i find the best approach for drum loops is to turn warping off, re-pitch the sample to get it in the ballpark tempo then print the loop (cmd +j). you can then turn warping on and tighten things up. it sounds more realistic to my ears. been missing your vids dude, how you getting on with live 12? be interested to see how you're using the new midi features...
