  • The Sabre Rattles (2002): With tensions rising between George Bush and Saddam Hussein, we take a tour of Iraq as it prepares for US attacks.
    Subscribe to Journeyman here: www.youtube.com...
A huge mosaic of George Bush Sr. grins up from the floor. Underneath, the words: "Bush is criminal". "They want to control the whole region - politically, economically and militarily" says Tariq Ali, Vice Prime Minister. Ali Hashmi, a former Ambassador, agrees: "One thing we know for sure, we can defend ourselves"... Not, he insists, with weapons of mass destruction: "Iraq no longer has these weapons". Increased roadblocks and car-searches indicate heightened tension. But it's unlikely that war is the first priority of most Iraqi people - since the 1991 UN trade embargo was implemented childhood diseases and deformity have risen by 25%. In a Baghdad hospital we see hideous deformities. Iraq wants to see the end of the sanctions it says causes them, before it will let the weapons inspectors back in.

Thanks for giving the correct translation. I've been doing personal research into all of OIF why we actually went, what all happened, ect. It's hard to find information that isn't either conspiracy or us propaganda. I just want to see the plain facts. However, I wanted to see what Baghdad looked like before the invasion and it looks really nice.

@@thebeardedskidders4267 There is a wonderful Storyville documentary from 2005 called "Why do we fight". You would enjoy it.
Young children in the documentary were asked the question "What are we fighting for?". Its disturbing to watch children repeatedly use the word "freedom".
Im assuming that one or two of those children later ended up in the middle east. One may even have died there... for "freedom".
It isn't in any way different from 1930's German children who later ended up in Stalingrad. The rationale is different, yes, but the propaganda machine works in essentially the same way, adapted to 21th century methods of communication.
      Quite disturbing.
