Southern 4501 & 630: Autumn in the Tennessee Valley

- On November 9, 2019 Southern Railway 4501 made her final solo run to Summerville for the 2019 season. Meanwhile, Southern Railway 630 was making its last rounds on the Missionary Ridge Local for the season.
I made my very first chase down the C&C almost exactly 10 years ago in November 2009, following Tennessee Valley Railroad 610 on its way to Chickamauga. The original video files were lost in 2011 when my hard drive died (always make backups of important files!) but I was able to pull some silent clips out of another video.

It was a truly beautiful weekend. I was out on Sunday for the doublehead finale. I try to catch it once a month.

No, the coach was being delivered to TVRM after being used on an employee appreciation excursion by Lhoist on the former Tennessee Central.
To me, 630’s whistle sounds just like Pere Marquette 1225’s whistle.

I don't have a ticket yet because my recent trips to Pennsylvania & West Virginia drained my savings but I do plan to attend all three charters that Southern Rail Productions is doing in April. I'm most excited for Smoky Mountain 107.

Last I heard, 4501 will pull the local on the 16th and 17th and that will be the final steam days of the year.
