  • A visit to The Dartmouth Steam Railway, would include a rare double headed assault of, Goodrington Bank, as visiting engine 7820 Dinmore Manor was paired up with Dartmouth resident 7827 Lyndham Manor, for the first double headed run of the weekend. The railway was playing it's part in taking passengers to a large beer festival in Kingswear. I have included the usual shot of 7827 climbing the bank, as it was the loudest solo run of the day.
    I hope you enjoy the video and the loud bark of a Great Western !

    Great video, thank you, steam trains taking me on holiday to the West Country and Wales in the late 50's/early 60's, particularly Aberystwyth shed's sparklingly clean Manors, gave me a love of 9(steam) trains I have never lost.

    They do look smart in B.R Black. The Manors can pull of most liveries imo. Thanks for watching.

    Nice footage, just disappointing that this railway didn't overload em like they to Bitten and the Southern 4-6-2 Pacific. They would've sounded better with 15 carriages because visiting locomotives get overloaded. But this is a scenic line.

    Not a western fan but the manors look great in BR black. It suits them in my oppinion.

    GWR locomotives sound the best, I don't know why but they make the characteristic sound that everyone thinks of when they imagine a steam locomotive. A deep chugging sound unlike stuff like the LNER A4s which sound raspy.

      @Rosie6857 Před 8 lety

      The Manors were re-draughted in the early 50's with a smaller blastpipe and taller slightly thinner chimney to improve the steaming which it certainly did. Even the official report mentions the very sharp blast. Almost as loud as a single-chimney Castle, probably the loudest loco on BR.

    This useless Country is rife with the lack of info everywhere and this is another disgusting case of the endemic terrible lack of publicity in the UK, as again there was no info of these Manors double heading whatever anywhere. So I hope there are doubled headed Manors done again a few times on the Torbay and Dartmouth and maybe on other lines, and advertised as they should have been before and the culprits responsible for this bad lack of info should get a very big bollocking.
