000ft per 10 miles. But weirdly enough I actually like hill climbing and the challenges of them. The Creo for me has be brilliant, better than I could have ever imagined. When Riding in eco mode you put in the same effort as a regular bike. The Creo has a power meter and cadence sensor all built into the crank so you can watch carefully the watts you are pushing and when you want assistance let’s say a very steep hill or the long journey home then sport or turbo are there to help. It’s not in anyway a free ride that some people may think, i typically ride over the 16 mph restriction just like I did on my old defy because it really is just like riding a regular bike. I love this bike and have no regrets about buying it, and I’m finding I can do so much more as you will see in up coming vlogs. I hope I’ve helped answer your question, you take care of yourself and thanks again for watching. ⚡️🚴🏻‍♂️👍🏼

    • @electricbikerider
      @electricbikerider  Před rokem +1

      Hi Alan, I only felt the extra weight of the bike, but didn’t notice any drag when I rode over the 16 mph, as I will normally ride myself between 18/20 mph on flat roads. But it was very nice to feel it kick in for the climbs. Thanks for watching take care. ⚡️🚴🏻‍♂️👍🏼

    I just bought my creo. Price is right but I’m 5’10” and ideally needs Large but I bought XL.
    I need to shorten the stem and lower the post which I need to trim or cut a bit off the post as it’s bottomed off already.

      Hi Julio, can’t you exchange your Creo for the right size frame buddy. If that’s not an option, I guess before you do anything drastic could you not sell it yourself and buy a replacement. If no to the above I reckon you have got no choice but to make it work for you with the changes you already have in mind. But don’t worry when you get it sorted you will still have fun on the bike. Myself I was smack bang in between frame sizes so I opted for the smaller size. I wish you luck, many thanks for watching and happy riding. ⚡️🚴🏻‍♂️👍🏼

      @electricbikerider  Před 8 měsíci

      I’m using a wahoo roam out front computer for all my information. The boffins at Specialized and Wahoo got together and as a result it works perfectly with the Creo and even displays all the info from the bike like motor mode, battery power and levels etc as well as your speed cadence and power. I hope that helps. Many thanks for watching. ⚡️🚴🏻‍♂️👍🏼

      Hi Moe, yes you can definitely hear the motor it’s nothing major, but it does sound louder on camera than when you actually riding the bike. It really doesn’t bother me as it’s such a fun bike to ride. Thanks for watching and happy riding. ⚡️🚴🏻‍♂️👍🏼

    • @electricbikerider
      @electricbikerider  Před rokem +1

      Hi Lucy, No you don’t need any tools to remove the wheels, both front and back have quick release, which makes removing the wheels easier for punctures. But I do recommend going tubeless as any puncture will simply just seal itself when your riding. Thanks for watching and happy riding. ⚡️🚴🏻‍♂️👍🏼

      Hi Trevor, you can ride this bike all day with the motor off no problem, I sometimes accidentally switch the motor off with the remote button that is fitted on the bars and not even realise. It’s not like you are riding a lightweight carbon frame so because of that you do get a good workout from this 14kg bike. Thanks for watching and happy riding. ⚡️🚴🏻‍♂️👍🏼

      @electricbikerider  Před 8 měsíci

      Hi Justin, I was very fit before I purchased my E-bike and I have maintained the same level of fitness. I’m still pushing the same power/watts and Cadence etc because I ride the Creo like a regular bike and average 19mph + on the flats and only really benefit from the many hills I have to climb around where I live. So really it’s swings and roundabouts as it’s a much heavy bike to what I’m used to 14kg but it’s so much fun being pushed up a hill by the motor. I hope that helps. Many thanks for watching and happy riding ⚡️🚴🏻‍♂️👍🏼

    Great video and enjoy your ride!!! When you are ready here is another great option. Each ebike road/gravel/mountain can be for a specific purpose and each has it's place.
    I have one like the Creo also. But, being very technical and with lots of experience with all different ebike brands that I love. Here is one way cheaper and just as good component wise as well as all carbon including bars, crank and seatpost like the most expensive Creo. (Canyon Grail On CF7 for iow much much more for your money.)
    Both specialized and trek are making huge margins on their ebikes because they sell them at a premium as super light weight carbon but they have weak motors and not much power .(compared to the 37 lb bike below with 500watt battery and 85nm of power !!!! At that price)
    Why would you want something like the Grail ? It can do everything the neutered $ ebikes can do and much much more. 1- turn off the motor and the weight gives you extra hard training. 2- turn it on and go anywhere you want in the lowest setting for many more miles than a bike with a 320 watt even with only 35 or so NM of torque in the Trek and Specialized $$$ models. With it's amount of power, it rides just like super light weight bike and can ride lighter than any of the neutered ebikes can. No, it does not hide the fact that it is an ebike as is not scared for anyone to see that. ;) But it does not look that much heftier than the others which you can still tell are ebikes.
    Trek and Specialized are doing predatory subconscious marketing on folks that don't want anyone to know they are riding a high demand ebike and it is working like $$$ gang busters.
    Why do you think they hide the newton meters of torque (most defining factor of assist level in tech. specs you can get) on Specialized's websites now ??? They don't want to be honest about all the true strength of the motor setting specs, it is a shell game.
    Still you have a great ride for sure and have fun !!!

    Very nice video. Loving the sheer joy of riding with the Turbo assist. I've had one of these for a couple of year now and love it. Mine is about twice the weight of my Specialized Tarmac, so the difference is significant. Wonderful nevertheless. You've got some lovely countryside where you live too.

      Hi Dave, I’m having so much fun riding this bike, to be honest more than I thought. It’s definitely not a free ride but I still keep laughing randomly when the assist kicks in and pushes you gently up the hills, it’s very much appreciated 😂😂. Yes it’s a lot heavier than my previous road bike and it’s another thing to charge but it’s worth it. Before purchasing the creo I did research the bike and watched as many vlogs and reviews as was available, and yours was definitely one of my favourites, so cheers for that buddy 👍🏼 Thanks for watching and happy riding, take care. ⚡️🚴🏻‍♂️👍🏼

    Cool bike. Thanks for taking us along on your ride. Still can't get used to cyclists who want to have motors on their bicycles to help climb hills or simply go faster. Most of the "manly" challenge is lost if you can't climb hills and go fast on your own. It’s a sad day. Still, it’s great technology is available to make humans weaker and weaker. And with all the bad food they want us to eat losing fitness on these road bikes on “electronic steroids” will likely compromise our health-all part of the conspiracy to emasculate men.

    • @electricbikerider
      @electricbikerider  Před 4 měsíci

      Hi Dolittle, I once had the same mindset as you about E-bikes. But the truth is, my fitness levels are the same. When riding I’m pushing the same watts spinning the same cadence and burning the same calories etc, there’s literally nothing in it. Yes you get assistance climbing the hill’s but I’ve been climbing the same hills for over 40 years in fact on average it’s 1000ft per 10 miles travelled. My average speed is about 19mph which is above the 16mph the Creo is restricted at, so I’m working much harder on the flat surfaces than someone riding a regular bike. And I can honestly say I’ve never heard anyone criticise the light weight carbon frame bikes and how easy those cyclists have it on the flats, compared to a heavier E-bike rider. At the end of the day all I’m trying to do is encourage people to just ride a bike, any bike. Cycling is great for your health, mind body and soul, you don’t get fit just sitting on the sofa doing nothing. Thanks for watching and take care. ⚡️🚴🏻
