An interesting thing those of you past the age of forty have likely noticed is that life becomes more challenging as each decade passes. It gets to be more fun. Oh, it’s a lot of fun. You’re scrambling every minute, trying to figure out what’s next. And it’s not because of forgetting; it’s just because there are a lot more things to do. Those of you who are under fifty and don’t believe it, just wait.
That’s not to say it’s a bad thing. It’s a good thing, because it evokes the spirit of creativity we have when at our best. This is the gift God has given to you--and to me.
Whenever you run into a situation, you think, OK, this is a brand-new one. Sometimes the body plays tricks on you, and you don’t know what’s going on. You try to figure your way through it, and you wonder, How am I going to make it this time? Sometimes they’re just little things, annoying things, easy to get irritated about.
But along comes the next bigger one. At that point, there’s no irritation, just scrambling wide open, trying to accept what the ECK, or Holy Spirit, is trying to teach us, trying to show us.
Because there’s a lesson in every single experience.
We like our lives to go easy. We want them to go smoothly. And when they do, it’s interesting--our creativity often goes to sleep. But when things get hard, then we become awake. And the harder they get, if we’re at all spiritual, the more creative we become.
What keeps people from being creative is the old bugaboo, attachment. That means having a real fondness for some way of doing things or perceiving a thing.
So we go to sleep. But then when things get really hard, we wake up. And we ask, Now what? What do I do now? What’s the lesson? Where’s the open doorway?
After 45 years, Eckankar is still the most amazing path to God.

Such a powerful lesson. I am able to listen to him and feel calm and content rather than guilty and fearful.

Love the humor at the beginning now that I am on the far side of fifty - so true. Also love the positiveness of approaching problems with an open heart and getting the idea that it will be ok as we face whatever problems we are going through.
Religions couldn’t answer the questions I had nor could they ask the type of questions I needed to hear. They just weren’t able to offer any help at the level I needed help with until Eckankar came along. This is the only religion I have found that doesn’t limit my potential to stand tall in the sight of God and reach for the highest worlds within me. There is always a way to go as far as I want to go. I’ve walked this path before, through my past life, past the mind and past death’s door and religion to knowing what it is to experience what divine love is.

It is easy for people to think when life gets tough, God is not smiling on them, but the words of this spiritual leader is saying here that challenges are important parts of our spiritual growth & progress & in the challenge, we are learning new ways. We are growing. There seems to be truth in "no pain, no gain." On a high spiritual path like Eckankar, one will find gratitude in the transformations. Eckankar is the apex of spiritual freedom & understanding of the Creator far beyond dogmas & rituals. Direct spiritual experience is what matters, as it is proof for yourself. This path does not ask for blind faith, instead provides each soul direct experience with God. Each Soul is guided in their own unique way to grow at their own pace and understand the process.
