Agreed, from the beginning of the conflict I was just outraged. How would any competent leader let the situation get so bad? Even if Russia "loses" the war, there's just no way Ukraine will get its territories back. How much more are they willing to lose before coming to their senses?

@@eremstemero8823 By bolshevik ideology, there was no Russia or Russian patriotism. In fact Russian(ism) was the most harrased people, logically as a Russian patriotism would pose a bigger threat because of size and having a historical right (Ukraine wasnt really a thing, so the national romanticism and culture did pose a threat) - in fact Soviets endorsed Ukranian "awekaning" in campaigns etc. Blaming the partaking people, the ideology, but not an ethnic group or "nation" because there were none.
Communism is globalist in their perspective "workers of the world unite" etc, need to stamp down national movments, any tought against the system. Moscow was the industrial, economic, cultural etc capital of the country with largest population. If Kiev would have been that city, it would have been placed there. Nontheless, Ukranian troops comming in ruthlessly, breaking all human rights, shooting kids and with any method putting down the revolution. Despite the Hungarophobia in Ukranian peoples (unlike among Russians or any other group, because of Bandera earlier and being the most chauvinistic group within the system), it was however not by their own volition but because of strategic reasons (Ukraine was closer among other things). However, neither Russia or the Ukraine are to blame for it. Not only because they only existed as states on paper, but the communist ideology and imperialism is. I just wanted to level out the playing field, because blaming Russia and Russians has taken root, when its entirely false.

The Kingdom of Hungary entered the Second World War and took part in it on the side of Nazi Germany until the very end of the war, eventually falling into the Soviet zone of occupation. The economic situation in the country was further complicated by the fact that Hungary, as an ally of Germany in World War II, was obliged to pay reparations to the USSR, Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia for several years, sometimes reaching a quarter of the national product. The development of events in Hungary coincided with the Suez crisis - on October 29, Israel, and then NATO members Great Britain and France, attacked Egypt supported by the USSR in order to capture the Suez Canal, next to which they landed their troops.According to the German Minister of Defense F. J. Strauss: At first, the Americans give hope to the Hungarians, but when things get serious, they leave the Hungarian people to their fate. There could be no talk of military intervention by NATO. The demonstrators were ready to find a compromise with the new communist prime minister, Imre Nagy.
      ..
This Inre Nagy was supported by Moscow, too. He could speak Russian as he spent long time in the USSR before 1944.
      ..
So, It was not the Hungarian rebels who took over power in Hungary, but the Soviet troops, the Red Army, who carried out a coup on 4 November 1956.
Because Khrushchev did not like the new (legitimate) Hungarian government's policy of neutrality.
      ..
The legitimate Hungarian government accepted the democratic rules of the game - and the Soviet Union didn't like it.
      ..
The situation was similar in Czechoslovakia in 1968. There were not even any serious protests there. Only the Soviet leadership did not like the prospect of democratic development. Therefore, the Soviet leaders and the Soviet troops organized a military takeover (coup d'état) there.

Hungary became a puppet state of the Soviet Union, which led to an uprising in 1956 against them. Russia has invaded Ukraine, a neighbour of Hungary, and instead of supporting the defence, Orban wants to block arms to Ukraine, which will make them lose. Despite the sanctions placed on Hungary Orban is going to great lengths to sabotage the war effort in Russia's favour. He knows that a ceasefire without returning occupied territory back to Ukraine will only lead to more invasions of Ukraine by Russsia. So, his policies will only lead to more Hungarian Ukranian deaths in Ukraine rather than save their lives, which he is claiming to do.

Parliamentary elections were held in Hungary on 3 April 2022 to elect the National Assembly, coinciding with a referendum.
Hungary's incumbent prime minister Viktor Orbán won re-election to a fourth term. Addressing his supporters after the partial results showed his Fidesz party leading by a wide margin, Orbán said: "We won a victory so big that you can see it from the moon, and you can certainly see it from Brussels". Opposition leader Péter Márki-Zay admitted defeat shortly after Orbán's speech. Reuters described it as a "crushing victory".

The US and NATO's strategy is to aid Ukraine as much and as long as possible in the hope that Putin either gives up due to the high cost of war or is deposed by a disgruntled populace. Orban correctly realizes that neither of those 2 scenarios is likely.

You do get that Russia is getting more and more desperate by the day and is absolutely losing this war, since their supplys are getting more and more deprived while Ukraine is getting more and more machinery to defend themselves?
As much as you dont find it likely that Putin would willingly surrender, how likely do you think are negotiations for peace and that Putin will just back off? They are absolutely non-existent. So the outcome of your and Orbans mindset is that Ukraine is completely conquered and all Ukrainian soldiers are dead.

That would mean WW3, Hungary is a NATO country in opposition with Ukraine.
Someone asked to put on of my answer below in this, so here it is:
We don't confront them like that because our energy dependency, the (oppressed) Hungarian minority in Ukraine which can be target for retaliation, we don' let go weapons in the Hungarian-Ukrainian border from any source because they would go trough that territory and make it a target (but we let through weapons to other NATO countries even if they end up in Ukraine), also although I don't know how much Orbán is basing his decision on that, but as I said most of the Hungarians have no blind faith in the West and NATO, so the prevalent opinion is to leave us out of your power games. Especially tat we have no obligations mixing in this conflict as Ukraine is not a NATO country. It would be different if a member state would have been attacked, then all other would have bound to treat it as an attack on themselves. I mean NATO would collapse if it's doesn't keep article 5 from whatever reason, because all other member state would loose it's trust in the alliance.
