    I’ve been road riding since 1973 and have owned too many motorcycles to mention; without a doubt the ZX14, mine a ‘09, has the best motorcycle engine ever. And I’ve owned all the greats, Mach III, Mach IV, Z1, CBX, FZR, R1, CBR, Ducati (to include a 999R), GSXR, BMW boxers, on and on. The motor is superlative, smooth, no vibration for a four, with absurd amounts of power everywhere in the rev range. The chassis and suspension is set up for stability and hard launches so handling is very good for long sweeping roads, not so great for tight stuff but fully capable for 95% of riding at sane speeds (upgraded tires help immensely). I usually move bikes along somewhat quickly but can’t part with this one. One day a friend asked that I put on a show of full goose acceleration for his friends and himself in front of his house. Which I promptly did. He called me later that day in disbelief and said the ZX14 was a Tron Bike. I never was in Hollywood or, obviously, rode the fictional Tron bikes, but if any bike mere mortals can purchase fits that bill it is the ZX14. That said I don’t own an H2 but my brother does, and we both agree the ZX14 has the better motor, far more controllable, smoother, and a considerably broader band riding experience. Perhaps not as horrifying in the lower gears as the H2 (stark terror) but overall more satisfying for daily use. Cheers.

      @@redraiderrider3289 no I have not but ridden a number of them, a fine ride but I couldn’t find a slot for one based on what was in my stable at the time. I do own a FJR1300 that does the upright longer distance duty but if asked to get across the country on an inline four it would be on the ZX14, it’s that friggen motor and aero at speed that’s hard to beat!! Be well and safe.

    2 months ago I was deciding among the ZX10r, the H2, and the ZX14R. I'm pushing 60yo. ZX10r had a very tiring aggressive body position and I couldn't enjoy the bike ride for over 2 hours. The H2 was a good candidate, but the wheelbase wasn't for me nor was the comment of an H2 owner who said he fills up every 85 to 95 miles. What!? Got the ZX14R SE and loving every bit of it. 5'9" and 140 lbs dry. :-)

    I just got my Ninja 400 (first bike) a few months ago. Once I've honed my skills enough, I'll be picking one of these up. What I love about this bike is that it has technology in all of the places a bike should have it (ABS, slipper clutch, adjustable suspension) without any silly digital displays or other superfluous gimmicks. The dual analog gauges and the headlights just look so perfect on this bike. The sight of it makes me very nostalgic for 2012.

    Love my 2019. Kawasaki simply can not give up on the big CC hyper tourer. There is just something about the low center of gravity and the way it makes torque. Sure there are bikes that claim more power and to be "faster". But honestly on the street, nothing comes close. Those fancy 1000s can't compete off the line and anywhere within a reasonable speed limit. Even my buddy with his ECU flashed GSXR 1000-r can't keep up in the pull from 250 to 300.

      @@treenutz360 I have the 2012 and got off work at 11pm every night and rode exactly 80 miles round trip thru heavily wooded deer and hog country and I always wished I had LED. The vast majority of my drive was halfway around a huge lake that’s entirely wildlife refuge. I replaced my 2 low beams with high beam bulbs so I ran 4 high beams. I’ve had many near misses at night with animals with me running 70 mph. A car in front of me hit a bunch of hogs one night. If I’d been in front I’d have hit them instead. I have some custom modded led flashlights modded by the guy who makes the worlds longest throwing reflector flashlights that are amazing. Some he mods will illuminate over a mile away. He takes existing bad ass lights and super tunes them with different techniques.

    I've seen hard bags for the ZX-14, but it's a bit of a stretch to refer to it as any kind of touring machine. Drag bike? Sure. Sport bike for taller/bigger riders? Sure. But the Concours 14 is a proper sport touring bike. I've had both.

    The 13 model has ABS where the 12 doesn’t so there was a change. I wouldn’t trade mine for a H2. It’s faster in the 1/4 and much more comfortable. Although I would trade for a H2R for its top speed if we could legally ride them on the street. I couldn’t see paying the money the H2R cost especially not being street legal.

    The ZX-14R is not Kawasaki's sports tourer nor was it designed to be in any way as this is an incorrect claim indeed. The deemed sports tourer by Kawasaki in there range of bikes is the Kawasaki Concours sold here in Aussie land. The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R and the Hayabusa are both in the hyper bike or hyper sports bike class and both were deemed this at the time of manufacture. Don't let Kawasaki's comfort fool you to understand this differently.

    I bought a brand new 2006 Hayabusa years ago and absolutely loved it. I sold it due to a bad back. However, I was thinking about getting another sport bike and was comparing the 2022 Hayabusa and the 2022 ZX14R. I went to the dealership and played with both bikes for a little while. I also have seen a ton of videos on each. Honestly, for the difference in price I would go with the ZX14R all day long. It isnt even a thought. There is a video where both 2022 bikes are racing a 1000hp Tesla and the pro rider preferred to ride the ZX14R because it does perform slightly better than the Hayabusa.
    I will say the Hayabusa has a MUCH better fit and finish than the ZX14R but the redesign is really questionable. The fairings stick out pretty far and the pipes are horrible! They are both awesome bikes but the ZX14R wins by a longshot!

    @dennismau9103 Před 2 lety

    I had a ZX14 for two years. It is big, heavy, cumbersome and not very agile, having a very long wheelbase. It is really not that responsive until you really get into the throttle because it is geared so high to attain a top speed of 190mph. Where are you going to go 190mph? It doesn't make sense for an around town motorcycle. A mid-size naked bike is more responsive up to 100mph, handles better and is more fun to ride, plus the maintenance is easier because you don't have to remove all the fairings to simply change the oil. Unless you are doing a lot of highway cruising or touring, I would recommend a Kawasaki Z900 or Yamaha MT09 naked bike. They are just as fast from 0 to 60mph, and the Z900 is faster than the ZX14 from 70mph to 100mph in high gear because it is geared lower and has a top speed of 150mph, which will get you in plenty of trouble on any highway. Another problem with the ZX14 is it is deceptively fast. With the Z900 or MT09, you know you are going pretty fast, but not as much with the ZX14. I just cranked mine on once getting on the highway and I didn't even think I was going that fast, and I got tagged by the Highway Patrol going 109mph. Whoops! 6 point ticket and $500 fine. It takes real self control not to exceed the speed limit with it, but on the other hand, that is the ONLY thing that is fun about it. It doesn't handle well, and it is cumbersome around town and at stoplights. Driving it at normal speeds is BORING because it seems like a 500cc motorcycle until you awaken the beast, and when you do that I assure you you are going to lose your license. I sold mine and I ride a Z900 now, which is actually a lot more fun and much better around town and in the mountain canyons. Unless you are an excellent rider, you can get yourself in a lot of trouble quick riding the twisties on a ZX14. I know!

    Had a new 2017 US spec model. Rated at 197 hp. Sold it with less than 300 miles on it. At then 61 years old and still fit, the handlebar(s) position made extended riding a literal pain in my shoulders, wrists and lower back so much so I looked forward to getting off of the bike. Fit and finish were rather poor with the fuel tank and inner fairing areas. The stock header pipes which are poor stainless steel, got surface rust on them even though the ONLY water was when I washed then dried the bike which was stored indoors when not being used. Two tone paint on plastic side covers wasn't entirely clear coated resulting in easily chipped paint. Sure, the acceleration was incredible, but the other listed aspects convinced me to sell it.

      That's lots of crap you're saying, mate. I have a 2017 SE model with a nearly 8K on the clock and no rust at all. I don't think 300 miles is extended riding. I bought the bike and did 2.5K with my daughter at the back doing 600 to 700 km every day without any problems and the bike is way more comfortable than my ZRX1200. What did you expect to be a cruiser when buying hyper sport? I agree the finish could be better but for a mass-produced bike
      for so little money do you expect custom-build results? Every paint will chip if you are going fast and staying very close behind someone. You need to think before you write bollcks.

I bought the bike 2 weeks ago and already did nearly 4 thousand km through some rain as well and there is no surface rust compared to your 300 miles expert assessment, indoor storage and never riding the bike in rain, etc. having rust, stone chips, bad riding position and who knows what else you claimed is wrong with the bike. BTW you can google what SE stands for but I would expect you to know if you are an expert or are you? All the best in your future expert assessments 😉

      @@michaldemian1554 Just as Police officers are trained observers, I too am highly trained to spot irregularities pertaining to vehicles. Panel gaps, paint color match and texture and proper coverage, how well closure latches work, how well components fit together, etc. I notice issues others less trained than me wouldn't even see. The specific stainless steel alloy Kawasaki uses in their bike's exhaust system is so poor even the humidity in the air will cause slight ( but noticable) complete surface rust.The finned side panels on my 2017 ZX14R ( ZZR1400) had no clear coat where to different colors joined, this allowed the paint to chip off easily. I don't recall mentioning a stone chip problem.Plastic inner fairing panels had poor fitment where they sit next to the main fairing Something my Honda sport bike from 2002 has no issue with. For some reason, owners of this bike abroad ( Europe), seem to lable the ZX14R as a "sport tourer", just as they call the Hayabusa and CBR1100XX as well. These are simply large, powerful sport bikes. Kawasaki already makes (at least used to), a large sport touring mototcycle based on the old ZX14 and is called the Concours. Honda makes the ST1300 ( ST for sport touring). At 5'8" the stretch to the lower bars of the ZX14R made riding it unpleasent for any distance over 40 miles or so with the stock handlebars. My Hoinda has Heli-Bars replacing the stock bars and this virtually eliminates shoulder , forearm and wrist aches. I at the time of ownership, found no aftermarket replacement bars that would act like the higher and raised angle comfort the Heli-Bars provid for my curent bike. Your turn.......
