Please compare Alonso and Stroll in Q1. It would be interesting to see where the massive difference comes from. It seems like there wasn't an issue with the car on Stroll's end, just a lacking pace. Maybe the difference was used tyres or track conditions, but nearly 8 tenths between teammates is crazy either way.
Just like in Bahrain, Red Bull showed they've improved in slow-speed corners and traction. Also, better downforce despite the wind??? The massive difference in 130R makes me doubt it
"difference in 130r makes me doubt it" Why? "Flat corner" stands for a reason. Why corner is "flat"? Because car was not able to reach higher speed than can carry through it. With headwind and increased drag in 2024, top speed was smaller than with tailwind and reduced drag.
And I want to remind you that this year in Suzuka we race at the beginning of the season, if we had raced at the end of the season like last year, the improvement would probably have been more than a second
Yup this plays a major factor in laptime comparison, as the teams would have gained so much more speed after developments....so abu dhabi would probably be the best track to compare in order to offset the race calendar timeframe factor
I was watching Alonso 2023 and 2024 onboard and it's crazy how much that car improved in the span of 6 months, almost 2 seconds of difference on the laptimes on Q3
One of the main problems RedBull had last year was slow corners. Well, I think they have fixed it and I don't doubt that times will maybe similar to 2019
The 2023 car was even a lot faster on the straights but still the 2024 car, despite the weather, was 7 tenths faster😳; the mechanical grip on that car is on another planet. At Monaco and Hungary I think Red Bull will absolutely demolish the 2023 laptimes.
Yeah Checo really had a special lap there. I think he said literally the first corner he entered slower than his previous laps otherwise he would of been up a tenth
I thought this year pole lap would go to the 27s. Quite disappointing from Max as well and he said he left time on the table, a 28 flat was definitely on the table.
Suzuka was late in the season and now it's early so only 6 months apart, yesterday was raining and compromised the setup and track condition, the wind was much worse in 2024
I understood well that you reversed between the Hairpin Corner exit and 200R up to Spoon. Thank you for including the corner names. Is T16-17 referring to the chicane?
Please please please make a video on Alonso 2023 vs Alonso 2024 in japan quali.. It would be awesome to see the advancement of a car within 6 months... Thank you. You're doing a great job. 👍👍
While there was a tailwind through the esses and Degner 2, there were headwinds in the crucial exits of the hairpin, spoon and Casio. Will the wind play a role in the race? It's predicted to be light and in the normal configuration. It's likely at two stopper, and being very difficult to pass on track being strategic with the timing of the stop can be decisive in both good or bad ways.
Hey bro, can you record comparison of AMR23 last year at Suzuka here, and AMR24 ? Because that almost 2 SECONDS difference is....fucking huge haha, AMR23 - 1.30.4 time in Q2, AMR24 - 1.28.6 in Q3
The speeds in most corners and the top speed on straights are significantly lower than last year, but the lap times are better this year. Is it correct to interpret this as meaning that the average speed before and after the measurement point is faster this year?
In that case Verstappen did better than I expected! I didn't pay attention to the wind direction difference! Good call sir. That man is an overachiever when it comes to driving.
@@VColossalV Not yet, he's almost earned it. Checo's been good in Suzuka since 2011, now it's time to convert. He could have won it in 2012 easily, 12 years later it's his best chance since.
This year's car despite the tail wind, doing well in slow corners in terms of higher apex speed and earlier acceleration....Monaco and Hungary should be great
@@silverberrymoonglade55 Yeah, from 8 tenths back to nearly half a tenth is insane. I watched his laps of 2023 and 2024 side by side, it was like seeing a completely different driver
fun fact: It's literally the same lap, however with a different car, max brakes exactly at the same point on both laps and accelerates exactly at the same point on both laps
I did believe Max’s radio saying he could’ve done better in his lap in 2024 and I’m talking about his final sector. All quali he EXCELLED at getting a lot of lap time there, except for his final run in Q3. Still though. Still Suzuka is turning into one of Max’s best in the calendar.
It was only in the last 3 corners that made the difference.. and this cannot be a good comparison because of many factors that could have made the difference
Last year cars went with a lower downforce setup, expecially Red Bull. T1 was slower because of this reason and T2 and T3 were massively quicker because of this reason and cars being generally faster. Perez last year was 0,5s off Verstappen in T1, this year was only few cents off. This is due to RB 20 having much better rear stability but also Red Bull going with a medium-high downforce setup. Verstappen best quality is being good in high speed with an unstable rear end. If you add downforce his strenght is less visible (similar to Leclerc).
Considering he had some tenths left in 2024 lap, we can safely say RB20 is faster than RB19 by 1s aprox. Adrian Newey simply nailed those regulations. If, by any mistake, RB will let him go, they will stop winning. End of disscussion.
To be honest with you this isn't a massive improvement like we saw with Merc when they brought W11 compared to W10 which was 1s faster so kind of a disappointment to be honest with you to see only 6 tenths improvement in winter and then two massive upgrades in one in Bahrain race 1 and than suzuka
Are you slow? Suzuka was late in the season and now it's early so only 6 months apart, yesterday was raining and compromised the setup and track condition, the wind was much worse in 2024
Last year's car had a better set up for Max even though it was slower (impressive that they gained 6 tenths in 6 months with worse track conditions) You can see in the final sector and also at the exit of spoon, that Max had tons of understeer today, which he hates and Chéco love. When the car will be a little bit more oversteer, like he prefer, he will destroy Chéco again, this is hardly encouraging for Pérez, just shows he's still slower even with a car that has the right set up for him.
@@BayernSupremacy_ So, in your world, making an analysis is making excuses? I'm stating what i'm stating because i think it's fun to share hindsight and having technical discussions with other fans, it's also a way for myself to make a prediction, Verstappen is going to destroy Pérez once again this season (he's already doing it anyway) after he found the right set up, that's it. Verstappen has an early turn in and likes a pointy car, every knowledgeable fans are aware of this, while Chéco prefer understeer as it helps him balancing the rear on the car. I am getting sick of Max not even throwing together perfect laps and getting pole. He's the best driver on the grid right now absolutely, but he also by far has the best machine and it's getting boring
In all fairness even in 2022 and 2023 Leclerc wasn't doing perfect laps either and got a lot of poles. It isn't easy to do a perfect lap with the ground effect cars.
He's throwing together better laps than the rest of the grid and the car isn't that much faster, if it was Perez would be p2 every race instead of a midfield driver
