    Thank you so so much for finally doing this Greg! Been wanting to try playing this song for ages. But I am still not at a level where I can learn it by ear on my own. Besides its more fun following your lessons, since you always cover all the little variations too. Time to try this one out! Looking forward for Part 2! 😄

    Couldn't stop smiling at the tute. Reminded me of the days I binged SO MUCH of ur Tool vids. Feel compelled to compliment: amazing tone (as always), awesome breakdown, and inspiring instruction.

    I’ve been listening to this song a lot lately and couldn’t believe how I underrated it, even though they’re my favorite band. It sounded like it would be hard to play, but after watching this I see it’s really not. I continue to see that although Adam isn’t the most technical guitarist on the planet, the way he and Justin bounce their riffs off each other to create these sounds is spectacular. IMO they are truly outstanding musicians who deserve the recognition they get.

    wow! i always played the main riff around a barred A-minor shaped on the 5th fret (x0755x). Now I know why it sounded similar but not exactly the same as on the record. BTW killer tone!

    Hell yeah man I've been waiting for this one! Had most of it figured out but you helped with some of the hard to hear parts. Only difference I had is at the end of the heavy power chord section I switch to 8th notes for the 9-12-5-2-5-0 bit.

    I think this and a second part are 1 song with 2 versions. Maybe Tool liked both of "em and included them in the album. If you listen them closely you can pick up one version have more guitar and the other more bass action. Anyway the lesson is long waited one. Thank you for finally getting it out!

    • @user-oy6qc5dj9i
      @user-oy6qc5dj9i Před 2 lety

      You can actually play both parts over each other at the same time and they will fit exactly, so you get a “new” song.

    • @vendeta9393
      @vendeta9393 Před 2 lety

      @@user-oy6qc5dj9i Thats a fan theory that you get a ""new song"". Adam said in studio interview that they never intended to make the songs compatible. And I've tried to listen them both in the same time. It sounds really weird after the 3 min mark. I trust the artists more than i trust their fans.

    Great lesson as always! Quick question...What is the reason for up-stroking during the intro? Sorry I'm a guitar noob, I'm just wondering if there's any benefit to it or if it's just a preference.

    It really frustrates me when ppl teach a song that obviously has effects goin. Then they themselves have effects goin while they teach it to you but NEVER tell what the effect is OR how they have it set up. I just dont understand it. They just never mention it. Like its not happenin. Its a delay im guessing but how do you have it set???? Would be very helpful to know.
