- Many Neapolitans claim that the best Pizzeria in the world isn't in Naples, but somewhere in the Italian countryside. Long story short : I found it and this is my experience. Let me know what you think...

The pizza chef Franco Pepe opened his pizzeria Pepe in Grani in 2012 in the centre of Caiazzo in the region of Caserta. The place is now a mecca for both Italian pizza lovers and international foodies.

Salut,
Alex - Jak na to + styl
I'm going to say it Alex. This is the best video you made yet. Not only a fascinating subject, but also truly masterful filmmaking; Top notch editing, music, angles, pace, flow. A+
I completely agree. Even a few seconds into the video you could tell Alex upped his game a bit
Editing is really good. If the channel goes like that it won't be hard to get more than 1 million subscribers soon.
It's like this is a tribute to Anthony bordain, just in Alex's own style.
stapuft Well you read my mind
Alex French Guy Cooking it's such a shame, I got to meet the man when I was in Miami, he did a show at the Opera House and told all us student chefs how we were just wasting our time, and at the same time just blew our minds with his experience. It was an honor, don't get me wrong, he was kind of a dick, but everything he said was 110% correct, as well as from the heart. I am so happy I got to meet him before....
PS I love your show keep up the amazing work and us fans will continue to sphread eet like buttah.
so all the pizza looked great and all but the editing in this video was over the moon. the MOON, I say.
This Old Tony how long for the pastamachine to arrive to the Frence man
that's high praise coming from TOT, a master of the creative edit!
Found this channel from your video tony, now i'm waiting for the pasta machine video.
Spoken by one of the kings of editing, TOT. Love your work Tony and I really loved Alex’s video.
You nailed it Tony, nailed it.....
alex just lowkey flexing his trilingual skills.
Ethan Whitman that’s not special
Europeans under 40 usually speak 2 Or 3 plus Languages, I am from Germany and 18 and speak besides German english and french, just by learning from school
I have to say tho, I'm Italian and here many people just don't care about learning more than one language. You get to study at least 2 at school, (usually English and a third between french/Spanish and German) but very few actually study and remember anything
PSA: if you ever come to Italy ask younger people to help you whenever you need, your chances of actually getting helped are much higher

Sam Harris or...it is
Where the Jones, It probably is pretty good but I doubt it's the best pizza in the world. It's hard to make a terrible pizza when you use such fine ingredients.
yah, I agree thats too subjective, but damn if it doesn't look good from here.
I think you don't know what you're talking about. It's so easy to make a shitty pizza, even a little mistake is enough to ruin everything: excellent ingredients are the standard in 90% of Naples' Pizzerias, but only few do a great pizza like Sorbillo, Starita, Da Michele or Pepe do.
Best. Episode. Ever. And the music is just perfect!
Enzo Ma I second this
Not to mention those “I love anchovies!” flashbacks! Lol
The editing is super: the music, commentary, drums, all deliver a rollercoaster experience.
At the beginning I was "Oh no, another pizza video", by the end I was "That is amazing, when can I go”.
Excellent film making Alex 👍👍👍
It is not perfect without PINEAPPLE pizza.
5:06 that's not "The Pizza Margherita" that is called "Margherita Sbagliata" (wrong margherita), it's called like that because it tastes like a Margherita but it doesn't look like one. It was the first pizza I tried there and it is absolutely amazing.
I think the dizziness might have something to do with all that wine, Alex.

im glad i stumbled upon your video, im italian from napoli and yes we all know the great Franco Pepe, his pizzeria is in fact the michelin star of all pizzerias, but there is better news for people living in the UK, there is a pizzaiolo who worked and trained under the masterful eye of Franco creating pizzas in a small seaside coastal town city called folkestone, the pizzeria is called Roka Pizza and the chef pizzaiolos name is giorgio cristafaro who was with franco pepe for 4 years , the pizzas there are magnificent, it truly is an experience to see and taste such beatiful food created by these masters.
Wow, thanks for the info.
Thank you for the info, I will definitely look into it :).

@@Botclose40 Hi, i'm Italian, and i can say you cant make the same and also nothing that can be compared to be honest. It depends for the ingredients quality, the water, the flour (not one maybe but mixed in percentage), the pomodoro sauce (born in the vesusio terrain), the mozzarella fiordilatte / bufala, the oven they used and of course the experience they got for 3 generations. Trust me you must go there 1 time in your life :), this year i hope i can go with my girlfriend, he's from Naples, the life is one!
You have beautiful streets my man. Very cozy town.
The cinematography! The music you picked, everything about this video: superb!
Alex, why oh why doesn't the technology exist to share smells over the video? Oh!
Keet Randling be glad that this technology does not exist
Just think of all the smelly people in the youtube comments xD
mostly because the smell of something is actually the crepuscular particles entering your nose and being identified/experienced by it, while sound and light are waves and thus can be mimicked a lot more easily by vibrating frequencies. simply put, smell is particles, vision and sound are just vibrations
Keet Randling You can. When you're watching someone taking a shit on the TV, fart into your hand and give yourself a cupcake.
alex should sell scratch and sniff stickers so we can smell along lmao
For a while in the history of cinema, something similar was tried, in that smells would be introduced into the theater occasionally. It would be a double-edged sword I think!
Yes, it is the best pizza in the world. I had it when I passed through or more like got lost and ended up in Calazzo about 7 or 8 years ago. Still can’t get it off my mind and my palate. I had pizzas all around the world and Italy but nothing really beat them. The bread from their bakery are also super awesome.
Bullshit - I've had better. You need to try one in Tokyo if you know where to look LOL
Van Allen if u like pizza hut’s crap, then that’s your level of pizza. I used to love pizza hut when they 1st come to Indonesia back in the 80s but i don’t know if u were old enough to eat pizza then. However during my backpacking days in Europe for 3 months I discovered the authentic Italian pizza both the thin crust and the thick bready crust. When i said that i’ve tasted pizzas around the world, i literally did from the cheapest imitations to the most expensive ones. So there aren’t that many places that impressed me like places in Italy, Japan & Dubai. Pizza’s humble beginning as bakers treats for the poor is still the best thing i’ve ever eaten. Although I’m Indonesian by birth w/ chinese heritage, i enjoyed wheat products more than rice. So i can say that it was and probably still is the best pizza in the world. You are entitled to your opinion as am I to mine.
Ima Purnomo bruh he was joking
Ima Purnomo how much was it?
Adam Zillin I take you've been Pepe In Grani then?
And if you have, care to share with the rest of us where in Tokyo?
i've been there, and yes. it is the best pizza i've ever had. cheers from italy!
I love how passionate this guy gets about this food! He expresses such joy. This is the stuff life is made of.
Ok that is on my bucket list now!
exactly what i thought!
“My sentiments exactly”, this video has completely ruined me😥😂
Authentic Italian food was the biggest disappointment of my life. Italian Pizza tastes bland, the sauces they make taste bland, everything I ate there tasted bland and they really overuse wine in their foods and not properly either. Thankfully Spain and Greece made my vacation worthwhile.
@@mackjeez even an entrecote tastes bland in comparison to a mcdonald hamburger....there is a big difference between "tasty" and "spicy". Most of the time strong spices are used to cover up bas taste

R.I.P
I was born and raised in Switzerland by Napolitan parents. This video genuinely made me tear, because pizza and food in general is so culturally rich, so much about love and passion that it brings my origins and memories back up. The passion of Pepe in Grani is truly touching and what he does is simply art. Seeing you closing your eyes and using so many superlatives about the iconic food of my country was so heartwarming. You are really a passionnate person and this is one of the best video I have ever seen in my whole life. I could actually smell and taste the food. I'm drying my tears now and keep doing my day with a huge smile in the heart. Thank you Alex.
can't wait for the new pasta machine :D
I have been waiting too since Old Tony posted his video :(
good point, Tony's vid seems like ages ago
And Tony promised a more build centered video. Probably have to wait until it is released. Of course I want to see that thing in action as well.
I have never seen anyone react to and look at food in such a passionate way. Truly inspiring and fascinating. I know now where i am going next time i am in italy. Thank you, i loved your video
I usually enjoy food after i finish it. I just love watching how you appreciate food . I love it so much . Thank youfor sharing Alex!
If there would be a prize for Best CZcams Video Creator, you would definitly be in the Top 10! Thank you for exposing your brilliant mind to us. I enjoy every second of it. Bon chance!
He eats the pizza, asks us if we think its the best one
The perfect example of style over substance. He goes to the "best" pizzeria in the world and does not tell how the pizzas taste or describe what makes them so special other than the Margerita is "light". I just don't get this video at all.
7:10, "come on, pick it up, eat", he is like a father to Alex, he even feed him too that's so funny
thats just how italians are :) proud of what they do, and they show it
This is superbly produced, a real joy to watch. Thank you.

After seeing that, I HAD to go to Il Vesuvio, the pizzeria near my house, where the guy is ranked #434 in France, #5859 in Europe, #19 673 in the world. And it was extremely satisfying.
Omg! I really loved your video. I see you for the first time and I already love your accent! Maybe because both French and English are my second languages so when I listen you speaking I feel my mind blowing away, like if I am listening both languages at the same time. that Margherita pizza could’ve been a Loss meme.
what a missed opportunity
Ozillion more like what a *_lost opportunity_*
It would work very well though
The waiter called it "Margherita Sbagliata" which means "Wrong Margherita": The reason why it's called this way is because the mozzarella is used in the same quantity as the tomato sauce in the original margherita and viceversa for the tomato sauce. Greetings from Italy!
I'm Celiac so I can't eat wheat...and its never felt like such a tragedy until watching this video. 😭

Sta la pizza senza glutine, basta che chiedi
Make a "pizza base" from cauliflower..., yes cauliflower. (there are heaps of recipes on the net and I have tried a few..., and NO the pizza doesn't taste like cauliflower).
Put on your sauce, your choice of toppings and cheese, (which can ALL be bought at your local supermarket) bake it in your oven on at least 230C (450F) for aprox 10 min or until the cheese starts to go golden coloured. (I start it off on a piece of baking paper for about 5min then slide it off directly onto the rack to finish it off). Yummmm.
Until then, we have that one frozen plate resembling dough with some cheap tomato sauce and tasteless cheese. And that is if you can even find it.
theres plenty of gluten free options nowadays, it just wouldnt taste the same :/
could you stop whining? cheers.
The quality on this video was something else. Keep it up!

Hi Alex, I’m italian so I’ve tested a lot of pizzas. The one made in Pepe in grani is one of the best for me.
