Bravo, Rachel! Was using it Friday ('67 Ford 4000 Industrial w/ Ford 737 front end loader) . 30 minutes into job it died and refused to start again. It has never done this before. Had plenty of fuel in the tank. Suspected fuel line blockage but, pulled a spark plug before pulling and fuel lines and discovered we were not getting any spark. Decided to replace coil, and all the ignition parts you recommend in your video. Can't remember the last time this was done...probably 20 years ago. Your video was great for reviewing the process of replacing all the ignition parts. When my local NAPA guys could not find the condenser for the repair I canceled that order and ordered everything but coil and spark plugs from you. You have impressed me so much that I subscribed to your channel and created my own CZcams channel just so I could comment on your video. Plan to look into everything you have on Ford 4000 tractor repairs. Wish you had one on how to replace the rear main engine seal. I'm having a tough time finding anyone in southeast New Mexico that works on these awesome little tractors.

Very comprehensive but I watched one of your 4 cyl 9n tuneup videos that threw me off. In that video you mention distributor rotation and stated that all distributors newer than a particular date rotate clockwise. I assumed that meant for the newer 3600 3 cyl as well. I doubted my own documenting of my wiring and assumed I had mis-traced my wires which indicated a counter clockwise rotation. I finally removed the new cap to watch actual rotor rotation and verified it is, in fact, counter clockwise. It would be worth mentioning in this video. Otherwise, you've taught me more about this tractor I inherited than I've been able to find out anywhere else. Thanks for these wonderful videos.

Thanks. My father in law left us a 2000. He didn’t believe and buy a new parts. He believed in finding something you could make work. When you’re a mechanic, I guess you can do that. But I’m a plumber, so I just go by what the book says. The problem is things like the neutral safety switch aren’t even wired up anymore. I ordered that thin manual. But there’s no troubleshooting section.

I also noticed you didn't address the missing vacuum line, it's purpose, and that the newer distributor assemblies don't require the vacuum line from the manifold above the carburetor.

First...I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! Question: In the manual it states the firing order is 1 2 3 and the rotor rotates CCW. The #1 starts as indicated in the distributor cap (You continue to state it could be different on your tractor) All gas 3000's have the same firing order and distributor rotation, you state several times you are putting the number "1" wire on the cap first then putting the cap on because of manifold clearance issue with #1 wire. That is ACTUALLY the #2 wire that is having the clearance issue with the manifold. Watch your video at 17:04 you can see the #1 in the cap just to the left of your right index finger. The number one wire you are referring to is really number 2; Correct? since its a 3 cylinder it may not matter as long as the order is 123 on the distributor in the CCW direction. :)

So I 'm likely not in too bad a shape. I didn't turn it over while I had it out. Hopefully I can figure it out. Mechanics isn't my strong suite. lol

All well and good, but I'm having trouble with my 1963 Ford 4000 6-volt charging system, and no YTrs have covered this in concise understandable terms and provided a functional schematic diagram for the regulator or an explanation of how/why it works or doesn't. In fact, there is very little information out there for this tractor. My generator shows it is charging, but after running the tractor even 5 minutes, it fails to restart because the battery refuses to turn it over. I've worked on this for days, searched for relevant information to no avail. Any advice? (apart from just junking this POS).

Just an FYI regarding some 3000/3550 systems. At czcams.com/video/r7PYHYxKlXI/video.html your test is overlooking one possibility that occurs on my 3550. The rearmost coil terminal shows voltage with the ignition switched on, but it disappears when the starter is engaged because some ignition switches don't provide coil voltage in the start position (like mine). There is a secondary contact in the starter relay that is supposed to provide that while cranking but I've had two relays fail. I start mine now by connecting a push button switch between 12V+ and the rear coil terminal. I have to hold the switch closed while cranking to start the thing. I'm going to install a permanent push button switch instead of replacing the starter relay again.
