Your hard work and dedication for tool breakdown is totally appreciated sir ❤
My pleasure
Love this. I think Cesar from Gibson said it best when he referred to Jones as a “sonic architect.” I adore his minimalist playing because it lends itself well to the music they create. Great stuff.
So true!
Was lucky enough to snatch a ticket to Tool live in Copenhagen 2022, absolutely stoked to hear Adam Jones riff away live!
Awesome! I go see them in Stockholm :)
Aaaaaand of course they skip Finland entirely :)
Yeah. I got tickets for Paris as well. 🤘🏻
Same here seeing them in London at the O2! I saw them pre-innoculum at Download 2019 but a festival is different to a dedicated concert innit. Ecstatic to see them!
Same…
I picked up a 79' Silverburst back in October... I love that guitar and see why Adam adores them.
Does it really sustain better like he says because of the oxidizing finish?
Daaayumn! That guitar tone sounds killer.
I love Adams Solos
They are incredibly awesome.
His playing is very atmospheric and recognizable. Great video
The type of soloing that Adam does makes up for a WAY better live sound. Nothing sounds mushed together or rushed and you can clearly hear every note. I’ve been to tons of shows and tool hands down has the best live sound. I’ve taken many friends to shows and they say the big difference is when seeing tool even if you don’t know the song, it’s still very cool and amazing to watch. Whereas you can’t say that when watching some bands. For instance when seeing someone like korn or lamb of god live, if you don’t know the song they’re playing it’s hard to enjoy and pickup on what’s going on.
Adam Jones is so fuckin' good
Going to see Tool live in Dublin in May. I'm gonna vibe my balls off listening to Adam Jones playing live.
I'll be back in the morning to take notes on all of this. Thank you, sir, you are a legend.
The more i watch this man work on tool specially adam jones every detail work he does in song, it just grow my respect for him. ❤️
Hey man.. you are one of the few teachers on CZcams who have a knack for teaching theory in such an engaging and insightful way. Truly a gift. Thank you so much for sharing that with us .
Adam Jones style and melodic structure is amazing. And your playing and teaching is very helpful and amazing as well!
Great lesson🤘🏻😎
Good job bro. Adams solos are fantastic. Best metal solos and so recognizable
My favorite phrase someone described adam jones:
"Adam is a rhythm guitarist playing lead guitar"
Which in my mind makes sense and is awsome
This is really good content right here. Thanks bro, GREAT stuff :)
You’ve just opened up a new world to so many people. Thank you
This is a great video man good stuff
This is the most important video on the internet.
A similar lesson on Justin would be a god send, dude!
great stuff, glad I found you
Another gem of a lesson! Thanks for sharing.. peAce
Incredible video as always. Lucky to have you around to help teach Jones's methods.
I appreciate that!
Awesome lessons 🤘
I've been playing forever and somehow missed what unison bends were lol. Always wondered how that sound came to be 😅 Thanks much! Always on the lookout for new legato patterns too
Legato for days!
Never realized the similarities between the Lateralus solo and the Pneuma solo but coming out of the bridge
Definitely don't think Jones gets enough credit for his playing because he's not a "shreader" bit neither is David Gilmore who has some of the most beautiful bending in rock music. Like you say Greg, the tension in TOOLS music is the beauty and much of it is in Jones fingers.
Gilmore and Jones are two of my very favorites just for that very reason…their timing and patience makes them unique
Not sure what you mean or where you've been for the last 20 years lol but Jones gets plenty of credit for his playing, much more than most shreaders and has always been that way, for him it's not speed that earns him his fame, it's being able to perfect mind gluing compositions in time signatures that don't make sense to most but get you hooked as soon as you hear them, but try coming up with your own in this style, you will soon realize how hard it really is, and that he has always gotten credit for
Jones gets credit.
But then again.... Everything that ever happened is underrated or doesn't get enough credit nowadays.
@@mnnicholas304. Same
Okay, but that guitar tone is majestic, like wow. Sounds like it's echoing through hills of gold marble.
Thanks for the mini lesson on unison bends. Those are neat!
Glad you like it!
Awesome video man, you're like the Tool master
Great job, as usual. Thanks for all you do, your the best!
I appreciate that
My god man that tone is fuckin nasty, when you held that last note in vicarious I had to rewind like 6 times. 🤘🏻
This is awesome 👏🎸🔥💥
Guitar sounds amazing
Thank you man!!! I always love these vids
Glad you dig them!
Love all the theory tie-ins and explainers!
Glad it helps
Very cool and helpfull!
Killer content!
This is helpful af🤘🔥😎🙏 thanks for your channel bruh, you have no idea
No problem!!
I love you for this, man. Thank you.
You're welcome!
Way to go !!
Hell yeah thank you 🙏
you are the best, thanks
So beautiful.
Dang, those abalone inlays are gorgeous.
That’s an awesome guitar man.
Great job, I can relate to your style of teaching. I know you’re trying to fit in as much information as possible in a short period of time.
I appreciate that!
great videos man, I honestly appreciate you so much. Also, that guitar...custom?
Your tone sounds really good in this vid, new gear? Amp, mic, pedals? Seriously it sounds so much more full than it typically does. Awesome vid!
Thanks! Using the Archetype Nolly plug-in from NeuralDSP.
man thats what ive always said, adam doesnt play these huge scales. hes really genius using like 5 notes. he gets like 3 completely different sounds from those notes
Running those 4ths power chords up the octave is essentially the verse from No Quarter.
Hey man great videos. Can you do something that shows what you mean when when you talk about outlining chords? Like some ideas around structures and rhythms would be awesome
As I mentioned in the video, the riffs from H. and Vicarious outline a Dm7 chord. Definitely a fun topic to dig into.
Was not aware of any solos.....but you left something on your chin😂
멋지십니다~!! thanksdocthanksdocthanksdoc
Tool 🤘😎🤘
That tone is absurdly perfect. What are your settings here?
Using Archetype Nolly. I tweaked version of their liquid shred preset.
More videos axe pls! What's the riff at 3:30?
What model of Kiesel guitar is he playing? It’s beautiful. Anyone know?
Very nice, Greg! Hey, are you playing in any bands again around San Diego? Cheers.
Thank you! Not since covid hit. We'll see what happens over the next few months.
@@axeofcreation Yeah, makes sense. Well, I'll keep an eye out for you at Ballast Point then. ;) I think I saw you there once years ago when I first started following your channel. Appreciate all your great lessons! Cheers.
More Meshuggah! Or Mastodon! Cheers:)
Also, you use Nolly to get your TOOL tones?
Hello guys, I wanted to ask if someone can tell me the best way to set my amp for this sound. which effects are used here
Adams tone is quite complex
I'm just a noodler but like Jones stuff and yours, but for a simpleton like myself, i do not have or will not buy anymore pedals than the ones i have. Reverb, Delay, Chorus, and a Rev G3. How can i dial in Jones's tone and yours for that matter as best i can. Suggestions appreciated.
Are you using the Revv as your main distortion? Probably less gain that you think you need. I know Jones puts his delay in front of his amp but I prefer in the effects loop. Might want to add a Flange at some point, used more (in Tool) than Chorus.
What gauge (and brand) of strings do you usually use to play Drop D?
Ernie Ball Ultra Slinky 48-10
Thanks! Going for it!
Sweetwater Affiliate in the description!!!
Does Adam put his wah before, or after, his dirt pedals?
Couldn't tell you but I can tell you where I would put it, and that's first in the signal chain. (2nd if using a Volume pedal.)
His wah is last in the chain
What strings do you use?
For Drop D, I use Ernie Ball Ultra Slinky 48-10
Really😂😂
Who's Kurt Hammett?
I thought it said the forbidden name we do not say on this platform
Who, Epstein?😂
yuck too much reverb
