The Yamaha Motif ES series is a classic. I wish I never sold my 61 key version. That said, I still keep a DAW-less setup in place for R&B music. Often times, I prefer to get away from the PC, especially in the early phases of songwriting.
It definitely is a classic bro. (This is the one before the ES model.) I really think these workstations were ahead of their time. I think I'm going to start going DAW-less a little more because this was very reminiscent for me. Thanks for checking it out. 🙏🏾✊🏾

Bro this is fantastic!!! Its amazing to see you do this. That sound from them motif boards played a huge role in sonically shaping the sound of 00s rnb! You know i still use my Triton Extreme board to program all my song ideas because of how quick and easy my ideas flow with 1000s of high quality sounds at just the touch of a finger. Then i export it out into logic and replace/expand and layer the with my vst sounds! These always have a special place! I can tell you know every single sound in that motif board inside out! What was your fav bass, and drum patch in the motif?

Yeah, that Triton Extreme is a gem as well...Was always on my wish list lol. I think what you're doing (layering those sounds with VSTs) is very unique and a way to establish a signature sound. I'm a little rusty getting around my Motif right now because I've been using VSTs so much lately, but I'm about to incorporate these boards a lot more.
