its weird to see them be this out of touch with GTA because those games have been EVERYWHERE as long as I can remember
Based on discussions about this topic, it goes to show how generational this franchise is considering the amount of S tier games from it that impacted the video game scene and following GTA games
GTA 3 revolutionized open world games n put the franchise on everyone’s radar vice city, San Andreas And gta 4 kept evolving the franchise in some way and gta 5 became the amalgamation of everything everyone wanted from the previous games for the most part and became another evolution of open world games n the franchise itself and it looks like gta 6 is gonna do it again placing a big emphasis on social media in the game with a Bonnie n Clyde type storyline this time
Niko Bellic is such a great character tho
Isn’t the most definitive GTA San Andreas? Like in terms of popular reception and PS2 sells?
If you’re going off of popular reception and sales then gta 5 completely destroys San Andreas and it isn’t even close.
Agreed. Granted I agree with the boys that they do turn into just sandbox experiences and that's how most GTA games ended up for me but san Andreas I fully completed and there was nothing else comparable at the time. I have gone back and it is deffo way jankier then my rose tinted nostalgia would have me believe but the experience when it was new... If you know you know
@@Jpow5734cuz 99% of the world didn't buy gta sa , they all pirated it , i don't know anyone of my generation who didnt play GTA SA and i'm 27 years old

The only GTA game that I've beaten was Liberty City Stories for the PSP. I really like that one because it reminded me of The Godfather. However, GTA games seem a bit hard for me to play, though. I have to use cheats in order to enjoy them. I couldn't get into GTA V, but I do plan on beating it in the future just for the story.
All GTAs minus Chinatown Wars and the first 2 are totally valid.
The game that put GTA on the map: GTA3
The Definitively Best One: San Andreas
Damn good one: Vice City
Best Modern Story: GTAIV
Best Gameplay: GTA
Dunno wtf is going on but I go pew pew: Both Story Games on PSP
Tbf, out of the Two PSP games. I only beat Vice City Stories. Couldn't really vibe with Liberty City for whatever reason. (Might be because I tried playing it immediately after VCS and GTA stories take a minute yah know)
SMG2 is my favourite Mario game of all time. It combines 3d movement, power ups and lots of obstaclds before reaching the goal. That is what i enjoy about "plattforms videogames", way more than exploration. I wiill admit, however, that SM Oddisey has the best controls, and cappy is the best gimmick of any Mario game.
Gen Z can appreciate how popular the Wii was, we were the ones who had them as kids.
Mario needs to be in GTA
CJ needs to be in smash
My Playstation ass cannot relate to them. I had a PS2, DS, and PSP during the Xbox 360/Wii craze, and got a PS3 in 2010. Before that my experience with Nintendo as a kid were with Gameboy and GBA.
"Everybody owned a Wii"
I guess Im not part of "Everybody" again xD
But I had a Friend who owned a Wii and played a shitton of games with him.
Without gta or vice city we couldn't see any RP games so goddamn beautiful!
The thumbnail did garnt dirty
in terns of popularity, honestly gta vice city. that game was pirated to hell and back. you can get it downloaded in your pc for 50 rupees here in pakistan. they even found it on osama bin laden's computer
Niko Bellic is the Goat
GTA 3 was probably the most revolutionary though I do want to say that san andreas is definitely the most fun I have had with GTA.
GTA 3 had a mid story, but that's fine. It was the first of the kind Rockstar was making. They were still sorting the 3D polygon game mechanics out. The story was just a bonus to implement missions and maintain an order. I mean, the protagonist Claude literally had no personality or character, lol. He was just there to move around and obey the player. Hell, his name Claude wasn't even known till San Andreas, lol. Up until the release of San Andreas, he was a no-name, no talk, no personality guy. Lol.
By the time they made Vice City, they had it all figured and sorted. So, this time, they actually made a great story. Set in the roaring 80s, with an all retro aesthetic vibe, too. Part of the reason why VC is so iconic.
Then came San Andreas. What needs to be said about SA. Its the most famous and the most iconic one of all. Everyone and their mother knows about San Andreas. The upgrades, the story, the gameplay, the setting, the ending, the feels, all of it was too memorable to forget. Timeless masterpiece. It's the best GTA game I've ever played. No. 1
Then came IV. The next gen HD GTA. And boy calling it unique would be an understatement. It somehow managed to maintain the GTA feel yet be very different. It was rid of all the usual goofy and wacky, exciting, thrilling, heated, and over-the-top elements of the other GTA's, and instead replaced it with really grim and gritty ones. I mean, it's probably the only GTA where you don't see a "WaStEd" screen after dying, or a "BuStEd" after getting arrested. The GTA 4 tone feels very dark, depressing, lonely, mundane, and isolating. Like sickle chains tied to your heart. It's very realistic, and colourless in its approach. Exactly the reason why it's the second best ever GTA I've played after San Andreas. It's just this very grey, somber feeling game, in the characters, the setting, the storyline, the world, and just everything. It's the only GTA game with no good endings :( it has 2 endings, but both come at a price our main man Niko Bellic didn't feel the most comfortable paying.) Niko is probably the best GTA protagonist I've ever played as. He has the wildest backstory, and the most multi-layered and detailed writing in terms of character and personality. Quite the polar opposite of Claude from GTA 3, lol. Best MC imo. And 2nd best GTA.
GTA 5 is, well, GTA 5. Everyone knows what GTA 5 is. It's the most Hollywood action thriller-esque GTA, probably. Its always on fire at all times, Multi-protagonist feature and full of intense thrills, heists, racing, vibrant nightlife, clubs, each MC and their affair and how they clash and intertwine at times, just full of exciting, heated, pumped stuff that everyone loves and adores including me.
Can't wait to see what GTA 6 brings us....
It's funny that they complain about N64 games aging poorly but like Sunshine.
Everybody owned a wii, I didnt know that it existed until 2013. Nobody knows about Nintendo.
The switch is the second highest selling console and the mario movie is the 3rd highest grossing animated film, people care about nintendo lol.
@@Saz103 not where I live
@@tron0150it’s fair to say not everybody owned a wii, but saying no one knows nintendo (purely because you don’t) is so stupid. 4 of the 5 best selling consoles ever made are from nintendo…
@@cwega2463 No, it's my reality, in my country Nintendo consoles weren't popular at all, consoles in general weren't popular. All gaming is on pc, and psp if on the go.
@@tron0150 that’s not my point. saying generally “nobody cares about nintendo” is just purely not true…

It’s not GTA at all, it’s Red Dead 1 and 2 imo
Without GTA there would be no Red Dead
GTA III is more influential than both RDR games combined, and I love those games.
@@DrJones0801 Hydlide is also influential yet everyone says it’s one of the worst games ever
Red Dead is generational, but the legacy of the GTA franchise and its consistent top tier quality in respect to the gaming market is at a whole different level. Two legends can coexist
gta games are overrated
Technically they are the best games ever , cuz objectively they sell more and attract more ppl , so if you believe in commun sense , they are the best ever without a doubt ( cuz outside numbers everything is subjective )
Grand Theft Auto is probably the most overrated game franchises out there. It falters in gameplay, yet they are considered masterpieces. I don't get it. It's revolutionary as far as game design is concerned but the PS2 era of GTA has aged worse than N64 games.
I agree its the star wars of video games.
@@Qbone_ Nah Star Wars is great.
