We designed and tested them around the AXS lever architecture. We have not tested these bars with Shimano levers, but we have several handlebars available that pair great with both Shimano and Campy levers!

Will the bars work with a more traditional groupset that uses mechanical shifting with brake and gear hoses?

We have not tested them with Shimano, but the bars were specifically designed around the latest generation of AXS levers.

"Race" is in the name. Most races don't allow clip ons.

You’ll be hard pressed to ever see this bar in the pro peloton if that’s your measuring stick.
Maybe this guy does races in which they are legal, which I do. You travel to a triathlon where you are racing draft legal and non draft, and can only bring one bike, you need clip ons for the non draft.
