If you liked this you HAVE to try ReIndev for beta 1.7.3! It's a similar alternate branch type mod but for if Indev (not infdev) was continued, and has all these unique mechanics and features including better potion brewing, creative, isometric screenshots in infinite worlds, and gears replacing redstone with unique blocks for them!
This is a great video! Without the crashes that made it a pain to play, I'll actually try out alpha now! Also, I use Prism Launcher, but thankfully it uses the same instance format as MultiMC
There is actually an ongoing arg with this premise, I've actually been waiting for a big youtuber to review it since it deserve more attention for how creative it is, they even have their own ost and it's very expirmental and it sounds great, it's like a mixture of what notch and c418 would've made with nordic choirs and c418's style.
Minecraft needs an ambience update so badly, the world in singleplayer and even sometimes in multiplayer feels so empty and kind of uncomortable for time to time. We need the water making sounds on the shores, birds singing in certain biomes, cave ambient sounds of dripping water, wind at the most top parts of your world or in the desolated biomes like tundra deserts or badlands, you should be able to mitigate or even negate completely all this sounds if you are inside a house for example. All perfectly and beautifully integrated
I've always felt like Minecraft is just "a dream", and that the more alive it is, the less accurate it is to what it was meant to be. That said, I still think this would be cool.

They’ll only include ambiance if the source of that sound is added, for example, birds chirping would happen if birds were added. That’s what I love about the Mc devs, they’ll go all out for some sounds unlike other survival games where you hear frogs or birds but there aren’t any.
Man that alpha lighting from the torches when you see your base while being in the dark, that hits home hard. it's one of the full memories you can relate with the ambience
You can have that experience in current Minecraft, specifically in bedrock edition with a texture pack, after using it just turn off smooth light and put your brightness to 0, man it definitely feels great to play the old alpha with the current features of the game. Even the color of the biomes' grass and trees' leaves is the same strong green
The texture pack go as far as using the old sounds as well, it was made for a few versions back but it works completely fine with the current version, new features don't get corrupted, it just show the default texture which doesn't ruin the immersion at all!
Excellent video, the 2D Perlin Noise world type is just the world generation that Classic/Indev used, Minecraft has used 3D Perlin noise since March 27th, 2010. It's what allows for overhangs and that's why you don't see any with the 2D world type.
Best Minecraft Alpha mod. Feels like what Minecraft could have been in an alternate timeline. For Minecraft Beta, the Better Than Adventure mod has a similar "alternate reality Minecraft" feel.
I love that stamina system, I feel like movement in modern Minecraft is a little dull and now I want to see some dashes or slides(most likely granted by an enchantment) attached to this mechanic
I'm sure you've heard of it, but there's a mod called Better than Adventure which is essentially the same idea but applied to Beta 1.7.2. It's not as subtle as this one but it's still pretty cool, there's cherry blossom trees and those are gonna be official soon!!
Actually, if you go all the way back to Indev and Infdev, the world generation uses 2D Perlin Noise instead of 3D (which is what makes overhangs exist). Just that the Indev world size is limited.

Dang now I'm thinking back to the whole a1.0.16 thing It's an ARG/web-series about a fictional alternative development branch of Minecraft but there is a link to an actual playable copy of it! It's tricky to boot up though as you need an external code too, there's a code generator for it somewhere though
by the way, i'm pretty sure that kingbdogz actually "stole" the unused floating islands code to make the first release of the aether mod, so that's why they look so similar.
One of my favorite things about this mod is how it makes gold tools useful by giving them silk touch functionality. This allows access to a useful modern feature without needing an un-Alpha-like enchantment system, makes gold tools truly useful, and further incentivizes mining gold... all without needing to add any new blocks/items! In general, the mod is really good at making use of existing content to implement modern features while reducing bloat. For example: - Instead of adding shears, swords are the tool to quickly cut down things like leaves, wool, and sponges. - Logs can be smelted into coal; there's no separate charcoal item. - Different food types have different stack sizes and different means of obtaining them. There aren't tons of different crops with minimal differences, nor tons of near-identical meat types that don't stack together. Everything is much more balanced. - Zombies drop flint, thus giving them a useful drop; remember, chickens already exist to drop feathers, and rotten flesh doesn't exist.
OMG, THIS LOOKS AWESOME, i remember seeing a video that was about alpha, but it had immersive sounds which to me was really cool and i was searching and until now, i finally know what it was, but way more cooler now knowing there is more than just that. I'm definitely giving this one a go!
the 2D perlin noise world (i think so at least) is replicating the classic/indev world generation, with sharp mini cliffs. it was used up until early infdev. it was removed alongside the brick pyramids. it using 2D perlin noise means that every point of the noise only gives terrain height, meaning that overhangs cant generate. -liz
the floating world type is most likely inspired by the cancelled basegame world type of the same name. there was originally meant to be an opposite dimension to the nether, heaven, but that eventually fell through and became the end instead.
Nothing beats the og bow shot sound or the explosion sound. They have such a crisp and raw oomph to them that the new sounds never had. I'm still salty about the sound changes lmao. At least they upgraded texture packs to resource packs

Perlin noise is a randomly generated texture black and white that looks like those old TV statics. In games its used for creating random terrain. For example, in modern minecraft, flowers are determined via perlin noise, and it becomes readily apparent if the game is modified to apply a flower on every block. As an artist, im familiar with perlin noise because it is a great tool to add texture to digital illustrations.
It's nice to see someone talk about NSSS, my most-played mod and will continue to do so. Although, you may have forgottenthe brick pyramid and the obsidian tools, can't wait for a part two when 1.1.12 comes out! Thank you!
i have seen this mod 4 months i guess ago, and can tell, the farlands there are very nice, because, thes load smothly and not laggy, and you can teleport to there without any bit lag, it is a very nice mod

Tying the ability to sprint to how much health you have left is actually a really cool idea. It makes sense, the more injured you are the less you can run, and even in the modern game it could probably help with some people's criticisms of the hunger system.

My first thought when seeing the 2D perlin noise setting was that irlt reminds me of the terrain style before the infdev period. Its like a combination of infinite worlds, and the really old finite terrain generation.

i'm sure everyone has commented, but just in case, Netcode is code that specifically involves Networking, or more simply, Multiplayer. broken netcode can break singleplayer too, as technically your computer is running a server completely offline on your pc, but it has to be meeeega broken, as the server is almost exactly in sync with your client.

The 2d wave generation reminds me of Minecraft Classic, back when it was only creative mode and no infinite generation, it was my first dive into minecraft and seeing that generation and creative menu brings back so many memories of building houses with my dad. Mods on minecraft are so much fun and it's so cool seeing mods being made for older versions to expand and improve the experience. Definitely a thumbs up! (Another mod I would love to see is one that brings the old Minecraft PE experience back, building a house out of nether quartz in an alpha world was a crazy mixture I miss PE having, Bringing that to pc with infinite alpha generation would be the best!)
Legacy mods are finally getting the attention they deserve! Been playing NSSS for about a year, and i highly recommend you look into other Legacy Mod projects like BTA, Legacy+, and Reindev!
Im just finding out now how weird, cool, and unique classic modded Minecraft (as in, the game and not the mod) can be. Ots almost more interesting in ways than modern Minecraft being modded. I guess its because it generally needs less to be more unlike modern Minecraft where the mod has to be fairly bug to feel like it achieves anything.
unrelated but yesterday i was playing minecraft on ps4 and got a world with a forest mansion with a village generated inside of it, on the legacy edition
Nice video! I've been playing minecraft with the NSSS mod for around two years now, and it really is extremely fun! I'm a part of the NSSS SMP that you mentioned as well, there are a lot of really awesome channels that have made videos on it! This mod is great and the community is really nice. I agree with what Soybean_56 said, you should check out the Legacy+ mods as well! They're pretty cool :D
Turns out this might be the perfect solution to the problem I have with Better than Adventure. It adds too much new stuff and mechanics IMO. I'd like to play a mostly vanilla old minecraft, just with some of the QOL changes added in later versions. This feels to be much closer to that. Sure, I'd rather play a mod based on Beta 1.7.3, but this will still do nicely, I think.
4:15 hate to be that guy but JavaScript is very different than Java, Minecraft is made in Java not JavaScript, JavaScript is what powers the web, Java is a very old programming language that isn't that great but Minecraft still uses it so it's fine.
I'm wanting to use this mod, but on a pre-existing world I made a bit ago, but I'm worried about world corruption. Does anybody have any experience with loading a pre-existing alpha world with this mod active? What kind of effects does it have on terrain or structures? If anyone could let me know I'd greatly appreciate it

Turns out this might be the perfect solution to the problem I have with Better than Adventure.
It adds too much new stuff and mechanics IMO. I'd like to play a mostly vanilla old minecraft, just with some of the QOL changes added in later versions. This feels to be much closer to that. Sure, I'd rather play a mod based on Beta 1.7.3, but this will still do nicely, I think.

4:15 hate to be that guy but JavaScript is very different than Java, Minecraft is made in Java not JavaScript, JavaScript is what powers the web, Java is a very old programming language that isn't that great but Minecraft still uses it so it's fine.

Does anybody have any experience with loading a pre-existing alpha world with this mod active? What kind of effects does it have on terrain or structures?
