    I really like how you go into detail on the cases and all the other smaller aspects. I can't really think of anyone else who does that, not even Trogly. I don't know why, but that really appeals to me. In fact, I wish you'd go into even greater detail.

      Thank you for the kind words. Believe me, I’d love to go into finer detail if I had a bit for free time on my hands! Thanks for checking out the video, cheers!

    😂 I've wanted an SG supreme for so long ! The flame top, Ebony fretboard and 24 frets is the main features that made me want an sg supreme in the first place, so when an epiphone sg prophecy 2008 showed up on Craigslist for $60 I had to go get it ! 😊 It's neck and body are dead ringers to my 2017 Gibson SG standard so I'm just blown away by the quality and consistency of those older epiphone guitars ! I'm very very happy with it and won't be shelling out $3,500 for the Gibson😂

    I have the 2024 Les Paul Supreme and it is far and away the best LP I've played. These SG's seem to have the same elements that the LP's have and they look stunningly beautiful and absolutely badass at the same time. I don't know how they did that, but they did. I want one...bad.

    I had no idea the neck dive issues with an SG were conceptual .

    I'd get the wine red as well if I were an SG guy and had $3500 lying around. It looks great. As usual excellent breakdown Grip.

    Hey! May have missed this in the video, but was there any neck dive with this SG Supreme?

    • @CompanyGrip
      @CompanyGrip  Před 4 měsíci

      No worries - no neck dive with a standard strap, but it was pretty much ‘just’ balanced. If you check right before the sound test it’s in there.
      Cheers!

    OMG! someone who actually turns down the volume controls. I see so many demos and they're always done with the volume (and tone generally) controls on 10. The tone changes dramatically simply by backing off the volume. Especially useful to reduce the "darkness" on the neck pickup when playing rhythm. It's even more dramatic with P90's and the Alnico V.

    That's a killer finish. That mahogany back and neck look great in the wine red. Correct me if I'm wrong but it actually to my eyes looks more like what the original darker 60's "cherry" finish looked like new. So many of the models these days look orangey or faded in good lighting, but this one appears onscreen to not have that issue whatsoever. Again, correct me if I'm mistaken. :)

    • @CompanyGrip
      @CompanyGrip  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I’d say you’re correct. It is definitely darker than the cherry fades that have been more common lately. Thanks for checking out the video!

    I have all of the LP and SG Supremes from 2000 to 2016. So I'm biased. I have to get one of these to round out the collection. There is enough here that is different to make it a worthy companion to the others. Thanx for a good review.

    • @CompanyGrip
      @CompanyGrip  Před 4 měsíci

      That’s pretty cool! Which year is your favorite for both the LP and the SG?

    • @TheJeffcurran
      @TheJeffcurran Před 4 měsíci

      @@CompanyGrip 2000 SG Supreme. 2014 LP Supreme. But honestly, all of the 2000 to 2008 SG Supremes are the same. And all of the 2003 to 2013 LP Supremes are the same.
      The 2014 LP Supreme is the F-Hole version and way different than any previous LPs. The 2016 SG Supreme is the carved top version and not my favorite although it does have some rare 2005 Seymour Duncan 50th anniversary PAFs in it.
      I also have the 2013 SG Supra and 2013 SG Deluxe which are very much Supremes. Also have a 2008 SG Select that while it doesn't have 24 frets, it's all maple. Front, back, and neck.
      Juniors, Specials, Standards, and Customs? Got those too. I'm an SG fanatic.

    • @CompanyGrip
      @CompanyGrip  Před 4 měsíci

      That’s pretty awesome! I love me some SGs as well. I’m up to 8, but I only see that number growing… I’ve always liked the Diablos and regret not getting one when they were $3k on the used market…

      @TheJeffcurran Před 23 dny

      I finally got a 2024. I'm not disappointed. It's excellent to say the least. I got a Fireburst. I already have a Wine Red 2008 SG Select so I was looking for a different color. It's on fire. I can't say enough good things about this reissue.

    The thing that bothers me is that strap button location. That just isn't enough beef to hold that for decades. I would bet money that becomes a problem break point on these guitars as if the head stock is not enough.

    • @guitarplayer_de
      @guitarplayer_de Před 3 měsíci

      I don't think that there will be a problem. Enough wood there to hold the button in my opinion... 🤔

      My SG strap button has been on the tip of the upper bout for about 15 years. Never an issue. Also the 3 other SGs were just as happy.

    I am NOT a fan of the Gibson modern. They don't sound like Gibson guitars anymore.
