As someone who’s survived multiple kicked in doors, and countless home invasions It gets...hellish. You’re up going crazy from sleep deprivation cuz every time you hear something and try to get yourself to just go back to sleep, it’s impossible as every time you have peeked put those blinds before there WAS someone there, trying to do you harm; someone trying to break in. Grew up in Cali too so this was commonplace..really does leave you PARANOID AF 24/7 and that’s an understatement..Go thru it long enuf & it takes years for you to be able to sleep (even in a safe place) thru someone opening a door, talking or touching you.

When I played I never noticed the guy going up the stairs while I was eating. I was focused on watching ridiculous amounts of lasagna disappearing into this kid's void of a stomach. The bit where the master bedroom door swings open chilled me though, not going to lie. Went right back to my room and under the bed.

I've had a situation like this where I was home alone with my brother and his friend, and some weirdo walked across our lawn and to the side door. He knocked and when we didn't answer he turned the door handle so we went and his in my mum's room.
Thankfully the door was locked and my stepdad got home a little after, but still. It creeped me the hell out.
