  • Fixing an unusual electrical problem on a 2004 Peugeot 607.
    This is a car i saved from a breakers yard that has both this unusual electrical issue and a blown head gasket. The head gasket did not really worry me but the electrical issue was one i was unsure about.
    However, some searching online revealed that the 607 has a second battery in the boot. I removed the boot carpet and found the battery was missing. Replacing it with a charged battery restored the electrics to their normal way of operating.

    Can I use 90ah battery for the trunk?

  • @jannesopanen8032
    @jannesopanen8032 Před 2 měsíci +1

    I need to lift the trunk manually to get it open, pressing 0 (607) is not working and also that small red button isnt closing the trunk. could this be battery issue or wiring issue? other electronics are working normally.
    thanks for advance

      Hi there,
      I think this is the battery that is responsible for the powered operation of the bootlid on these cars.

    I have a 607 but it doesn't respond to the remote key commands such as locking and unlocking. The only way to lock or unlock is only by using the key hole in the door. Any advice on this issue?

    • @peugeotCitroen2CV
      @peugeotCitroen2CV  Před 5 lety

      First thing to check is that the key has a good battery. Then if you have access to Peugeot planet see that the car is recgonising the signal the key may need to be resynced. I cant remember 100% what the process is on the 607 on the 406 it involves something like putting the key in the ignition to position 2 and holding the lock button on the key. It is mentioned in the owners handbook

      @@peugeotCitroen2CV I tried the method includeed in the handbook, but it didn't work. I guess I'll have to hook it up to peugeot planet then.

      The battery for the starter is located under the bonnet beside the air filter housing.

      Can agree with that, i think the 607 is the only one, and even then the lower spec models have one battery.
      The only other one that I wouldn't be surprised if it did have 2 batteries would be the 807

    Somebody knows which is the biggest dimension what should i put in the trunk? Every service battery is too big, or not enough small for it.

      Is it the physical measurements your after, or the actual specs of the battery? This particular one wasnt an exact fit, i just removed it from my 305 to try it out.

      Hi, i went onto auto trader just to see and i think this one with 235,000 miles shows they can clock up high mileages ok
      www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202112110423272?postcode=bt716sw&sort=relevance&include-delivery-option=on&radius=1501&model=607&onesearchad=New&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=Used&make=Peugeot&advertising-location=at_cars&page=1
      However i would say spend a bit more to get a tidy example. The blue 607 that features predominantly on this channel cost me £200 and for the first few months required plenty of bits of work catching up on deferred maintenance although that can happen any car.
      Generally i found the 607 to be reliable.
      Diesels are the engines to go for, the V6 petrol is nice but thirsty.
      2.0 HDi is underpowered, the early 2.2 140bhp is acceptable the later 170/180 has a nice amount of power. 4 cylinder petrols from experience are gutless and not much more economical than the V6.
      Just be aware the diesels have a FAP which was peugeots proprietary name for a DPF, there is plenty of information on the owners clubs and forums to be able to deal with that side of things. Although generally the diesels are tried and tested units that have seen service in a raft of cars. Manuals have dual mass flywheels so listen for a rattle or slipping clutch. Autos should be ok although it would be worth getting the fluid changed.
      Electrics do not really worry me with the 607, there can be the odd electric window that needs refurbished, a Peugeot planet lead is not expensive sub £100 to be able to read the fault codes, that combined with good owners club support should make keeping one a DIY prospect.

      Hello, i have 2.2 (158hp) petrol 607 , since 2015. He never left me on the side of the road. If the ignition system ok, there will be no problem. Electric fault could be sometimes, but in all, in 7 years I have only seen the check engine light up twice. (because of Ignition coil & oxygen sensor) Overall, this car serve me well, very comfortable touring limousine. I'm not planning to sell for a while yet.

Set the heater to your own personal preferences, me personally i like the car to be very warm inside, some prefer it cooler we are all different. It has no negative effect on the ventilation system as it has been designed to work at the full range of temperatures.
