  • In this upload we see "MitchellM15" behind the wheel of his now permanent truck SL031, picking up the small and large garbage bins throughout Randwick City Council five days a week. I managed to make the hour drive from Ryde to Randwick on a particular Wednesday late last year where I caught up with Mitch just starting his second and last load of the day just after 10am in the beach side suburb of Coggee, it was great to tag along with Mitch on his run and I hope you guys enjoy the vid as much as I did filming it. As you will see in the vid there are a number of streets that are parked out and areas that are not suitable for large waste collection vehicles like this one but the young gun operator manages to get the job done, check out 4:40 and 5:47 and you will know what I mean. The first clip of the video shows Mitch giving the thumbs up and turning into his first street and picking up the first bin for the second load after giving the arm a few test lift cycles.
    The Randwick Garbos do two full loads of garbage starting at 6am and finishing around the 12-1pm mark on a good day. SL31 is your typical Iveco Acco/MJ Gen V combination with a 22m body perfect for the garbage collections. There are a total of five full time garbage trucks in Randwick. This waste contract like Ryde was one of the original WSN residential contracts commencing a little later in 2008 and now SUEZ (SITA) Australia is the current contractor for Randwick Council Household Garbage and Recycling collections until 2018 I believe and council handles the green waste, trade and litter collections themselves as an in house operation. Mitch began in the Randwick contract with SITA as a floater driver doing any run but last year managed to score a permanent gig on the sidearms driving SL31 collecting garbage.
    Its a bit of a long upload this one for me 20 minutes in total, but I reckon its worth the watch as I included a number of angles to keep the action interesting. Theres no doubt you will be impressed with Mitch's operating scooping all the bins off the mark and dealing with those shitty little parked out streets like a pro operator not bad for a young bloke who has been driving the sidearms for only a couple of years. Being out in Randwick really opened up my eyes to see how good the Ryde drivers have got it, nearly every street is parked out and even though the runs look small on paper there can be shitloads of bins on one street in certain areas of the council. I must say it was nice to be back out on the runs with some loud and fast operating equipment. Thanks has to go to Mitch for letting me ride/tag along for the morning and telling me all the good video spots. Thanks to you guys for watching and remember to like, fav and sub.

    Nice work! To you and Mitch! Absolutely loved that, enjoyed every second of it! Definitely looks like a challenging run to do with a side loader due to those tight streets. Awesome operating too by Mitch, loved the way he scooped up every bin with out fail and swung them back down effortlessly. Love the truck too! Not too many of those oldies working there way around down here in Melbourne anymore.

      +jatho4 Thanks Jath for the comment it sure was a combined effort between me and Mitch, im glad you enjoyed it ! A number of the clips made it look like a shit of a run to do but in some of the clips he makes it look to easy. Scooping the bins is the only way to pick up mate if you want to call yourself a pro operator :) SL31 is not a bad truck ey still got a couple of years to go before it calls it quits from full time work, same deal in Sydney mate these old trucks are a dying breed got appreciate them while there still around :)

    Firstly, thanks for talking me up a bit in the description ;) I look like a bit of a tool leaving that spill behind at 3:19, but I guess it could've been far worse hehe I'm not going to miss doing that Glenwood Ave, in fact I don't know why I'm still doing it now, should've palmed that off to the little rear loader long ago. I still reckon I brushed past at 7:45 with either a nanometre of clearance or the tyres wiped the side of the car clean :P That bend at 13:50 has proven to be a bitch in the past when it's parked out, just takes one dick to park their vehicle out from the kerb and you're stuffed. Bloody wind was pissing me off during the video, kept cutting out the sound of the truck ey! Thanks for coming out Alex, great to see my truck from the outside for a change - got some more memories on here now for me to watch in future too. You could make a real good "hazards" video out of Randwick on a Wednesday, just videoing all the garbage and recycle trucks getting through a selection of shit streets and holding up lines of traffic, coz most of this video makes the job look cream lol

      +MitchellM15 No worries Mitch I know a good operator when I see one :) That spill at 3:19 I just had to include, but it was building waste in the bin that you spilled so resident shouldn't have put it there in the first place ey. So you're still doing Glenwood Ave not safe for a truck of your size to pick up bins in there, something is bound to happen. I absolutely hate when vehicles park on bends makes it really hard to boom out for the bins, that bend at 13:50 looks easy as when I was there but I know what you mean. The wind was a pain in the arse mate dont realise until you get home and watch the footage....next time I will aim for a non windy day :) Cheers Mitch was a pleasure meeting you and hope to do it all again soon.

    Sweet as work. Mitch is a very neat operator, also what trucks do the council use for greens and is there many green waste bins?

    • @AussieGarbo
      @AussieGarbo Před 8 lety +1

      +VictorianGarbo® They use 2 GenV/Hino and they also usually run a JP5/Hino rear loader. They collect absolutely fuck all compared to garbage and recycle, got barely anything to take out of unit areas, but there can still be a decent amount of bins out in suburbs where it's house-to-house collection.
