  • I succeeded in using half a chicken eggshell and some foil to develop a quail embryo for 9 days.

    Last 2 died because of humidity building inside the plastic. Egg shells are porous and ventilate humidity, the plastic did not let the humidity escape

    In reaction to all the experts that said they died because of the lack of oxygen. The plastic was just on the top of the egg. The lower side in the cilinder was open. This gave the shell exposure to air. I think they would not have developed for 8 days if I closed off the whole egg. In retrospect I think I made a mistake by not turning the eggs so the embryo got stuck to the shell. This caused bleeding when te embryo turned. This also happens with normal eggs when incubating if not turned twice a day. But as may be obvious I’m not an expert either.

      Don't sweat it bro. Worse thing's have been done in the name of science. I've had quail eggs hatch with no turning all. All down to luck at the end of the day.

    Ego vastly restricts the effectiveness of intelligence the evidence of which has more than enough examples of in our society, trust me on this our species will be absolutely fine as long as we learn to get the hell out of our own way by dropping our need to compare ourselves to others.. REAL TALK.

    Very interesting, thanks! Sad it didn`t work out. There are quite a lot of videos on successful (and a few unsuccessful) attempts on chicken eggs - I suspect it does go wrong fairly often.

      @@freestyler1997 they do have a small air sac but the shells are porous and require access to oxygen to continue developing. Humidity, oxygen and airflow, temperature, rotation and viral/bacterial exposure are all variables that have been widely studied in order to increase commercial success

    Lacked oxygen, disinfectant and Embryonic feeding

    • @colleenh8365
      @colleenh8365 Před 4 lety +3

      Nope. Lack of turning caused the blood vessels to stick to the shell, then rupture when the egg was tipped. The egg had plenty of oxygen, as the plastic was only resting on the top of the shell, otherwise the blood would not be red. If disinfectant was the probolem, the embryo would not have even begun to develop.

    Few things to consider:
    Pre-incubation period for 2-3 days
    Sterility procedures
    Pure oxygen Supply maybe from Day 8 on-wards to counter hypoxia. Or cut open a small hole at the bottom.
    Addition of Calcium supplement, in the case of imbalance of electrolytes.
    Here is an interesting article where they did not turn the eggs:
