  • The Kraken are moving to Amazon Prime and KING 5 / KONG starting next season, leaving ROOT sports. They will also be keeping much of the same broadcast crew!

    The Amazon part is huge, but IMO the biggest part of this is the TEGNA partnership. This means it's FREE for anyone via OTA! No cable/monthly bill required, just a tv antenna. This is absolutely massive not just for the Kraken but for sports broadcasting in general.

      Oh yeah, I didn't even think about that you don't need cable to get those TEGNA channels. Pretty huge either way then!

      How does one get TEGNA? Does it just show up when I connect my new antenna that arrives Monday and search for broadcasts?

    This is a huge game changer and I hope this will also be available for Amazon Prime subscribers worldwide. I read from other sources that this will only be available for subscribers in the Pacific Northwest so I'll just wait and see how this turns out. If this service is also available for subscribers elsewhere in the world then I'm ALL-IN! I can finally watch our Kraken live here in the Philippines.

      It sounds like it'll be just for people in Washington, Oregon and Alaska but there are always VPNs

      You'll need a VPN to access Amazon Prime Video

    Thank the Maker!!! Sucks for the Mariners revenue stream but hopefully this makes ROOT changes it's business from a 2002 to a modern media/production company.

      You'd think at some point they would've figured it out but it seems like they are content to just go down with the ship

      Root owned by mariners, they refuse to change I doubt root will

    I think this is a good move, and I know there are many nuances, but I do find it a tad ironic when people cut the cord are vocal about how much better it is to not pay for cable and then have a hard time watching what they wanna watch😂

    They nare keeping most of the TV crew for coverage.

    Im really hoping spokane can get this right, we've had bad history with contract deals and coverage with the seahawks. It would piss me off if I had to pay for prime.

    • @CheapSeatsSports
      @CheapSeatsSports  Před měsícem

      I hope so too, but at least prime is pretty cheap as streaming services go. Hopefully it doesn't come to that tho.

    So seriously i have ESPN+ I've had it for 3 years now watched all the Kraken games through it. I live in Nampa, Idaho which is 30 miles west of Boise. Can i still have my games televised on that or do I need to ditch ESPN which I'm fine doing to get Amazon prime? That's my most important question. I WILL NOT pay $65 a month for Fubo TV IF I EVERY GET it. I wanna watch my Kraken and my Mariners I grew up watching my Mariners from back in the days of Rich Amoral, Bobby Ayala, Ken Griffey, Jr, Jay Buhner, MY ALL TIME FAVORITE Dan "The Man" Wilson, Randy Johnson. I miss my Mariners but 65 a month of absurd

    • @fxhomie
      @fxhomie Před měsícem

      You'll still need to have ESPN+ to watch Kracken games. Amazon Prime games will only be shown in WA, OR, & AK. KING5/KONG are OTA channels, so you need to live locally in the Seattle area or have a cable system/DirecTV feed which has those two channels.

    I am hoping the Mariners go the same way, I understand this would be an investment loss but they are not going to get much money from the channel anymore now that they won't have year around coverage, unless they think that Blazers games are enough to pay for.

    • @CheapSeatsSports
      @CheapSeatsSports  Před měsícem

      Me too, it would be really nice to be able to easily watch mariners games again.
