  • Episode 2507: The Kingdom of Morocco - Country Overview
This week on This Is America & The World, Dennis Wholey travels to North Africa to begin a visit to the Kingdom of Morocco. While in Morocco’s capital city of Rabat, Dennis visits the city’s Museum of History and Civilizations to get a sense of Morocco’s historical role in the expansion of human civilization. To learn about Morocco today as well as the historic US/Morocco relationship, Dennis visits U.S. Consul General to Casablanca, Lawrence M. Randolph. Their conversation explores Morocco’s importance to the region, its role in the world as well as what Americans can expect when exploring the rich history and modern culture of the Kingdom of Morocco.

The country was first unified by the Idrisid dynasty in 789, representing the first Islamic state in Africa autonomous from the Arab Empire. Under the Almoravid dynasty and the Almohad dynasty, Morocco dominated the Maghreb and Muslim Spain.[1][2]"

@@Amurjojo Morocco is a blended country with history, that expand from Spain and France to the Middle East. That doesn’t then making Morocco Arabic.
And Moroccan doesn’t speak Arabic completely, like what you see in Saudi Arabia or Egypt. It’s an dialect, where Moroccan includes France and Spanish words too.
Just because Morocco is United with the Arabs, doesn’t mean it makes them arab. It’s all about politics, and politics doesn’t describe us.
It’s very disrespectful to make our history so squarish and simple by saying we’re Arabs. Our history includes berbers as the originally people, Spanish as the moors, who immigrated, France who stayed after the colonization and Arabs who discovered North Africa and learned us about Islam

Thank you Mr. Dennis Wholey for your efforts, and don’t forget “ Rafissa”. As a Moroccan, I was amazed and proud to visit one of the oldest Moroccan consulates in the US, and especially the one in CA ( Los Angeles), which still stands there for more than 2 centuries. The interviewer is clearly a man of the 50s & 60s based on how he presented himself, asked questions and the nature of those questions. He will have definitely gained more knowledge from this novel experience, which proves evolution happens all the time and it is nice to be able to witness one as it took place.
