I prefer regular cold water over ice cold or lukewarm
YESSS
Ice cold water when it's really hot and regular cold water in normal situations
I think that's what Connor means but he's mixing it up with lukewarm water for some reason.
I like fridge-temperature water
100% Cold water for the win. Its normally over 30°c where I live, so room temperature is normally warm water.
"Taste" and "Refreshment" are two different things.
Bro the feeling of a hot day drinking cold water and having that spread to your nerves feels so nice.
I find room temp water is more thirst quenching and cold water is more refreshing.
If I'm thirsty, the former is better, and if I'm hot, the latter is.
To think that this was by far the most heated argument during the episode where they revisited some of their "hottest take" is just something else, saved the best for last
Somehow the talk about antartica went from being flat-out wrong to kind of accurate. Connor's knowledge is significantly better than I expected.
1. Antarctica is an entire continent (of rock) covered in ice. One of the exciting things about the ice melting is it is revealing lots of ancient fossil deposits (including tropical tree ferns).
2. Polar ice accumulates from snowfall (atmospheric water that has evaporated from land and the ocean). It is fresh water. When water evaporates it leaves the salt behind. You will also find that the lighter isotopes of Hydrogen and Oxygen will also be present in that ice. (Water containing the heavier elements precipitates out before reaching the poles due to being slightly heavier).
3. Yes salt water freezes (around -40°C). Sea ice can be salty.
4. The oldest Antarctic ice we have sampled is around 800,000 years old. No, it does not all melt in cycles.
5. There have been points in time where there has been no landmass at the poles (eg pangea). This leads to a runaway greenhouse effect, as there is nowhere for (reflective) ice to accumulate. Ocean at the poles is a great way to heat up the planet. Megafauna tends to appear when the planet is hot, with land clumped around the equator (promotes hot climate and central deserts).
6. Volcanic springs... not a thing. A spring is anywhere where the water table meets the ground.
Also Google blood ice algae. Bright red snow.
Mate naebody cares 😂
@@FourFourTwo123 fr, imagine getting knowledge regarding this topic for free from someone who went out of their way to write a comment just to give people extra info lmao
@@FourFourTwo123I care, dont care i appreciate the comment
@@FourFourTwo123 Let me guess, you have an IQ of 50...
I also agree with Connor. Room temperature water is just actually better on your throat in general where cold water apparently constricts vocal chord muscles.
well shit im screwed then i love cold water 😭😭 it always feels 10x more refreshing even if its a cold day
@@tealing_ I didn't notice this reply since I don't use CZcams like that. But just wanted to reply to say that the thing with your vocal cords doesn't matter for like- 90% of people unless you happen to need your vocal cords in perfect condition for singing/voice work or something but if that's not you, don't worry lol. You can still enjoy ice cold water - just that if we're talking optimal drinking experience, then undoubtedly room temperature is superior.
People seem to be slightly confused, room temperature water is not anywhere close to being warm, it still feels cold and refreshing, since "room temperature" usually means it's around 15° celsius colder than your body temperature.
Even if your room is 30° and you're sweating like hell, the water from that room will STILL feel somewhat cold to the touch and refreshing.
In what world is room temperature 15°C???
Also, the last sentence makes no sense. If your room is 30C then that is NOT considered room temperature plus if you leave water in a 30C room, then that water will be considered very warm. Room temp is around 20C-25C, which can be classified as slightly warm to warm, nowhere near to be considered as cool or cold.
@@fancehdonneh1584 "15° colder than your body temperature" is what I said.
Room temperature is usually implied to be around 20°, the body temperature is around 36° and you know the math after that.
@@fancehdonneh1584 The sense of what's warm and what's cold is relative, our bodies don't measure actual degrees, just how much is something colder or warmer compared to the body (or body part) temperature.
Did you try holding some snow/ice for a while and then immediately washing your hands with your preferred temp setting for the faucet? If you did you would know how much warmer it feels compared to usual, even if the water temp is exactly the same as what you're used to, that's because your hands are cooler than normal, and the temperature sensing nerves feel a greater difference in temperature than usual.
In that same way 30° c water just won't feel warm, it won't be particularly refreshing for you, but it objectively speaking is still lower in temperature than your body and will still cool you somewhat (also because it's good at heat transfer, of course)
@@lightlezs7048yes whether one feels cold or warm is rather subjective but there's always one general consensus, that 30C is definitely considered AT LEAST warm. And back to room temperature argument, even tho that yes water lower than your body temp can cool you down, that's not the point to some people.
Here's the thing, if I want to feel like I am being cooled down, such as to make my brain (nerves) detect such a thing, then room temp water or anything above that (but still lower than body temp) is a no go. If you want to cool down your body for the sake of "just cooling it down" then sure that'll do the bare minimum for you. So to many people, having cold or iced water is way better because your brain will receive the "feeling" better and you are more likely to feel like you are being cooled down.
Lightly chilled water is my go-to close to room temperature but not actually cold. It's just a little chilly
when is the marvelous trash taste air debate
Connor and Mike from outside xbox have the exact same energy
I drink freezing cold water. I don’t care if it’s cold outside, I’m drinking freezing cold water. I also like to put milk in the freezer so it gets a little frosty. 😄
I'm drinking warm water. I don't care if it's hot outside, I'm drinking warm water.

same here dude! one of the perks of working behind a bar is having unlimited supply of ice, stir it with a straw and we are golden
Well, that escalated quickly…
Cold water is soooo nice on a hot day.
The best water ever is water from a classic ceramic filter, that's just slightly colder than room temp. I don't know how it is in other countries but where I live basically every house has one.
When it comes from a ceramic filter, it even has a slight change in taste! It's super good
Can you explain more? I’ve never heard of a ceramic filter - what is that?
@@mimimosa259 It's a large brown filter. In many places you can't drink tap water so you fill a filter and drink from it
Cold water is nice i just dont like having ice in it
I like water that is slightly cool but not warm or cold. Just slightly cool. No ice in anything unless it's an icee.
Absolute banger
SO There's actually a good amount of science behind Refreshment. First, connor is correct in that you shouldn't drink ice-cold water when your hot or when your working out. It doesn't ALWAYS trigger it, but, it can trigger a stomach ache and cramps. The reason is that the cold water hits the nerves in the stomach and esophagus and because your body is already hot, it's like when you put ice on a piece of hot metal, the metal reacts by suddenly contracting and can cause the metal to crack or shatter. We learned this in high school track too, you shouldn't drink super cold water and you should chug it either, both can cause cramping and stomach pain.
Sour/Acidic drinks are shown to produce the most saliva in our mouths, that's why lemonade and citrusy things are very refreshing, because our body reacts to it's need for water by drying it's mouth out, so you drink something that produces more saliva. Carbonated drinks are also very refreshing because the CO2 mimics this feature. Bitter drinks can also do this, but not really to the extent that a Sour one does.
For once, I'm with Connor, I prefer Room temperature water than cold water
as someone who is a water connoisseur depending on the PH of the water can change the feel and texture it provides on the pallet. Like higher PH water has a smoother feel when chilled.
Ice water just makes my throat and teeth hurt. I like my water only very slightly chilled but room temperature is fine, it lets me drink more of it to hydrate. And that's coming from someone who lived in the Mojave Desert for most of their life.
Not being able to chug cold water sounds like a skill issue
Actually the ice in the surface of antartica dont melt, thats why they have to bluid the stations there with pillars like elevators.
In an actual warm period of the earth at least one pole is completely free of ice. There was green in the antarctic at some point, but I think it also wasn't quite at the pole back then? Continental drift and all. Was many tens of millions of years ago.
Water is water for me. If they give it to me cold, I'd drink it cold, if it's room temp, sure. The only time I'd want something cold or hot is if they were designed to be drank in those temps like colas and juices.
...The problem here is, as someone who came from a place where room temp is average around the 30 Celsius...20 is pretty cool water lol
during summer here in india we keep the AC on during the night time sometimes i end up waking at like 2-3am and the bottle of water in the AC room is like perfectly cold and i like chug the entire thing down so i dont understand the part where it is 'too difficult' to drink but yeah
room temp water is perfectly fine
I'm not a huge fan of ice vold water but I do like it fresh. I'm so on board however with the idea of loving water, I think it has a great taste and I love experiencing all types of water. Legitimately my favorite drink in taste
He's right. It's just easier to drink and if its too cold it hurts
Throughout my normal meals, lukewarm water is my go to. I have a fridge with an ice maker but room temp water is already good for me. However, when eating hot food(temperature wise) or anything very salty like Tonkotsu Ramen, a bit of ice cold water really hits the spot.
I want water to either be really cold or warm. Boiled water that has cooled down to a drinking temperature basically.
Honestly the temperature of the water must first take into account the temperature outside
As a water drinker, room temperature is fine as long as it isn't warm. I'm also Australian and especially in summer, I want cold or ice cold water.
I agree with Connor, I prefer room temperature water, but I’m American.
I like water cooler than 20C (68F) but way warmer than fridge temperature.
It depends how clean the water is a lot.. most water isn’t super pure so tastes best cold , but if it’s got the right minerals and purity and isn’t stale it can be fine at room temperature
I just went to the website that said Rtp water taste the best. And it also states that chilled water (6°C) is the most refreshing
Yep same, i don't want my water to be ice cold
Sometimes you don't want to shock your throat with cold water. You just want basic room temp water.
no, I always want the coldest water possible, doesn't matter if it's -20 outside, I'll be chugging ice water all day long
Exactly, sometimes, but most times cold >> room temperature water
-2
As someone who is always warm and the concept of cold doesn’t exist I need to drink cold water or I’ll feel like I’m overheating
Cold for refreshment. Room temp for hydration. Also, room temp water is not "warm." Go outside on a hot day and leave a couple room temp bottles out to warm up. THAT'S warm. Actual room temp water is usually still cool to the touch and refreshing.
Also, room temp is better for hydration cuz you'll typically drink more and not trick your body into feeling refreshed from a shock of cold.
I dunno how true it is, but cold water is more hydrating than warm or room-temp water.
I can understand how cold water can be hard to drink a lot of. For me at least it is a physical reaction. If it's too cold could cause brain freezes or cool down my body to quickly.
I also prefer my water with Ice for this reason.
I mean, colder water FEELS better, but room temperature is LITERALLY better for your throat
I don't like my water ice cold, but i do like it a little chill
Would agree. I keep my room temperature water from early morning inside vacuum flask and man the temperature is absolutely perfect for a hot afternoon.
Preach king, room temp water is best
the beauty of democracy is the freedom to be absolutely fucking wrong
If your an avid water drinker you know room temp is best
Depends. When it's cold out or if I'm sick, I like lukewarm water. If it's really hot, I'll go for room temperature water or cold water.
Every time i get ice cold water, i need a tea afterwars because it just gets me bad shits
Cold water. Just…cold water (it’s extremely hot where I am right now)
Are you kidding me? Are you telling me when they visited NYC NONE of them either had/ heard of a NY bagel and that they’re good “because of the water” which is from Upstate. So yeah, Upstate NY water often does get praise lol.
I agree with Connor coz iced water hurts my teeth when it enters my mouth :’))))
I’m with Conor on this one, I prefer not super cold water bc I want to drink like half a bottle in one go. Also it’s “healthier” to drink room temp water bc your body can use it faster
Since, I catch cold easily, I prefer normal temperature water over chilled one or cold one. So I agree with connor.
when water has too much ice it hurts my teeth and i cant drink it as fast and the ice gets in the way i get what connor means
Cold water (with or without ice) is heavenly when you live in a city where 45°C is normal lol
Room temperature water is genuinely fucking hot here ngl
it does affect the taste of water though. temperature affects the taste of ALL things
I know this isn’t true for everyone but truthfully every single person I’ve known that prefers ice cold water over room temp water doesn’t drink that much water on a daily basis. I drink water because I drink a LOT of it everyday and like Connor said, I simply can’t enjoy drinking water when there’s a threshold of how much I can drink before it’s just painful.
My lil sis once for ate her spaghetti without heating it up in the microwave and said it tastes better that way. This was a sign I shouldn’t have trusted her when she said adding coke in my tea tasted pretty good
The tongue objectively speaking has an easier time "tasting" anything when it's as close to your body temperature as possible, so freshly cooked food or food that's straight out of the fridge will have less flavor (which isn't necessarily worse, just depends on preference, some people prefer milder tasting foods)
Same. Water just goes down better when it's at room temp. Unless weather is too hot.
Love the "trash taste take" of New York City is New York state. Upstate New York is incredibly clean and beautiful! Saw the best night sky of my life in upstate New York! Whole galaxy with space dust and all. If you're ever around I highly suggest checking out the Adirondacks! Clean beautiful and wild. Y'all should check it out if you're ever in the area!
I cant drink warm water , it just deosnt taste good , calm water just taste better
I prefer refrigerator cold, ice cold, piping hot, or very warm drinks. Lukewarm and room temp is just inferior.
Sure, things like beer and wine can work room temp for the taste. But most of the time, I want my drink hot or cold, not room temp.
It depends on what you call room temperature, 20C sounds pretty cold to me 😂
I had a friend who would put freshly delivered pizza in the fridge for an hour before eating it
well water sommeliers said its the easiest to differentiate water taste in a room temperature, not that it does taste best neither refreshes the most :|
I like to stay hydrated so I drink room temp water, only about 130-140 fl oz a day
Good morning
I kind of get what Connor is saying. To me, there is a balance, if water is too cold, I just can't enjoy it, but if it's like... warm then no, that's not refreshing anymore.
I think water straight out of the tap, no ice, is best.
I want an argument between are the more wheels or doors in the world
My mother would rather die than to drink luke warm water. LMAO
Same she always brings out a frozen water in a bottle and adds water to it then drink it
They're about to kill each other
Nope, all my drinks (including water) get chilled in the fridge.
Its best to let a very cold water from jug rest.for abo.ut a minute
I also prefer room temperature water, but mostly because cold water just hurts my teeth like crazy and I live in australia. Also there was times when I was really sick and all I could drink was room temperature water the cold and hot water just make you feel even more sick but there's something about water that's around room temperature or body temperature that just much more drinkable when you're sick. From a science point of view cold water actually isn't good for you reasons being sensitive teeth and it may affect your immune system, your gut health with changes of temperature. In chinese medicine they also say cold water makes you sick, but that's not science that's just chinese medicine but I have to agree with them that room temperature seems to be more universally accepted especially in asian countries and other parts of the world where they don't really have access to cold water.
warm beer type shi
Ice water hurts my tummy
Agree with Conner. For me hot water with little bit of room temperature water or room temperature water is best for me
cool > room temp > ice cold > hot > warm
10:00 Garnt so salty after finding the attic water is healthy
What are these chapter titles bro 😭
I like ice cold or fridge temp drinks cause it's more refreshing. For coffee and tea, I like it hot. But lukewarm or room temp drinks is just mid. I think Connor mentioned he just has a sensitive mouth.
Okay so as someone who drinks like 3 litres of water a day I think this take is bad but he’s right. I don’t like ICE cold water but I like cold water, not room temp
Ok, so i prefer cold water and i understood Conners point....
UNTIL He said he prefers hot water over cold water. I can see people making an argument for room temperature water. But hot water is awful
As a cold pizza enjoyer: I'm not gonna take advice on how to eat what is essentially a bread dish from Garnt.
American here: freaking love room temperature water. I do like it cool here and there, but Temp is best
I'm a cold drink person and a hot pizza person...my fiance on the other hand is the opposite xD
Me and my wife both prefer room temperature water. People who enjoy drinking water don't want it to be ice cold. You can drink way more water at room temperature and it truly quenches your thirst. Cold water just quickly makes you not want to drink anymore.
Bring Corner to a summer place (equator) without AC just a fan he will realise y we drink cold water
It deoends a lot on water quality for me. Like if its good then I don't like ice. Mid quality water need ice
5-10°C is peak water
they missed the UPSTATE part of NY didn't they. Aka parts of New York state that isn't the city
How can you be an adult and not know that Antarctica is a freaking continent! XD
Leftover cold pizza from the night before is hella good. Fresh hot pizza is also hella good. **shrugs**
I love cold water on a hot day. However, cold water always upsets my stomach. So room temperature it is.
I do prefer hot pizza but honestly could pizza aint that bad either
Kool aid and frozen pizza
Just put the water IN the fridge. No need for ice.
the “sommeliers” never said one was better than the other just that with room temperature water you can distinguish the different flavors between brands js🤷♂️, ice cold is far superior
