- Clancy Brown waxes lyrical about his seminal film Highlander, the secrets of sword fighting, and killing Sean Connery. Not in real life, of course.

His older Kurgen sounds even better than the younger one. All the sequels suffered because no-one was ever going to come close to him as a villain.
Best part is Red Death from Venture Bros is almost perfectly built like Kurgen, and naturally, he comes back to reprise the old role in his yellow eyes phase.
True--before I actually watched the film, I once watched a review about one of the crappy sequels, and the review kept leaping back and forth between the Kurgan and subsequent villains and I just thought, "Wow those sequels never stood a chance."
The worst for me was Mario Van Peebles. What were they thinking?
@@infiad1275 He ruined the franchise for sure.
My favourite line from kurgan is mom
Was I the only one who got chills when he said "HOLY GROUND HIGHLANDER! Remember what Ramirez taught you"?
No you were not, it's my favourite of his too
Wow! Awesome
I definitely got chills, because the Kurgen has always been one of my all-time favorite movie villains, and Clancy didn't lose a single beat with that epic voice.
The church scene was one of the best in the movie.
He was so funny dealing with the nuns and the priest fantastic actor
My favorite Kurgan line is when we first see he's bald. "I'm in disguise!"
Yeah, he was creepy as hell
ITS BETTER TO BURNOUT THAN TO FADE AWAY
Happy Halloween ladies!
@@ramgladore When does he say that?
When the two nuns tried to pass him discreetly mid conversation with Connor in the church. The Kurgan didn't give them an inch and said “Happy Halloween Ladies”.
Clancy's impression of Lamberts accent is bang on!!! Brillant actor. Seemes like a genuine down to earth guy too.
lol
He is a great guy. He is one of my fishing buddies and he is a very calm and cool guy. It's hard to see him playing all of these bad guys in movies when I am sitting on the other end of the boat and he is singing a song from Sponge Bob LOL.
One of my favorite Kurgin lines was when he took over the cadillac and the old woman was still in there and he turns to her and says, "Mom!"
That was hilarious.
Hearing Clancy Brown voice the Kurgan again just put a smile on my face.
I love this movie.
The best bad guy ever :)
I knew this guy wouldn't win when I first saw the movie but I was still rooting for him.
Clancy Brown, by far, the best thing about that movie.
Al - what a dismissive, bullshit declaration.
Yes sirrrrrrr
Yepppp
Clancy is just amazing. He has had so many iconic roles. Absolutely love him.
3 iconic characters voice acted by Clancy Brown: Mr Krabs, Lex Luthor, Doctor Neo Cortex
I argue he has much more.
He's Red Death, that guy from Detroit Become Human, a couple guys in the Jackie Chan cartoon, and at least half a dozen other roles.
He will always be my Hank
Kurgan is my favorite villain of all time. He just loves to be bad. It takes a great villain to make a movie like this memorable. If Kurgan wasn't great, this movie would have been forgotten.
He killed that Chris Lambert impression harder than he killed Ramirez!
Decades later and his Kurgan voice still sounds pretty spot on. Great 6 minute clip, thanks for sharing. The later villains all kind of tried to rip off the Kurgan but none held a candle to Clancy's performance. One of my favorite villains of all time.
I'm here to hear Hank Anderson's voice and I found Clancy in a kilt. Not disappointed at all. 👌❤
Queen, Sean, Lambert and Clancy...Highlander...my childhood. :-)
Me too..
Yup 👍🏼
‘Kastagir is dead. Only you & I remain' - he got all the best lines. 'Remember our agreement, Murdock'. 😍
So 👍good
Clancy Brown what a Gentleman,A giant in reality and on screen, Legend.
One of my fav movies growing up. I know every line. Clancy was amazing. He's great in everything. His impression of Lambert is hilarious.
As a fellow huge fan of the first film ( saw it in the theater in 1985) I highly recommend getting a copy of the original script. There are deleted scenes and dialogue that make the film even better.
The BLACK DARK NIGHT HIGHLANDER 🗡️⚔️🛡️🛡️
Clancy is a such a gentlemen, and a talented actor. I really enjoyed seeing and learning about him here. Clancy is very underrated. I liked every role he has played. And that voice is amazing.
Truly one of the greatest actors. Up there with Lance Henrickson and Karl Urban.
Two lines Kurgan says that I love, which amounts to 5ish words all in all. 1. When "room service" lady says "Hi I'm Candy" he replies "Of course you are!" and when he carjacks the old couple he turns to the old lady and he politely says "Ma'am" cracks me up every time!
Chills hearing him say "Holy ground, Highlander!" again.
I love him, he is a geeat actor! Highlander, the voice of Doctor Neo Cortex in the original Crash Bandicoot series, and the voice of Mister Krabs 😍
Ha! What a brilliantly idiosyncratic highlight of the mans career. I love it.
4:19 holy crap, that was exactly like christopher lamber :O Damn this dude is talented.
im repeating that for 100x
You dont say.
Clancy brown is a iconic actor
Bad boys with Sean Penn.
Highlander.
Starship troopers
Shawshank redemption
All classic an very entertaining movies
Quite under-rated talent
I especially like what Clancy Brown had to say about Kurgan taking the traditions of the immortals seriously despite showing scorn for orthodox religion.
In the lost scene with Yung Dol Kim, he tells him that tradition “is all we have.”
It hints at a certain hidden depth to his character which I’ve always found intriguing.
Clancy Brown is the Man!
He's grown into the KFC Colonel... Kurgan Sanders!
Damn it! That's a great observation!
CAREER SERGEANT ZIM! THAT HAIRCUT IS NOT REGULATION!!
I’ve got something to say.....it’s better to dine out than to get takeaway!
@@proudpict2057 Brilliant! 😂
😂
My favorite line "Spongebob, are the patties ready"?
"The boy cries you a sweater of tears and you KIll him!"
He's a wonderful actor and an excellent human being
This movie became such a legendary movie with so many classic one liners such a great soundtrack on and on. They could not have known what it would become. I love it when I find someone who has been living under a rock They say that they have never seen it and I get giddy. It never disappoints. My 78 yr old mother can't tell you who pick biggest star in the world is but if she walks by the TV and sees him she says "Clancy Brown " that says it all
What I would give to have him re-read the Kurgan's lines, but as Mr. Krabs from Spongebob...
Arggh it's better to burn out arggh then to fade away argggh.
Money!!!
Hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe yeah that'd be great
There can only be one, Plankton! aghegheghegheghegheghegh!
I heared both Mr Krabs and Doctor Neo Cortex
"hi im candy" :-)
@Stefano Pavone Played by Corinne Russel a fairly well known topless model. A "Page 3 Girl".
I bought tickets to go to this, but was so gutted that we couldn't attend. I hope they do something like this again with Clancy.
The best scene in CINEMATIC history was the car scene in the first HIGHLANDER movie. It brings back alot of memories from my early teenage years. The movie should get a 'belated' Oscar. Clancy Brown, you have aged well and your contribution still weighs heavily in to my mode of thinking. I now this sounds F**KED up but it never gets old. Nice work, keep going.
I know his name.
He's so adorable
Clancy Brown is so awesome!😎😁😁
0:42 I remember the other guy killing Sean Connery was Billy Drago , in The Untouchables. Gotta love the 80's man :)
BETTER TO BURN OUT THAN FADE AWAY....HUH CLANCY?
Clancy Brown has aged well. He looks and sounds friendlier than when he played the Kurgan. Then again the Kurgan wasn't friendly. His Kurgan voice now sounds more like Mr. Krabs than the Kurgan.
he has such a great character voice
He was great in 'Blue Steel' and ' Starship Troopers'.
I never thought that about Kurgan, but he is right. He respected the rules if nothing else. Clancy has had some impressive roles.
Always was a big fan of Clancy Brown. Love that younger generation love his work also.
CB impersonating Lambert made me legitimately laugh out loud.
Lambert's scottish accent is so memorable.
He’s a great actor, loved him in Highlander and of course Shawshank Redemption…
press f to love clancy brown
Thranduil Oropherion f
Another instance of the villain's actor being such a pleasant person.
Very interesting to find out that Kurgan, while seemingly caring about nothing at all, at least cares about the rules of the big game.
Clancy Brown is one of my fave actors and i was 15 at the time when i saw the first Highlander and Kurgan was so super scary and he is still super scary
I just realised, this actor also played the prison officer from the film "Shaw Shank Redemption".
Perhaps the greatest immortal villain in movie history. Blasts that part, hail Mr. Clancey!
He has such a Great voice!
What an awesome Q&A. Thanks so much EIFF for doing this.
"Holy ground, Highlander!" is also my favorite line because of what he said!
Clancy Brown seems such a humble decent guy whenever u hear him interviewed. I’ll tell u what aswell I burst out laughing at his Lambert impression
One of the most underrated actors of all time.
Legend.
Great. Much love for the cast and the movie.
"Holy Ground, Highlander! Remember what Ramirez taught you!" is also my favorite Kurgan line. There's something so menacing about it, but as he said, it shows that Kurgan does respect the rules of The Game
What a lovely guy and such a talent!
Highlander is my favorite '80's movie. I was 15 years old when the movie was released.
they stood up Kurgen !!
so rude of Sean connery, Lambert and the others not to attend this
Highlander was a great movie !
they should hv been there !
Nobody owes the fans shit. It's cool to have fans, but it's not as if they made their career. Of course doing public appearances and talking to fans is a nice thing to do, but there shouldn't be any obligation to spend your time with them. If you appear at these sorts of things, it should be because you want to. Because you appreciate the fans. Fans can be way too entitled.
Perhaps, but on the other side of the coin Clancy would likely be viewed as secondary if Lambert showed up. Without him, Clancy is the main attraction and getting the most attention and biggest applause. Then again, he doesn't act like he wants the big spotlight.
Connery has to have a carer with him anytime he goes out and is almost 90, cut him a break 🤣
The combination of Michael Kamen and Queen for the soundtrack was indeed superb. Who Wants To Live Forever will always be my favourite Queen track.
Love The Kurgan. Clancy nails it as Brother Justin in Carnivàle if you want to see some of his recent work. I'm sure he has a wide range he is so talented. But Clancy is always his best when he plays the Villain.
HANK!!!
Technically, the line he spoke was a Def Leppard lyric: He said "I have something to say: It's better to burn out, than fade away" Which of course, Leppard quoting Neil Young, whose lyric was only the last part of that, but only Leppard's song has "I've got something to say" in it.
LMAO at his Christopher Lambert impression
The other person to kill Sean was billy Drago.
I was at this event and always remember cringing hard when a guy basically forced Clancy to record a message to a family member during the Q&A to a packed house.
It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 40 years since Highlander came out I was 16. Clancy Brown in a kilt! 😂😂😂
this is prolly the most epic Q&A ive ever seen. What a fucking legandary guy!
I LOVE an actor, who will do his famous lines!! That is soo rare! If it was me, I would dress like Luke Skywalker every day and drive a Land speeder if I had been Mark Hammill.
And that moment, when he is talking about the music. And everyone THINKS he means “Princes of the Universe “. And then he says “when Heather dies”. And you can see that woman react! She is stunned. So was I.
I was in the audience. What a nice guy Clancy is, he’s the opposite of the Kurgan.
What a treat to be seeing this a getting such background information from the man himself!
Every time I hear Clancy speak, all I hear is Lex Luthor.
Joe Acosta
Non-villainous verson. :-)
I hear Doctor Neo Cortex
Silas TFP
Clancy got a good sense of humor too ;)
I am a long time fan of Clancy Brown and the Highlander actors. Loved that film. The soundtrack was fabulous too.
"MMOOOMMM!" :D
Mom !!!!! Priceless!!!!
Best line: "Of course you are"
Marvelous! 👏👏👏
Such a nice, classy guy.
Considering he got paid nothing and receives zero royalties he's very gracious.
Very entertaining. You still got it Mr. Brown.
Clancy lovely man ❤❤❤
My fave line tooooooooo
Great actor !!!!
All hail Kurgan!
Clancy Brown is a film and television treasure.
God Dammit!! Now I have to go watch the movie again. Though that’s not really a punishment since it’s awesome and I love it!!
Clancy was the best part of the Movie. It is wonderful to see him represent. I appreciate him taking time out for the fans especially when they shafted him on the pay.
Its a shame Clancy's character wasn't explored more considering he was one of the oldest immortals. Clancy carried the part really well. There has been a lot of highlander films and a TV series, in my opinion the Kurgan was by far the best. I don't think the Kurgan was evil at all he simply wanted the prize and thought he deserved it. What he would of done with it is another film....
We need a kurgan origin movie perhaps with Clancy Brown playing The bedunion the Kurgans teacher.
I love this guy
Clancy is the Man. No matter what he's in, no matter what role he plays, he is always first and foremost the Kurgan for me
Clancy is best! The first is really the only one i recognize in the franchise!
Clancy used to be my bartender at a place called "Fiddler's Green" on the north side of Chicago, back in the late 70's or early 80's!
I loved it when he took "ma" for a ride.
He wore a fucking KILT to Scotland, what a legend!
OMG when he imitated Lambert! lol
spot effin on!
5:05 - AWESOME!!!!!
