Removing the scales may have resulted in cracking. As I have the same hunter's companion , by puma, I had a personal interest in what Kyle decided to do with the knife. A piece of additional information, is that the above blade is made in Pumaster steel, which is non stainless and chrome plated. The second knife would possibly be a hunter's pal and made in a " super stainless cutting steel" 420 or there about. Appreciate the video
I wish I had known about your service. I just tried to restore the blade on a beautiful 1973 Gerber. Although beautiful, in actuality the sides of the blade were wavy as all get out. The steel was super, super hard and also seemed to have micro-fissures. I gave up on hand methods and decided to use my belt sander to make the sides perfectly flat and screwed up and took away too much metal and wound up tossing the knife in disgust.

think i wouldve tried to add metal to the blade by (hard) chroming / electroplating it , hopefully filling the pitting with the chrome , THEN take off most of the added metal without having to actually dig intoo the original metal to take the damage out of the blade
as for the better knife , not sure but i think you could make a photo of thetched text and use that to make a template/cnc file to re etch the text back intoo the blade after the repair
might allso do the chroming bit but a lot thinner as the scratching isnt as severe and then laser etch the chrome out of the original etching before finish polisching it
allways wondered if you could weld up the cutting edge enough to get the blade back intoo its original width , think the added metal wouldve been turned blue from the heat needed to melt everything together
I think l would have removed the scales (with the owners consent), there might still be hollows in the handle of the knife with the broken liners.
This would have allowed a more "factory finish" on the handles.
No complaints with your work on the blades, though l might have added a sharpening choil to the knife with the "worn down" looking blade.

At around 3:30 you said "we've got a little (thung) tube that..." and I am very curios what a thung tube is?I probably miss heard you but I want to know what that part is called and what you said.
Thanks for your question Lucas! I called it a thong tube. It's a tubular pin that passes through a knife handle

IDK why anyone would pay that much to restore a knife that is worth less than the resto work. It's not that difficult to do the work yourself, even with minimal tools.
You should have taken those scales off and repaired the knife. How can you charge someone so much and be so lazy with it. That's not typical of you either. I've been watching you from the start.
Surely that's what he explains at 4-5min.
Economics. The client wasn't willing to pay for that so this was the option that fit the budget.

Also, last thing here. You should have sanded around the etching on that knife. You could have hand sanded right up to the lettering and brought those scratches down and made it look just as good as the other side but you were lazy. You ripped this guy off. You did poor work here and you know it and I'm blown away that you would charge this guy so much money and then post this video showing the half a$s work you did. You should be ashamed of yourself.
