This was a refreshingly honest critique about a Billie performance. It wasn't overpraised, but it also wasn't mean.
As coaching should be. People who over-critique and over-praise don't teach. (Like judges on talent shows.)
Omar I mean I agree sheâs an angel but a review should be respectful and honest, pointing out the goods and the flaws
This isnât the easiest song for her. She takes the top note on a good day. I think the more she goes on in the industry, and gains more knowledge, she can keep improving her vocal technique.
Tyler Hackner itâs her singing technique. Her style of singing doesnât really give her support for high notes
I'm confused why are people praising her for learning? She reached mainstream vocalists success without mastering prerequisites of vocal technique? I really don't know anything about her this is the first time hearing her.
@@obe22099 she was a TEENAGER in her growth = your voice change and of course she has vocal technique, it's Billie singing in the recording song with the right note lol, but she sang every day and in those years she never stopped she hasn't stopped since she was 15/16 and sometimes her voice was tired, and as a teenager she was always sick traveling around the world she had sinusitis etc.. so SOMETIMES she couldn't pick that note because using a breathy tone is not as simple as using your fully voice and normally she takes it with that but it's not easy with that tone ... however your voice improves over the years, of course lol... at 14/17 is not your best for sure.... you are a child.. at 30 it's certainly better and every day singers must continue to practice it's normal ... Mariah carey, Amy from Evanescence etc have not been able to take certain notes for years even if they are still young as singer therefore for you they doesn't deserve to be one of the best vocalists of history? ... lol
Billie also said in a interview after this performance that she was sick - which probably didnât help the higher notes
bLAcK sannTA everyone has different voices though
I've seen another live that she didn't make it. Hopefully that she wasn't always sick before her live perfomance.đ
bLAcK sannTA yeah I get it. Itâs just a lot of people undermine her abilities just bc her style of singing is soft. She actually has amazing control!
N J she said itâs hard for her to hit that note even on a good day
3yykev69 well everyoneâs dif đ
I think she said, she take this note on a good days. So i think that was bad day.
sasa sasa yes she said she was really sick during the Grammys
She miss those notes in a lot of concerts tho.
Yeah it looks like not so ez to here
i don't mind at all, i think her performances are more visceral, intimate. and not like a super star that is above everyone, if you understands what i mean xD
She said that this song is hard EVEN on a good day, so it's just probably out of her performance range still.
I think her hitting and missing that note in performances gives it so much character I love it, it fits her so well
Billie talked about this song being hard to sing for her when she sang it on the Howard Stern show, and in the performance it appears she loses that top note as well. It may be something she always struggles with hitting, which surprises me why she chose that song to perform at the Grammy's.
Christine Carter
Itâs because billie is less obsessed with sounding perfect and more into giving an emotionally captivating performance, which - in her case, specifically - means she sometimes has voice cracks and slip-ups. Itâs not her highest priority.
@@mcgreger8091 For sure. A modern day Sia, if there is a comparison. The voice cracks are okay - it's a part of "her" sound. The more people listen to her, they will respect it and know it as her performance. And yes, she does go airy on that note she cracked on at the grammy's in the Howard Stern performance, but she actually does hit it vs cracking it.
McGreger no excuse, if you gone sing the song, you need to sing it right. Matter of fact, âSANGâ, sing. âđŸ
Ginovious Thomas
She wrote the song and to be quite frank she can sing it however she pleases. Billie HAS the vocal ability to hit that note, but itâs not the point of the song or very good during her sets on stage. You are in no place to dictate how she sings.
Pretty sure they don't get to choose the song. The Grammys (and most other shows) tell them what song they'd like them to sing
I LOVE Billie and I've heard her sing this song and many others LIVE online and I believe usually she hits that top note BUT when i watched the Grammy's and this performance I also thought the same things you mentioned. It definitely seemed like she was just "playing it off" because she repeatedly ran outta air on that note and knowing a little about Billie I'm sure inside she was beating herself up about it because she is VERY much the perfectionist! All good tho, not her best BUT she has proven many times how amazing she is even LIVE!
Indeed, we can only speculate. đ
Yes I saw the disappointment on her face.
Love how she said âlittle piano mess up thereâ but it was right on key lol
i know i was like WHAT MESS UP
There's supposed to be a major third there. He only played it as one single note rather than an interval/chord. Wasn't the wrong note, but it wasn't the right pitch.
@@icantgetridofthisusernamehelp They can't hear it. They also can't hear her limited vocal skills.
But the brilliant decision business-wise, that was a good one.
@@krollpeter Yeah, it sounded like he hesitated, like he knew he was about to mess up, and I know exactly what that sounds like.
Yeah, a lot of people in the comment section are trying so hard to justify those vocals. It's okay for someone to sing bad one time. But that's just me.
When?
You should react to her new song âno time to dieâ, I really wanna know what your opinion on it is!
itâs so beautiful đđœ
jayden garza the live version
Yesssss
I was also surprised that this performance was not her best and she didn't hit the high note.. but I guess it was all nerves and pressure because it was her first grammys. but in my opinion she compensated the high notes with a more powerful "belt" because she usually only uses her "soft singing" voice.. Thank you for the video! I was really interested in hearing a professional opinion on her performance
honestly this is my favorite of her performances
Celine B. I agree. There are other live performances of WTPO (one I just watched was Live @ SiriusXM from last year) where she hits the note fine. I think the day, celebration, and awards won at the Grammys had her emotional. Who wouldnât be for their first time? đ
What she brings to the table is amazing, and I canât wait to hear her more and more in the coming years (hopefully decades đ) as she gets better and better.
I also hope she sticks with Finneas. They are yin and yan.
Belt? I didnât hear any belting throughout this song ...
Jamie Disu neither Billie nor any of her fans know what a belt is
Jamie Disu I know itâs not a belt thatâs why I put it in ââ
React to Billie performing No Time To Die at the BRITs! She killed it!
Wait she's performed already??
@@poppyefemey Yeah, just watched it live on TV
@@dancanvocals she killed the high note so good đđđđ
Yesss She slayed that! She isnât always quiet she can be powerful too
Dan Cing It was great but I feel like the mic was too quiet I could barely hear her
I like how is sounds when she whispers the high note. It's that kind of signature that make the music what it is.
She does it because she has a hard time hitting that high notes, but if it sounds good for you then good
Billie is just incredible. I love what she is bringing to the industry.
No offense but on my worst day while hung over, with a head cold and a mouth full of moms spaghetti I'd still sound 100 to the power of 100 times better than what this boy would sound like on his best day. This is why the Industry is dieing because of the poor talent.
@@prieck9282 ..... literally what?
@@prieck9282 true
@@prieck9282 lmao
P Rieck Billieâs appeal is her beautiful voice which Iâm sure you donât have
I love the airy quality of Billieâs voice, even though itâs probably an acquired taste.
Tyler Hackner I agree, thereâs something refreshing about it
You should check her new "no time to die" performance. She is actually belting in it
Link? :D
I noticed she was struggling with the high notes too. The Grammy's were the same day Kobe passed so it could have been that. At any rate, I'd like to hear you review her performance of "No Time to Die" at the Brits. I feel it was a much better performance for her and want to hear what you have to say.
I think she said she was sick too
I think she used the emotion as cover for missing the note, still loved the performance though it was beautiful
she said sheâs been going through a lot lately so i donât think it was âcoverâ as we all knew she missed it...nevertheless it was beautiful and sheâs definitely talented âșïž
@@sumeya1923 yeah shes amazing, I hope she doesnt get chewed up and destroyed like so many young people in the industry. Shes so special
Yeah I think she used emotion as a cover up as well cuz she usually misses the high notes in a lot of other live performances.
Christopher Bird I think so too because she said she can barely hit that note on a good day
The high note of the fourth inversion that she was whispering is the same note as the first note of "quiet when I'm coming home..."
we cant forget the she was SIT DOWN and she was SICK
She was sick?
Carina Torres yes she was sick during Grammys and she might have been emotional because it was on the the Kobe and Gigi passed. Also she has said she purposefully doesnât hit the note on a bad day so I think she didnât want to because she was sick
She was 100% choked up from nerves. She has many live performances of this song and she always usually hits both of those notes. She has said she was incredibly nervous because of all of her Grammys the pressure was so immense
Delicately driven vocals with thoughtfulness in every detail of the lyrics. The wonder in her execution is the beauty of it all.
Legitimately one of the best songs ive ever heard in my life. As a 26 year old, who never listened to Billie Eilish before this, its pure genius.
I love Billie, her voice obviously did break a couple times but it still sounds amazing! Even if she was sick it sounds good!
The reason why she chocked was because she tributes the song for Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gigi because on that day they passed away
she literally didnât but ok
she said she can hit the note on a good day... that wasnât an excuse for her lmao
@@punkstarsx bruh nobodys perfect. If she could do anything why would we need the other singers?
Chris F tf
I'm a 47 year old man who has a hard time connecting with most new music out now. Billie is quite refreshing, she brings a very different and special vibe to her music and to know that her and her brother do all of the production in his childhood bedroom and maintain control. I really dig her vibe.
Can you also do her version of "Yesterday"? It's so emotional and probably one of my favorite performances of hers:)
Laura Vaht - i liked it too :-)
I totally agree!!!
Billies and Finneas put so much effort and hard work into her music itâs crazy!
I'm seeing her live April 10th and I cant wait she puts on an amazing show but I've always loved her voice its soft and elegant without overdoing it you dont have to constantly belt notes to make it sound pretty or have feeling like her voice does the talent she has for her age is amazing
Thanks for accepting my request!!
I was looking for an honest opinion about that note and you delievered it perfectly!
Thanks a lot! đ
Thank you for reacting to thissss. I really want to know how do you think of her voice please do more of billie eilishhhh.
i love how she added a bling to her outfit for this performance but still chooses the baggier style. i love that she holds the attention to her beautiful vocal and style instead of the body image that everyone tends to focus on. she is amazing.
some performers WOW you others draw you into their story. Eilish is the later. A beautiful story teller. Lovely.
Billieâs voice always gives me this old school vibe
Please do Chloe x Halle âEverywhereâ live at the Late Late Show with James Corden! Amazing harmonies and coordination!
OMG YESS. Tara please react to them! They are amazing!
CHLOE AND HALLE ARE AMAZING
Yessđ
She doesn't always deliver with this song. But when she does it's really beautiful.
I love how intentional and emotionally focused she is
Even though she struggled hitting a couple of those notes I think she had so much raw emotion that it kind of like balanced it out and made up for it
Hey Tara! I sugget you 3 songs to react to:
1) Lea MIchele's "Don't rain on my parade" at the 2009 Tony's
2) Jeremy Jordan's "It's all coming back to me now" at Brodway Loves Celine Dion
3) Cynthia Erivo's "Stand Up" at the 2020 Oscars
hope you like them :D
presut I LOVE CYNTHIA ERIVO!!
@@stephaniedavis236 Same! She's so great :D Can't wait to see Harriet, since here where I am it's not out yet
The silence sound on vocalice is art..
Love Billie
True it wasnât one of her best performances but in an interview she said she was sick during the performance. And she also has asthma. She usually hits the noteâ€ïž
U can literally see the tears in her eyes when she was singing
I believe that she was experiencing being at a place sheâs always dreamed of being but never expected to ever be, and this performance was just filled with the emotion of realizing her dream came true and she made it to the Grammy stage. AND SHEâS ONLY 18!!...itâs crazy.
Also, please react to Nicole Scherzinger performing âDonât Cry for me Argentinaâ. I will continue to post this on every one of your videos until you do.

She recorded this song originally like 4 or 5 years ago. And her voice still sounds amazing since the recording, even if she missed a couple notes, she's still one of the best singers of our generation.
She is not, lol.
She isn't close to being one of the best singers of our generation. She is good but not that good in my opinion.
Iâve been waiting for thisđ€đ€
Tara is such a great singer
Goosebumps. Every time.
Billies voice is angelic also she wasnât feeling well that dayđ„ș
I love your new intro so much Tara!
Amazing performance, I am sure that is her brother playing the piano in this performance. They both very talented. They both appeared on the BRIT awards 2020.
I think that she was genuinely emotional because there are many times shes hit that note live. I love the critiques you had they were definitely honest and constructive, not harsh at all!
Thank you for reacting to this!
Yes! My favorite online voice teacher watching my favorite singer! She can hit the note, but she has also said that, THAT note is really hard for her ( in that particular song).
This is why I love her, something differentđ€đ§
personally i thought this was definitely one of the best performances at the grammys
As one vocalist to another, I take great appreciation in this performance and kindly disagree with the small critique. This performance was raw and drew me in. I actually felt emotions when she "missed" the high notes and instead offered a deeply moving whisper. Her artwork is different than polished belters. Absolutely. Even myself, so trained to do what the musical roadmap tells me to do. Her style is all hers and there is no roadmap. its intriguing to me and so refreshing to have an artist that can convery such an emotion.
This is the second time Tara commented on Billie's nails anyway'z Billie is so talented and I love love love her
I love her voice
Thanks for talking about why she doesn't hit that high note, in both this performance and when she sang this on Howard Stern she missed it. I'm not a musical person so I didn't really understand why. Appreciate the detail!
Thatâs her voice sheâs amazing
Great review!!!
I think Billie agreed with you on this performance. I didn't notice it because I just become hypnotized when she sings. She was happy with her Brit Awards performance. Do that one some time, too.
I love Billie Eilish. Her voice is unique and recognizable. For vocalists under the age of 20, very few female vocalists have unique recognizable voices. Diana Akuninova is another.
Now Iâm going to treat all you Billie Eilish fans around the world to a vocalist who passed away recently but in my generation ( 1960s ... Iâm 74 years old) had a small but worldwide cult following and I consider her the â Billie Eilish of the 1960s.â Her name
Morgana King with a celestial heavenly ethereal voice, unique and mesmerizing. Just like Billie. When a song by her came over the radio, ( today Spotify , CZcams , etc) within the first 30 seconds ( Like Billie Eilish today) you KNEW it was Morgana King and you stopped whatever you were doing to listen. Frank Sinatra called her the best female vocalist he ever heard.
If I may so bold as to suggest you listen ( when you have a few moments) to the following 3 songs that will silence your mind and open the floodgate of your heart. The first 2 were created and posted by a â Morgana fanâ with remarkable imagery which enhanced the emotional impact!!
And hope you add them to your playlist so that others may enjoy.
Please CZcams
â Morgana King Happy Birthday 2017â ( 4:26 in duration). The song is called â desert hush/I am a leafâ please be sure to click the 4:26 one ( the one with a photo of her with lyrics) and NOT the 4:25 or any of the others.
â Morgana King Prelude to a kissâ ( 3:49 duration)
And finally one more that is to this day her signature song about a lover that promised to return but never did.
â Morgana King sings a taste of honeyâ ( 5:17 duration).
So pleased that the younger generation who I send these songs to are amazed and profusely thank me for turning them on to the â Billie Eilish of the 1960sâ Again, if you love Billie , please take a few moments out of your day to listen to Morgana. Her emotionally impactful voice will transport you to another world. I promise.
R.I.P. Morgana King
I thought the same! Her âclosedâ singing technique interferes with her achieving high notes! No âsupportâ to get it out by singing this way. You hit it right on the money
Personally i think she did great. Also she noted that she was really sick. She tried her best to get the high note when she was sick
No time to die live also Billie from BRIT awards! Sooooi gooood!
This was an awesome critique! Personally, I've always found her and Finneas's cover of Michael Jackson's "Bad" from a couple of years ago to be one of her best live performances. She puts TONS of her own style into it and even belts a little bit the climaxes. It would be a great one to react to!
You should react to Marina Kaye ^^
She's a young french singer who won France got talent 4 or 5 years ago for her singing skill ^^

She intentionally doesn't hit the note when she says "and I'll call you when the party's over." She hits that same note in the very next line, the word "quiet" in the next line starts off on the same note that "over" would end on.
I think on that high note she primarily goes in soft and the note either happens or it doesn't but she would rather do that than put more volume into it just to secure the note. I've seen her do exactly the same in other live videos.
