    From Gibson:
The Gibson SG Modern incorporates many contemporary updates that players have embraced and it’s much more than a classic “solid guitar”; it’s a hybrid between an SG and a Les Paul. Shaped and scarfed like a classic SG, the body is crafted with a AA maple top and mahogany back, characteristic of a Les Paul. This combination is renowned for its resonance and sustain. The genuine ebony, 24 fret compound radius fingerboard and asymmetrical, slim taper neck allow fast and silky access to the highest frets. A pair of calibrated BurstBucker Pro Alnico V humbuckers deliver fire power and the push-pull controls allows you to switch between the Gibson humbucker and the single coil P90 sounds, both of which have defined so many genres of music across multiple generations since we invented them. Upscale appointments include genuine mother of pearl inlays, Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners, and clear top hat knobs.

That is one damn beautiful SG. I think, if they are going to do an asymmetrical neck carve, they should slowly flip which end is thicker as they move down the neck. Fatter at the bass side up by the nut, and slowly working its way to thicker at the treble side as you go toward the bridge. It may give your thumb somewhere to sit comfortably.

12:40 i like that you mention that.
It is really hard to explain to other people when we dont like guitars which significantly wider (widening?) necks, same issue with Ibanez guitars, really thin neck on the back, really wide if you are on the 15th fret, making it uncomfortable to grab somehow, the thumb ends on a really weird position (mid neck, almost horizontal)
The only brand I have noticed has necks that dont go too wide on higher frets, are Yamahas😮

I purchased the 61 reissue and checked it out. The neck was really flimsy and seemed to bend back and forth way to easy not feeling sturdy at all. The guitar had a slight fret buzz on the E string I couldn't resolve. I sent it back and got the SG modern. The SG modern neck was much more stable and the pro burst bucker pickups sound awesome. The playability in my opinion is excellent but it did take about a week to get used to. The tones are incredible. Highly recommend this guitar. My opinion.

I just bought one of the blueberry fades over the weekend. I really like it - I would most likely never own an SG otherwise (not a fan of the classic look on them). I was already used to the neck though, having a 2018 Les Paul Std. HP with the same neck; that neck is an odd little duck and did take some getting used to at first. Lol, it's kinda the mullet of guitar necks, thick enough at the top to make cording comfortable if you throw your thumb over, and thin enough from the middle to the bottom of the neck for proper thumb placement when soloing 'shredder-style' (or wanna-be shredder in my case 😂). Take all of my positive appraisal with a huge heap of salt - outside of my stable of explorers, I'm more of an ESP and Jackson guy even though I don't really play metal anymore. The classic feel and vibe that Gibson offers in many of their models is lost on me.

I ordered one blind because the specs on that look like it's my ultimate SG guitar, but sadly, the so-called medium jumbo frets were closer to feeling like a fretless guitar and I sent it back after playing it for 5 minutes as no setup in the world can fix that issue without a refret.

How is tuning stability with this on your center strings? I’m truly curious how stable as Gibson history we all know I wondered. Had they somehow corrected that with the nut design or any position movement of the tuners thanks again sounds like a stupid question but I have a lot of Gibson guitars, and I love this one. I emailed Gibson with a photograph and explanation of the authentic problem and they in turn asked me what my problem was and if I could send them a picture. Gibson guitars are supposed to sound Fat because humbuckers were made for that purpose. 😆 I own a Epiphone Explorer, and it's got two humbuckers, and they have a full bodies, far sound, but I can play, so that's what matters, not the guitar in your hands. If you suck, practice will make you better, but only if you keep on practicing on a regular basis. What is talent, if you do not get regular practice?!? My shitty attitude is only fueling my criticism but at least I have not sacrificed my common sense. I've spent my two cents, and now I'm headed to bed.
