I am from Singapore and I am impressed with what I see of Morocco here. Progressive and modern city of Rabat. Would love to visit you guys. Incidentally, my national football team was hammered 1-7 by the Moroccan A team last week! lol...And Hakeem Ziyech was not even in the team!

We love Singapore too, but I have some good news for you, the team that beat you is actually the local team from local league players only. The A team is full of pros in Europe but they play with no passion since they have not been raised in Morocco, most of them don't even speak Moroccan (like Ziyech for example)

Allow me to add that the mosque Hassan 2 is financed in large part by citizens, that was a great idea of the King Hassan the 2nd who wanted to involve all moroccans in the construction of this mosque even with only 1 dirham. I am touched and deeply grateful for this because the muslims believe that if one helps to build a mosque then God will build a Home for him in Heaven and the king wants to share the same home in heaven with his people and that's so sweet

TALIM's new director seems to be quite dynamic. Quite a change from J.D. For any American, you really owe it to yourself to visit the American Legation. For any RPCV you must stop and inquire about its colorful Peace Corps history.
Rabat is one of my favorite cities in Morocco. For expats, it's amazing. There was soooo much that got skipped in Rabat that was worth showing/mentioning. (There's a really nice, authentic French crêperie behind the Catholic Cathedral next to the Institut Français...) Hay Riad is developing into a beautiful area especially along the coast. The medina is small, but I like it, and the kasbah is not to miss.
The sign on the Atlantic coast during the Tangiers segment is a great place for a view from the lighthouse. A few years ago there was a boy with a donkey who would take pictures with tourists and had taught himself some Chinese using CZcams. He had learned a popular Chinese (kids?) sing and would sing it for tourists. This was just after Morocco and China had signed the reciprocal agreement for visa-free travel. It was cute seeing him dressed as a jebli and hearing his voice squeak as he sang. Tourists seemed amused. He must be about 16 now.
There is a very nice museum/workshop across from the Hassan II mosque in Casablanca that is a must visit for anyone interested in the Moroccan decorative arts. It's really well done. (By the way, the mosque is massive, but a bit expensive for tourists to visit.)
Essaouira is a true gem. The artists and artisans there are really chill. Outside the Gnaoua Festival it's a great place to visit with some great, creative restaurants. During the Gnaoua Festival the place is packed! You have a hard time believing you are in Morocco during the festival.
This series has been a great overview of Morocco, but it has really missed some vital details.

Yes, it's true that most Moroccans speak little English. But why? Because in Morocco English is taught as a foreign language and not as a second language which is French, due to historical reasons. When I see people like this official speaking good enough English I tell myself, well he 's doing fine! Yes, others can't do the same unfortunately, but this is changing... English now is spoken more than ever before, which is not a bad thing either... Let's keep optimistic...

After all that has been said, two more facts:
1- The hasan two mosque was built through a nationwide crowdfunding in the early 1980s. The late Hasan two paid a quarter of the construction costs out of his own pocket. The rest is paid by the proud Moroccan people. Hasan two and his folk is a very unique love story.
2- Hasan two mosque is the closest mosque to the western part of the world on an Islamic country.🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️🇲🇦❤️🇲🇦❤️🇲🇦
