  • Teaching your little one to blend can be a lot more difficult than you initially think (I'm sure a lot of folks can relate to this.) But if you avoid these 5 mistakes, it'll feel MUCH easier and you'll see progress more quickly. #shorts

We are 2 months in using your techniques and my daughter can sound out every letter and is starting to read quite well by sounding out! We only do about 10-20 mins a day normally broken up into a couple sessions and I’m amazed at how fast she is understanding. Thank you!!

The teacher sent a huge list of sight words for our 6 year old to memorise. Phonics is not a priority apparently.
I so am grateful for all your important information. We’re definitely going to incorporate all these things at home.

Words like “the”, “is”, “me”, “she”, “he”, etc can’t just be sounded out. Little kids have an amazing ability to memorize that us adults don’t have. Sight words are an excellent tool to use along with phonics.

Most sight words can’t be sound out that’s why we call them sight words . The time a child sees them they read them

I just started with my 4 year old. She knows all letter sounds. If I try to teach her to blend and even say the sounds a-t or i-t together very slowly she still gets frustrated and gives up. Any advice?

She might need to go down to 2 sounds and get more practice blending out loud- I have examples in my free training! www.toddlersread.com/free-workshop?
